Dooode! I have been going to chiropractors since i was 13; some have been pretty great, most have been average and i've been to a couple terrible ones. Im pretty sure Dr. Dean is a magician. I was shocked at how much better i felt before he even adjusted me! He truly knows how the body works, and just by looking at it and how it moves is able to tell what needs to be done to fix it. I slept weird 2 weeks ago and didn't get in to get adjusted. 2 days ago i put my hair up and threw out my neck... sometimes the simplest things... He asked me a series of questions, watched me move around, tweaked a couple areas and i could move my head again! I am so glad that I got on Yelp to help me figure out who i needed to go to - He is literally the best body worked i have ever met. He did adjust my neck and back in a couple places, but that's just the shiniest tool in his work bag; he uses his knowledge in many different fields to work on people's needs and also used heat, biofreeze, massage, cupping and stretching to help put me back together. He stretched my arm back at an angle, pulled the skin and muscle on my neck up and i didn't have pain anymore... i was amazed. I was there for about 45 min and felt completely relaxed and at ease - he listened attentively to what i was saying and i felt respected and confident that he knew what he was doing. He even explained why he was doing the things he was from a healthcare perspective, so i had a deeper understanding. He works mostly with sports injuries, but it seems like although that is his background, he has had many more clinical hours using different modalities to help the body get back into it's normal rhythm. I am looking forward to going back and checking in next week, though at this point i don't really feel like i have to. He didn't ask me to come back or tell me i needed to come see him 3-5x in the next week like some have. I am getting married on Sunday (4 days from now) and feel like he completely fixed me! read more

Dr. Dean healed my knee without surgery. I was told by a specialist that I needed a surgery to fix the meniscus tear and baker cyst on my right knee. I was suffering with this issue for over 2 years. The first specialist said I have early stage arthritis and recommended physical therapy. I went to a physical therapist for about 6 weeks and the therapist was able to help me but it was not completely healed. I stopped limping but I still was not able to walk up and down the stairs and had really bad pain when bending my knee. The second specialist confirmed the tear and baker's cyst and said he can fix it with a 20-minute surgery followed by 2 months of physical therapy. I avoided scheduling knee surgery for months. I lost lots of weight and thought that would alleviate the strain on my knee but that did not fix it. I looked up Physical Therapist in my area about a year later after seeing the first physical therapist and found Dr. Dean. On the first visit he knew exactly what to do and HE DID IT. After seeing Dr. Dean for a few visits, he completely fixed my knee. My ligaments are now hydrated and I can't feel the cyst any longer. I actually completed a 2-hour hike at Eaten Canyon in Pasadena after seeing him a few times. I am thankful for Dr. Dean because if it was not for him, I would have had surgery and still would have needed at least 2 months physical therapy. Thank you, Dr. Dean, for healing me without surgery. You have magical healing hands. read more

I have been going to the Hawthorne Wellness Center since it very first opened. I was a patient of Dr Chaser for a number of years. When he retired, I was worried I would need to find a new clinic. I ended up being scheduled with Dr Dean, and he has been fantastic. My first adjustment was just a routine appointment, (my neck was tight) but the following week I was knocked off my feet by a large dog and landed very hard on my hip and side. He was able to really reduce my overall discomfort the VERY first visit after my injury, and show me ways to protect my back. I went back for another follow up, because I still had some residual pain and was worried about further injury without proper treatment. He reassured me that we would be able to take care of this issue and further educated me about moving properly and ways to take better care of my spine. PLUS he stretched my neck in a way that was so awesome and amazing!!! I was so pleased with my experience, I have been raving to friends and family. I was sure I was going to be dealing with a painful back for months....and it is only two weeks later .....and after my adjustment yesterday, I am feeling confident that I will not have any residual pain. Do yourself a favor! Go see Dr. Dean. I have a feeling he will be able to help you with pretty much any issue. read more

I have visited Justin dozens of times over the course of about two years. I am a competitive track runner and throughout my career I have had countless injuries that Justin has been able to help remedy. I have seen many different people in the sports medicine field from PTs, athletic trainers and chiropractors but Justin has the widest range of techniques to treat every injury I have brought to him. A week before the cross country state championship I twisted my ankle. I thought I was done and wouldn't be able to race, an athletic trainer said that it was a sprained ankle and that I wouldn't be able to race. I went to Justin and he realized that there was no structural damage but that I had an irritated nerve. After performing a few types of treatment I was able to run again and I raced without any pain. I couldn't recommend Justin any higher, he has worked with many of my teammates and we all have been thrilled with his work. I usually describe him to friends and family as a magician or miracle worker but his success is really the result of a lot of hard work perfecting his craft. His treatment is top notch and he explains what he is doing and makes you comfortable. He is also very good at understanding the needs of athletes and quickly getting them to a point where you can compete. read more

