The service was really great and it was above what we would normally expect and it's always good at the canoe and paddle.

Nacho's were terrible, I have a pic of the nacho's all you get is a lot of nacho chips and hardly any cheese. Steak and mushroom pie... No steak, mashed potatoes were cold.... Ordered a Bud lite and it tasted like they added honey to it. Sent it back and got a cloudy Stella. Went to McDonalds instead after paying $85 read more

The building has two entrances: one to the coffee and sandwich shop and the other to the restaurant. Same owners. The pub is an excellent English pub. Nice decor and very friendly service and patrons. Full bar: liquor, beer and wine. Interesting menu. The items we ordered were prepared so well and tasted so good. Some of the best English food we have had. The Yorkshire pudding was cooked to perfection. The fish and chips was lightly battered and very crispy with juicy fish inside. I have updated my review. Upon returning this year. Within a minute we were seated and offered drinks. Within 5 miniatures we had our order in. Dishes look to have descent servings. The place is clean. There is live music on some nights also, along with daily specials. read more

Food was great, very flavourful, the Coconut curry Chicken was amazing!. COVID guidelines were followed by all staff and customers.

My husband and I tried this restaurant twice. We should have known better!! The service was painfully slow. We gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried it again last summer. Again it was even slower. We waited almost 1 1/2 hrs for a charcuterie board!!!! All the while the waitress was apologizing. When it finally arrived it was sub standard. The comp'ed us the meal - $20 but sadly we will never return. The food was t worth the wait. read more

What a pleasure to return to the Canoe and Paddle for dining on the patio! The patio is spacious, comfortable and casual and fresh! The atmosphere was perfect for a mid June evening. The food was delicious: best sweet potato fries I've had in over a year! The chicken wings are meaty, moist and filling! The kitchen did a great job ! Our server was very pleasant, efficient. In fact all the servers were on top of their game! Everything was well organized, seamless and cheery! Kudos to the whole C and P team. The manager who I believe just recently took on the role, has done an excellent job leading and preparing for the reopening. Congratulations ! The two reviews from 3 months ago are no longer useful. They are trying hard to become the local pub, with live entertainment etc, however a good eatery is what we look for. Cleanliness is important to us and windows were filthy as was the rest of the place it needs a complete new decor even though it's only a year old. The food was presented beautifully and fresh Veggies were great. Bud had hamburger that was super bland, and had to salt and pepper it. Fries were really good, however menu choices were very lacking with not a sandwich on it except for the kids, it would have been quite easy to offer a hot Hamburg sandwich. No steaks or steak sandwiches yet they had steak and kidney pie. Being British and I wasn't impressed all in all I don't think it will become one of our regulars read more

This is not a restaurant I will be returning to. Horrible horrible management has turned this place from a nostalgic spot in cottage country to a stain on the lovely town of Lakefield. Nice pub. Great small town. They had lots of good beers to choose from and a nice menu. Yes, hot wings but a good stew and other good choices. We had some fried pickle spears and they were good. Service was good and prices we about right. Easy to find. read more

I went there with my young son for what I heard was some fabulous poutine. The manger saw me at first and immediately offered me a table; then she saw my 10-year old. In a grating English accent she informed me that that they were closed for a private function. We were turned away. Just opened up last year and it's now my favourite pub. It has the perfect pub atmosphere with live music, great food and friendly staff. Pulled pork taco salad is my favourite. Haven't bothered to try anything else on the menu. read more

Staying in Lakefield for a few days, took a chance and tired Canoe and Paddle on the first night. Pleasantly surprised by the food, I had the burger and it along with the fries and gravy was delicious, my dad had the Toad in the Hole,which is made fresh this was also fantastic. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the drink/ bar options were limited and on the kinda cheap end in terms of choices. The waitress was great, funny and very helpful, since we had a lot of random questions not only about the food and restaurant but the area as well. I'd definitely recommend going here and having a meal. They have theme nights, or deal evenings that seem like a fun idea or reason to go. read more

