Your $3.99 "Surprise bowl" if you shop here from Too Good to Go (prevent food waste).

I only came here since I got a last minute deal from the Too Good to Go (food app). The concept is pay $3.99 for a 'surprise' bag of food, to prevent leftovers. Shockingly, this was the worst "surprise bag" promotion offer I've paid & received. It actually takes zero effort to make a bowl of rice. Okay, maybe minimal effort to set a timer so you don't burn the rice. But at least when greeted by the friendly staff, you get a choice between white or brown rice. For those that don't have an expensive $80 rice cooker at home, this is the place to visit. A yummy plain bowl of...just rice, with no add-on's, no poké / no sushi. At least I helped prevent food waste so the dumpster raccoons wouldn't be subjected to this fine rice delicacy. I will be sure to recommend this Japanese establishment to all my friends, not really.

The decor is nice and the staff were very friendly! I've had a lot of poke in my life, but this was the first time that I found fish bones still in my poke. The salmon was cut in large pieces so I would be careful to watch for bones. Besides the bones, the food was very yummy but just slightly expensive for the portion size.

I love love love this place. I'm a huge seafood fan and this always hits the spot. The variety is amazing I can always choose any variety and be satisfied. The ambiance is always bright and they happened to be playing Afro beats this time around which made the whole place feel more coastal. Portions are always perfect and always happy to give more hijiki

These Just Poke places are popping up all over the Puget Sound region. It's nice that they have a spot in Des Moines right off Pac Hwy. It's also within walking distance from Highline College located in a multi development below the Highline student dorms. I built my own bowl. Everything tasted fresh. I was going to get the mac salad but it looked crusty. I dunno...maybe they need to cover it with a lid. It's nice they have dedicated parking spots. I bet during campus hours those students will try to find parking spots anywhere and everywhere. Plus I'm sure once the Kent/Des Moines Light Rail Station is up and running people might try parking there too. Really friendly employees working here. Glad to have this restaurant in the area.

The food here is amazing and the customer service is really great and such a cute restaurant.

Been going here for several years now - poke has always been solid and the Hawaiian dishes were good not great. But today it was all different - everything was outstanding! Wife got a 2 salmon scoop poke : fish was great as always, but the seasoned potatoes (gamja jorim) she chose as 1 of 3 sides was very good. Dad had the hwae-dupbap (think of it as Korean bibimbap but with poke instead of meat) and the Cho-gochujang sauce was excellent. I had the loco moco and it was better than in the past. Also the banchan with that were fire (seasoned japchae noodles, spicy shredded radish) both better than in the past They sell most of the side dishes as banchan and as a Korean I fully endorse them. I am a huge Korean banchan snob and I will absolutely countersign their cooking I don't know what's going on but like I said - everything tastes better than before. The ajumma who runs the place said business is getting slower as the economy is imploding so let's support this awesome local business so we can keep this place around.

Most of the staff are nice, but the owner does not quite seem to care about what his customers think as he is on the ruder side. However, the most outstanding staff is the older sweet looking lady who is incredibly kind. I wanted to make a review to to praise her (I wish I got her name!!) 2 scoops= small 3 scoops=medium 4 scoops=large Usually, the 2 scoops is enough to fill me up--but I'll always accidentally order the 3 scoops instead. I do not get their spicy meats because they're all cut up and mushy. Get their non-spicy one-- they're more fresh and at no extra charge. The rest are charge an extra $1.50 a scoop. So if you do not like mushy meat, I recommend you not to get the spicy ones. The sweet lady who helped me out gave me a small sample to try (for one of the protein) when it seemedl like I had trouble picking which protein to pick. She gave me a generous amount of toppings (the size of the scoops) when other people here usually give smaller scoops. The price is quite expesnive for what you get here sometimes. I like how this poke place actually mixes your protein into the sauce for you while others just squirt their suace on top. I like how spacous it is inside, and it gives a clean feeling. I enjoy eating my meals there on sunny days. The Poke Bar isn't the best Poke place, but it's not bad for Kent Poke. I have decent experiences here, and there are defintely worse ones out there, hence the 4 stars. I just had a really good bowl this time and wanted to share!