Seeing Justin was the best PT visit I have ever had! I am currently employed as fitness trainer and yoga instructor injuries and such happen in my line of work. Lately I have been dealing with a lower back issue that was limiting my movement and cause some heat to radiate in my back. Before coming to Justin i had seen other Physical therapist that gave me the running around and made up fancy terms to diagnose what was happening in my back never really giving me any insight to what was happening. Justin on the other hand spoke to me in a way that I could understand and even better he listen without the intent of replying. He started off with taking me through a series movements to assess where I was having limitations. The best part was as I was moving he always checked in asking how I was feeling , how the injury was reacting to the movement. He would then work on my back, then ask me to repeat the movements and each time I gained a little bit more information on what was happening. at the same time I gained more movement, I felt less stiff then when I came in. All in all I would definitely recommend seeing and plan on sending my clients to see him as well. Thank you Justin for your skills and talent. read more

Dr. Dean is a chiropractor like no other I have ever seen. He blew my mind with the way he was able to relieve pain so quickly with no traditional Chiropractic adjustments, which he'll do if needed but he said that's not what I needed. I've had some chronic issues for many years that I've had so many different practitioners work on to no avail. He is the first one who in one session immediately reduced some pain. He also gave me exercises and stretches to do to keep the healing process going. He is so thorough and knowledgeable about anatomy and structural issues, that he is from now on the only person I'll trust to treat me. Issues that I thought I would have to just deal with lifelong or that were a result of aging, are treatable and he has shown me that I don't need to accept limitations. I can have a much higher level of functioning. I have a pole dancing competition coming up in 6 weeks and he is making the process so much less sore and painful for me and I feel stronger, more revitalized, and more confident. Do yourself a favor and go see him and you will be amazed at how quickly you're able to feel better. read more

Dr. Dean is hands-down one of the top clinicians I have had the pleasure of encountering. I have had a history of back injuries, especially in regards to lumbar discs. A lot of providers would be quick to write off an injury, but Dr. Dean has an extremely keen eye to ferret out the root causes of his patient's injuries. Dr. Dean treated me after I tweaked my back deadlifting. Not only did he help me escape my pain by targeting the correct tissues, but he also helped me improve aspects of my weight training! Dr. Dean is very personable, and goes the extra mile to make sure his patients not only feel better, but they STAY better, as he provides ample education about patients' conditions, in addition to implementing appropriate exercises and movement strategies to stay out of pain and perform at your best! He also draws on his past experiences working with everyone from weekend warriors to elite Chinese track and field athletes! No matter what your sport/hobbies/injury status/goals are, Dr. Dean is the man with the plan and cannot recommend enough if you are in the Los Angeles area. read more

Dr. Dean is the best West LA chiropractor! Honestly he's the real deal. I wasted too much time researching and calling PT offices around the area when I needed to find treatment for an inflamed hamstring. After several attempts, I wasn't able to get the level of care or service I was looking for and was about to give up. Thankfully my friend referred me to Dr. Dean, and within hours I got in touch with him directly and had an appointment scheduled for only days later! He's extremely knowledgeable, professional, and really gives the attention your injury deserves by first wanting to understand the root cause (versus only addressing the injury itself). He takes time to explain to you his treatment and how it's supposed to correct the issue, in both scientific terms and relatable analogies :) Dr. Dean will make you feel comfortable and at ease to the point where it feels like you're just hanging out with an old friend. And to top it all off, I've had amazing progress after only 2 sessions. All my pain is gone! I'm now starting to think he's some sort of magician! read more

Dr. Dean is an intelligent, intuitive, kind Doctor. On my first visit with Dr. Dean, he asked me what my physical health goals were. After explaining to him that I was on a major weight loss journey, his response was, "let me help you get there." I initially started seeing Dr. Dean for a chronic pain issue, but he helped me with much more. He worked diligently over the course of my treatment period until the pain issue was resolved. After the pain issue was resolved, he started working with me to develop core strength. Aside from his intuitive adjustments, he gave me "homework"--short but powerful exercises that he assured me would help my situation if I did them daily. I did his daily prescription and in conjunction with regular visits, am proud to say that I'm pain free. Now, I see Dr. Dean when I need to. I recently had an emergency pain situation. I was able to make a same day appointment with him, walked in hobbling, and walked out pain-free. Truly, he is a pleasure to work with. read more

I've now had a few visits with Dr. Dean and am happy to say my pain has been subsiding. I've been to my fair share of chiropractors and other body workers. Dr. Dean has a unique approach I've never experienced and definitely goes beyond the typical chiropractor care and really takes his time to find out what is going on with your body. He doesn't just want to find something that will make you feel better, he explores to find the best approach for optimal results. He is clearly quite knowledgeable of the body. I will admit he gave me some homework exercises that, although simple, I haven't been the best at remembering to do them as often as I should... so not surprising that I'm not completely out of pain yet. Dr. Dean suggests a couple more visits is all I need. Appreciate that he is not the type of Dr. who insists you must keep coming back just to keep a full schedule and pocketbook. He shows a genuine interest in helping people. read more

