I did a bit of quick math on the mulch and sent me a text shortly after with the rate for the labor and the materials. I found it to be incredibly reasonable so we decided to move forward with the job. They are booked pretty heavily so it took a couple of weeks for our appointment but they showed up and worked efficiently to finish the job neatly and thoroughly. Our garden looks amazing and they did a great job pulling all those pesky weeds in our rock beds that had been causing me grief (and back pain!) over the spring and summer. I'm so happy with how it all looks. I can't stop marveling at our very cute yard now! And my plants seem way happier now that we've got the mulch around them as well. We paid a lot of money for an awful landscape job. They did not prepare the ground with adequate…read moreamounts of dirt we paid for. You can't even put a shovel in the flower beds before you hit rocks and clay. Many of the plants have died. They came back and dug up all the plants and put fresh dirt in the small holes they dug around the plants. However, trying to fix this after the fact, when the grounds weren't prepared right in the first place, did not work. All the plants should have been removed and the ground prepared correctly. The owner told me the person from her company that did our job was no longer with them. I was shocked when I heard this since our job was VERY expensive and I thought she would adequately manage it. The fact that her foreman was no longer with them did not help us after the fact. It would have helped if during our job she would have come by to check on what her foreman was doing. In addition, the initial design document she created, (and charges a lot for) had shade plants under a tree that would not be big enough to supply shade for 20 years. Her son even commented when they came back to dig everything up, "that tree won't supply shade for 20 years", as he pulled out all the dead ferns and shade plants under it. They pulled out so many dead plants and replaced them the different plants that design document was no longer valid. We should have been refunded for her bad design. The owner knew coming in that our soil was clay and we were near wetlands but promised that she could make it "beautiful". They even dug up the big pine trees they previously planted to add adequate soil under them (something that should have been done in the first place). Some of the pine trees are now dying. We spent so much money for our landscaping and it looks horrible and many of the plants look horrible or are dead this spring. They even had to dig up sod in the front and put soil under it because it was so uneven. Worse of all, we have water coming into our basement and found out it is because Karleen's crew DID NOT FOLLOW CODE WHEN THEY INSTALLED THE PATIO. Brighton Township code says that the patio should be 5" under the door. As you can see from this photo, it is flush with the door. You do not have to pull a permit on a brick paver patio because it is not considered a permanent structure but LD&A SHOULD KNOW WHAT CODE IS! When it rains heavily we get water in the basement. Basically, the whole patio will need to be torn out and brought up to code. Also, they put a rock (pictured here) to close to the house and it is funneling water directly down on the side of the house. It should be funneling the water AWAY from the house. BAD DESIGN. Wanted to warn others!!! This company charges top dollar but the results are awful and they do not monitor their jobs properly. They ALSO DO NOT FOLLOW CODE!

Weeks later, I contacted the company asking when the service would be performed because I had received no completion notice, no door hanger, and saw no evidence that the work had been done. I was then told the service had actually been completed a month earlier and my card was charged. When I raised concerns, the company relied on GPS records showing a truck at my property but could not provide photos from my property, despite telling me that photos are normally taken. What disappointed me most was the way the issue was handled. At no point did anyone offer to come to the property, walk the lawn with me, inspect the results, or independently verify my concerns. Instead, I was left with a charged credit card and no confidence that I received the service I paid for. Most importantly, there was never any visible evidence that the aeration and overseeding had occurred, and there still isn't. More than a month later, the lawn shows no meaningful signs of new grass growth, improvement, or change. Whether the work was not performed or was performed so poorly that it produced no observable result, the outcome was the same from my perspective: I paid for a service and saw no evidence that it benefited my lawn. The office staff was polite throughout the process, but based on my experience, I would not use this company again.

The guy who came out was courteous and I looked forward to getting an estimate so that I could move forward with my project. One week went by....no calls. Two weeks went by....no calls. So, I called and spoke with a female who said that she would get ahold of the estimator and get back with me. Another week went by....no calls. So, I called again and left a message with someone who appeared to be taking calls during the lunch hour. He said he would give them the message and they would call back. Another week....no calls. I guess if they didn't think the job was profitable enough, maybe they should have at least had the courtesy to let me know so I could get another estimate. Now weeks have passed by and I have to start all over again with new estimates. They were not reliable at all when it came to returning my calls and I never even got an estimate for the work. I am a businessman too. Good luck running a business that way. You'll be out of business once word gets around.

I just purchased a home in Brooklyn and I needed to have a couple trees removed. I called a few tree removal services. Three of them were disconnected phone numbers and three responded relatively quickly. Ryan was the first and he gave me a what I thought was a good price that I agreed to. He said he'd do it for less if I paid cash (first red flag) while I appreciated it, I asked if I paid full price if he could get it done quickly to which Ryan agreed. We agreed on the following Friday which was only a few days later. Friday came and I hadn't heard from Ryan by 1230 (as promised) so I called him and he said he text me twice and left me a voicemail, but hadn't heard from me. I'm not sure what he was allegedly waiting for since we previously agreed he was coming Friday for sure. (second red flag) The problem that came up as his story evolved was that my voicemail has been full for several years. I don't use it, and I had been texting other people all morning so i know the old story that I didn't get the voicemail or text messages he sent simply isn't true. I checked my phone history while I was on speaker phone with him. None of my texts were from him. (red flag number 3) When I asked him if they were still coming he said they "already knocked off for the day" (at 1230 on a Friday) and they could come next week, I have no idea why he would say he tried to reach me three times when he and I were the only people in the conversation. He had to know I knew he wasnt telling the truth. Last important point is that he said he'd email me a copy of the our quote and proof of his insurance and I never received that either. (Fourth red flag). Yes I checked my spam and trash email boxes. It never came. So Ryan was unable to reach me via phone, text (twice) and email?!? The summary is that Ryan was quick to give me a quote, quick to make promises about the work but slow to show up and perform. It was extremely hot that day so if that was the real reason-just say that. He never mentioned that. Instead he chose to make up a story that I KNEW wasn't true. It was insulting besides being inconvenient. I took the day off of work to be available and look where it got me.

Abandoned by Backwoods Tree Company…read more After spending three days working to trim some walnut trees and to partially remove a large elm in our backyard, Ryan failed to fulfill our contract and abandoned the job. He left us with a large pile of wood, several large limbs and a 30-foot "stump." After a few weeks, with several different plans on when and how he would complete the elm removal and clean up, Ryan ultimately stopped responding to our messages. We made the great mistake of paying Ryan before the job was complete. Don't make our mistake.