My daughter ordered their Chicken Katsu plate and mine was the Kalua Pig plate. My daughter enjoyed the katsu and it was such generous portion. However I didn't enjoy my kalua pork. It had an amazing smokey aroma but the taste was nothing but just salt. The side dishes were very tasty however. At first, I was trying my best to eat it with rice but the salt in the end really got to me. Especially I have high BP, so I decided to let the lady behind the counter know. It was very nice of her to remake it but it was still very salty. By then, I didn't want to eat it anymore. She offered to remake it for the third time as the chef was feeling bad about it. I told her, it's OK. My mouth only tasted salt and I had chucked down so much water including the free drinks she offered. I was already full. My daughter tasted it and said it was OK and told me she would eat my kalua pork and I could have her leftover half of chicken katsu. Tomorrow is New Year's Eve. It will be our dinner if we can't find a restaurant open.

This was at 12:30PM and there was a long line out the door and around the corner, taking almost 30 minutes. I had previously visited on a rainy winter weekday for lunch and there wasn't a line at all. What a difference the day and weather can make! While in line we could see the chefs cutting up ahi fresh right in front. The longer line gave me time to chat with the owner as he was trimming off the skin and other bits. I learned that tuna skin is much tougher than salmon skin so can't be eaten like salmon skin chips. He also said that the trimmed parts can be taken for free if anyone wants them. Apparently they make good crab bait! Medium w/ Rice, Traditional Limu Ahi, Hamachi, Mac Salad ($21.50) - I love the Hamachi poke mix. It's fresh, tender, and buttery fish tossed in a creamy and slightly spicy sauce, filled with little briny pearls and plenty of aromatics giving a super umami bite. The Limu Ahi is very fresh as well - I mean, it's sliced right in front, and there's so much turnover of the food that's it's pretty much guaranteed fresh. The tuna is fresh and tender, but there's noticeably more sinew compared to the hamachi. The Mac Salad is also really good. It's super creamy and the macaroni isn't overcooked so it still has some bite. The rice is unfortunately the weakest item in the bowl. It's a little too dry for my tastes and is only lightly tossed with rice vinegar, giving a tangy flavor. Overall all the poke is fresh, the flavors all meld together into a delightful balanced bite, and the sauces are not overwhelming. Ono Poke definitely serves some great poke! I live in Everett and so it was going to be a little drive. Nothing crazy but a good jaunt outside of my usual grounds. Upon arrival i noticed it was located on the corner of a small strip mall. Ono Authentic Hawaiian Poke. It looks very unassuming until you open the door. Just the vibes and energy walking in there were seemed like what it might feel debarking the plane when you arrived to the big island. At least that what I gather since I've yet to experience it. But man, this place is small inside but the atmosphere feels big. Great music playing. Packed with patrons. And the poke counter just stacked with deliciousness. I've been here 3 times to get a good idea of the flavors and varieties that have. And even though I have my favorites , everything I have tried is by far incredible. It's fresh. The quality is amazing. And the flavors of each individual selection is stand alone but not overwhelming or smothering to the point you feel you can't taste the fish. It actually accentuates the flavor of each fish and brings about an undercurrent of flavor and subtle umami that I never experienced at any other poke spot. My first visit I had the large spicy Hawaiian tombo. Sided with macaroni salad. And an order of the same but on the bites, or poke bombs. I got my food to go and ate in my car. It was the most beautiful looking poke I've had. And the bite was just scrumptious. The rice was cooked perfectly. Now I always thought it was weird to have warm rice with cold raw fish but I finally figured out why. It just made the dish so much better. My second visit I ordered a regular but decided to get Joes sampler. I had a little bit of everything. Seaweed salad. Cucumber salad. Edamame. Scallops, which turned out to be one of my top favorites. Salmon. Tuna. I highly recommend getting the sampler for f you are undecided but open to trying everything. My last visit was my definite deciding choice in terms of what my go to order will be for future trips. I had the regular but half limu traditional and they don't do scallops on Saturday so I opted for the octopus. I'm not a fan of octopus per se, and more so for the respect of the animal itself versus flavor and texture but it was pretty good. I won't order it again because my go to from here on out will be the traditional limu, scallops, macaroni salad and seaweed salad. Next time you want to try or get poke, head on down to Edmonds and hit this place. You'll be satisfied.