If I could give 10 stars I would! Where do I start!? I have had L-spine disc issues since 2011, and I often have limited range of motion, difficulty bending and getting up from bed. I asked Dr.Dean to check me out and he ended up giving me an amazing treatment! He grabbed my L- spine region and did this pinching thing, at first it was painful because of the already tender spine I have, then it felt good. The suprise came when I heard this pop, then I felt the magic, the releif of all that tenderness and weight bearing on my spine. For anyone with similarly problem, you know what heavenly feeling that is. But wait! that was not all, I even got my hips alligned, man ...walking straight, having both legs be same length and relief on my back? I felt like a new person. If you are looking for someone who performa real magic, hit up Dr. Dean... you will not be disappointed! read more

After 4 months of struggling with intense pain stabs and overal tension in my knee and side of the leg, my therapist referred me to Dr. Dean. I have been an active person all my life but couldn't even walk normally anymore before I saw him. Dr. Dean listened to my story, had me do several exercises and movements and immediately did his "magic". His adjustments and other treatment methods took out all the tension and pain during that first visit, not only was the pain gone but also he explained me very clearly what was the problem (nerve irritation), how it happened and he taught me exercises I could do at home to improve and prevent further injury. I have seen him 2's since over the course of 3 months for residual knee problems and every time he is great; helping me get over my fear for injury, and reassuring me that all will be fine. Thanks Justin! read more

As a personal trainer and running coach, I am very grateful I found Dr Dean. He has been a tremendous help to myself and my clients. Everyone I have sent his way has had an amazingly positive experience. From getting people out of years of pain to Olympic athletes performing at the highest levels, Dr Dean has the knowledge to help. While he is the best adjuster I have had, he uses that only when needed. Where he truly shines is in his Clinical Audit Process. He takes the time to figure out what is the root cause of the problem, gets you out of pain quickly, and gives rehab homework to keep you healthy. I'm proud to have him as a professional resource, friend and as quick footed company running up Leif Erikson. read more

I had suffered from a chiropractic over adjustment in 2008 that left me with headaches and vertigo. After 4.5 years of seeking both allopathic and holistic medical doctors/healers, I found an osteopathic that has successfully treated me and has kept my vertigo at bay. After meeting Dr Dean in a manual therapy training, I sough treatment from him during one of my vertiginous episodes. He took a completely different approach to my pathology. Instead of trying to put my hyper-mobile bones back into position, he is working to free my nerves and nervous system to be functional in my imperfect body. We are working neurodymamic exercises. I am feeling better and with the grace of god this will be my 100% cure! read more

I've always been a critic of DCs but when I hit the lowest of lows in an injury - I was referred to Dr. Dean given his elite athlete background. I walked in with a nothing to lose attitude after I had tried multiple avenues to shake this nagging toe pain that hurt to run off of. Literally, ONE SESSION with Justin and a few of his mastermind tactics and I still don't know how, but was running pain free the next day. Justin Dean is extremely knowledgable and I wanted to write this review for the people out there like me who still believe in old school tendencies (foam roller and ibuprofen) while rehab has evolved tremendously. In short, thank you so much Dr. Dean. You have another forever client. read more

My workplace requires me to constantly lift heavy boxes, and bend up and down all day. My back was in pretty poor shape, to the point where it was difficult to take a deep breath. I went to see Dr. Justin Dean and it was the best experience! He knew exactly what was wrong after just watching me do a few movements, and was able to teach me better ways to move my body to prevent further injury. He educated me on what my muscles were doing, and i immediately felt great! He fixed the problem that day, and my back hasn't hurt since I have been doing the motions he taught me. Such a wonderful experience with a kind, knowledgeable and skilled chiropractor!! read more

Dr. Dean is a game changer. Not only is he incredibility knowledgeable, he is curious and passionate. He quickly identified the source of my knee and back problems and address the issue before Hood to Coast. More importantly he was able to explain everything to me so I understood what was happening and how to prevent it from happening again. I was scared to death when I went to see Dr. Dean 6 weeks before the race but was able to run with no issue or need for recovery time post race. I could not have done it without him! Without a doubt, I will be going back to Dr. Dean if another issue ever arises. read more

A little over a year ago I went to see him for the first time. I had been having foot pain for over a year. When I went in he was able to release the pressure in my foot that was pinching a nerve. I saw him a couple of times and he showed me a few stretches and exercises to do. I just had to go back this week after a big softball tournament where I played 7 games. He was able to fix me up in one visit and I am good to run again. I highly recommend him for anyone who is interested in maintaining or returning to activity. read more