The service is horrible! The sign says "seat yourself" so we did. My sister and I and my one year old daughter. Know one came over! I even went to get a high chair myself. Over 10 min. later and still no service. Not even a "hi be with you soon". We decided to leave and on our way up and out, the older waitress looked at us and still said nothing !! On our way to raft the Ottawa river we took a turn off the beaten path through Lakefield to find the Canoe and Paddle. What a pleasant find ( with many thanks to Yelp);the pubish decor with yes a canoe over the bar, is quite nice. The waiter was attentive and welcoming. At first the decor is a bit underwhelming however you're quickly over that as the friendly wait staff hurry over to help you. The menu has an item to suit most people and everything was hot, beautifully presented and very, very tasty. Food arrived very quickly which was a blessing as all were very hungry. We had the fish and chips (huge portions), one of their specialty burgers and the curried chicken. Everyone at the table argued over which of us got the best dish. Looking around the restaurant at other tables everyone's faces lit up as their food arrived and first bites were taken. A very pleasant experience. A small hidden gem, try this place out! read more

1-star for serving drinks without straws! plus 1-star for having an amazing grilled chicken burger with feta and other great stuff on it. It was super yummy and I was super impressed. plus 1-star for a friendly server who was very polite and always had a smile. less 1-star for the fact that the place was crazy busy when I was there (a Tuesday for lunch) and not having enough staff to handle all the tables. This meant that my server had way too many tables on the go and couldn't give each table the attention it deserved. For example, it took forever to get a glass of water. less 1-star for the band members who stood/sat a short distance from my table, staring at me, and waiting for me to leave so they could setup for their evening concert in the restaurant. It wasn't even 3pm and they were already setting up. Plus, when I got there, there weren't a lot of table options, otherwise I probably wouldn't have selected the table I did (it was self-seating). I found it extremely rude and annoying, and no one from the restaurant itself said or did anything. They could have asked me if I could move tables, since there were lots of options, and given me a free drink or dessert for bothering me, but no, they just stared and waited. I ended up getting up and going to the bar for my receipt because I felt uncomfortable waiting for the server to bring it to my table. Almost the moment I got up, the band members zeroed in on my table and started moving it. They couldn't even wait for me to leave. Overall, feeling like I wasn't welcome to stay made the whole visit disappointing, even though the food was good. I'm on the fence about going back. I'd like to think it was an honest mistake, but the fact that no one from the restaurant itself noticed what was going on makes me think like they don't care. read more

Really surprise with the experience we had tonight. Checked some reviews below and thought we might have some "bad" experiences here but absolutely NOT! The servers are all thoughtful and helpful. The place was really busy so we gotta wait at the bar. The bartender were nice enough to give us some sample to try before we ordered our boosters for the night, not expected this from any other famous restaurants in Canada. Another blast was we had to be seated in front of the live brand, Gavin, our server firstly felt sorry for that, then we were quickly be seated to another table whenever it was ready to be served. Honestly, we didn't expect that Gavin was so caring. Can't believe the food was so delicious and tasty too! If this restaurant and the servers doesn't deserve five stars, i dun think any other place would. read more

We live locally and unfortunately there's few restaurants to choose from if you want a pint and some good eats. The only star I gave was for the server who was lovely. My son had the kids cheeseburger... $11 dollars for it and it was a slab of boiled meat sitting on a rather dried out bun. We both had the Taco Supreme Salad and it was quite possibly the worst salad I have ever eaten. If you like mayo and sriracha drowned lettuce then by all means, eat this salad. It was so drenched in mayo 'sauce' it was sickening. The bowl is a deep fried flour/lard mixture that adds to the monstrosity of nausea inducing fat. The only thing vaguely resembling taco would have been the Pico de Gallo.... I could not stomach eating the vast majority of it. So disappointing. We will not be supporting local for this. read more

A pub with heart and soul. A warm and welcoming atmosphere backed up by a menu that will please every appetite. The food is well worth the wait - as it is made from scratch with quality ingredients and superb culinary practice. The portions are as generous as the selection of locally made craft beer. My Yorkshire pudding was just as superb as my Great Grandma's back in the UK. It is obvious the staff work well together and care for the patron's experience. My children devoured their meals and were treated to authentic live Celtic music... 3 fiddles, 2 flutes, a bodhran and a beautiful singing voice. You could tell that it was a place that the locals liked to call home and join together for good company, a pint and some excellent food. A genuine atmosphere. I will drive the nearly two hours again for a Sunday pub lunch with my family again. Wish we had a pub like this in my home town. Highly recommended. Well done. read more
