Had their 2 piece halibut and requested the poutine as the side. Halibut was good. A little greasy but we went right at noon when it was opening. Still the batter was light and crispy and the poutine was melty, gooey with plenty of gravy. No issues when asking for plenty of tartar sauce. Point to mention, restrooms are in the basement so might not be easily accessible for those who have mobility issues. read more

Love this place. Been coming for 20 years and so happy it's open during all of this COVID stuff. Eating on the patio is great but PLEASE do something about the bees and flies. We have eaten 4 or 5 times on the patio and again I love it and if I could give 6 stars out of 5 I would do it but maybe get rid of all the flower boxes surrounding the patio or spray for bees and flies but when we have 6 or more bees circuiting all our drinks and 10-20 flies on our table it's just not right. read more

If you're looking for the same decor as a Texas roadhouse, you've found the right place. The interior is decorated with guns, bull horns, you name it... The interior is surprisingly deep. We had a hard time getting seated because the waitresses were serving customers in the back. We wanted a small lunch, so we ordered the 1-piece haddock and chips ($9.50) and the shrimp bake ($8.50). We were disappointed with the size of the shrimp bake. It looked deep, but was instead cooked on top of a tall escargot dish. What you're getting is 6 shrimps covered in cheese. The haddock and chips were pretty good. The batter was light and crispy. The fish inside was flaky, mostly juicy, with some areas that were dry. We actually had better (and cheaper) fish and chips in Fenelon Falls the previous day. Service was attentive. read more

Of course I had to order the Halibut which was fried to perfection The one piece served with chips & coleslaw was more than enough food for me ($13.99 market price.) We also had the crab cakes which I personally didn't enjoy but my SIL orders them every time. My only wish is that they made their own tartar sauce, but after 40 years I'm sure they won't be switching it up anytime soon. The family run restaurant staff were super friendly, they went above and beyond to ensure everyone was happy (including serving us small plate of fries straight away for the unhappy little one at our table.) Not sure what all the hype and where the good reviews come from? We asked many locals and read the reviews and expected a great meal, but we were very disappointed. Before I get into it let me say the service was very good and if it wasn't for them I would give this place one star. It was also a hot evening and the AC did not cool the place, I was sweating my _ _ _ off. We had an order of clam chowder and it was a terrible mess, lots of potatoes with a gooey roux and no clams or any type of seafood. It was like a thick gooey potato paste with little flavour. We also had an order of muscles which was nothing more than a bunch of muscles cooked with a slab of butter, and little flavour except for the muscle juice mixed in with the butter. So far nothing impressive and trending towards disappointing. One of our orders of grilled halibut was raw and cold to the point of being frozen in the center when it came to the table. So this place uses frozen fish, not fresh. It was made right immediately, but serving raw fish in a seafood restaurant is inexcusable. My husband and I stopped by for dinner last night. It was extremely busy but we were sat right away! The service was amazing and the food was to die for!! The waitress was very friendly, our dood came pretty quick and she made sure we were happy on numerous occasions. We had the coconut shrimp to start. They were delicious! I am very disappointed in this restaurant. I have been going here for a very long time. I was up there the other day and thought I missed having it. Staff are the same, same lady I have seen for over 20 years. I gave up fried food. So I got a BLT with chicken. When it arrived no chicken fine I'll eat it. I had the first and only piece way too much grease. Fine I take it home for my husband. Bill comes unfortunately I didn't see it until after we left. Precious gems are rare and hard to find! Found this place on Yelp and info provided was accurate and helpful even allowing me to message the place and make reservations on a day when they were closed. The online menu was impressive with a lot of good choices. We arrived today and parked right in front FREE! The place is very pretty and quaint, inside was extremely well decorated and clean, (we were in the cleaning business and notice these things) I order the seniors steak and the wife ordered shrimp in a basket. WOW! Steak was great, fries were the best we have had, inside was as soft as mashed and the outside crispy so when you bite you'll hear a crunch. Nice decor. Very friendly staff. She was very attentive. I had the cheese shrimp to start and the husband had breaded mushrooms. I was a little disappointed with the shrimp. There just wasn't enough of them but the sauce was delicious and the mushrooms were home breaded. For the meal the husband had the bacon cheddar burger and a pulled pork poutine. Both with great and big serving. I had the lobster / crab cakes and the seafood chowder. The crab cakes were great flavour but they were mush. No solid meats pieces. And the chowder which claims was a secret recipe is left over vegetables and a very bland. I added vinegar, hot sauce, salt and pepper and it was okay after that. On August 7th 2016 my husband and I decided to get takeout from here..we ordered two 1piece halibut dinners $10.50 each and a lg greek salad..took it home , opened it up and omg..the pieces of fish were so small and completely dried out..fries were limp and cold..so disappointed...the only good thing was the greek salad..very good!
