I'm watching the online inventory drop like it's the stock market, panic-messaging the shop like, "Hi yes, it's me, your local pregnant lady. Please save one. I'm driving 20 minutes for it." They hadn't even responded yet, but I was already in the car -- hair a mess, slippers on, determination in my soul. Then... they posted SOLD OUT. I almost pulled over to cry into my steering wheel. Every other bakery in town was closed, and I was about to spiral into bagel despair. And then -- out of nowhere -- a message pops up: "We set one aside for you! What kind of spread would you like?" You guys. I could have named my unborn child after them right then and there. I walked in and there it was -- my glorious cinnamon raisin bagel, toasted to perfection and slathered with strawberry cream cheese so good it made me question every life decision I've ever made. As I drove off, cars were pulling up and I just knew they were jealous. I didn't even make it two minutes down the road before I was parked at a random gas station, finishing it like it was the last meal of my life.
