They were thorough, professional and so passionate about every detail. I thought for sure my little guy would give them a hard time but they knew exactly how to handle him; he was as calm as can be. We had a wonderful experience getting both of our Shih tzus groomed at this salon by Rose. The booking process was very easy and efficient, we received an email and text confirmation which we appreciate! When we arrived, the location was clean and smelt really nice with calming in scents. Rose greeted us and was so sweet we immediately felt comfortable leaving our two babies under her care. I got fed up with this place. It was decent at first, but they got progressively greedy with the pricing. It went from $150 to $185 to $250... for the same cat. I imagine it's because she is difficult to work with, but aren't most cats? Not to mention how they insisted that we give our cat tranquilizer pills. I usually had to wait for an appointment for 7-10 days. Additionally, they only groom cats on Thursday mornings. And they insist on doing it at 8 a.m. sharp. At one point we had scheduled an appointment and my husband was 15 min. late for it (because his car had been blocked in the morning, which he explained to them and apologized.) They refused to take the cat in once he arrived. Seriously? Over 15 min? Apparently so. Waking up early, taking the morning off work, driving for 17 miles back & worth and this... No, thanks. I have since then found another place where they charge $125 for a lion cut. They also don't expect me to drug my pet and do a better job. read more

Just 4 Paws was very good three years ago. My morkue always looked good.. Since covid its almost impossible to get an appointment. My boy has high anxiety, they know this as it's noted on his card. All of a sudden his anxiety is a problem and ot is taking onger to be groomed then they like. So now they want to charge me an additional $75 extra. Talk about greed. This owner has gotten extremely greed with her high increase and very curt with customers. Groomers should be able to handle all temperaments and not charge extra. Her reasoning was my dog takes longer then expected so that means that's one less dog she can take in. I'm done with these clowns read more

My dog was cut at this place and employees who works there tried to hide and lied about an accident. When I'm picking my dog after procedure, I always ask, how was she?- and answer which Im getting "oh , she's perfect"!! Yeah, right but not this time when I'm coming home and blood is everywhere, because groomer cut my dog nail deep. I'm a dog owner, and I should know what's going on with my family member especially when Im asking about it. Absolutely unprofessional place, lacking knowledge about dog grooming, specially with English cocker spaniel breed , they shave my dog like a poodle, my dog butt after grooming looked like monkey butt, what's a shame!! I've been coming to J4P w/ Charley my Cocker mix, we've brought him quite a few times and on one occasion i feel his haircut was a little sloppy, he seemed choppy in a few spots, we tried alternate groomers in the area but pound for pound J4P wins hands down, we will return w/ Charley when he is due for his next cut. 2 months ago we adopted Ralphie aka Little Evil, a 2 yr old Yorkie mix, i brought Ralphie to J4P after having him about 10 days as his hair was really matted and his nails were super long, unfortunately they weren't able to do much, although they tried, 4 groomers on a 11lb dog, he defeated the group. Surprisingly they offered to do him again, this time Ralphie was Xanaxed up (prescribed from the Vet), they did a way better job this time, although he was still somewhat problematic, i think as time goes on, he will get a little better each time. One thing i have to say about J4P is they are consistent, the place always smells good and has the nice spa music playing. The groomers are always sweet and the dogs seem genuinely happy to go there. IMHO prices are on the steep side hence the 4 stars, otherwise 5 stars all the way. I'd rather pay more and feel comfortable w/ where my dog is than save $12 at PetSmart, PetCo etc. and have to deal w/ people that hate their jobs. read more

my pup Waldo loves this place :) he has been coming here for lovely haircuts for a number of years and he always comes back happy and looking sharp! it costs about $90 ish total for hair cut, anal glands, taxes etc and my dog is 11 lbs, fluffy/curly and he gets a puppy cut, short all over. The shop is wide open and all the pet care is done right in plain sight and you can clearly see all the people who work there really love the animals . its a really nice place and my pup loves going there - i highly recommend! read more

Just moved to New Jersey and was looking for a new place to get my dog groomed. Found this place through Yelp and bought my fur baby there. Once you enter the place, you get a sense of peace and coziness. When I dropped off my pup, they were grooming three other dogs and each one of them looked so clam and peaceful while getting groomed! I could tell they really cared for the animals, and knew how to handle them. They finished at almost exactly the time they told me. And because my pup was so well-behaved, they gave me a discount! I was very pleased. When I picked up my pup, the haircut was perfect with cute complimentary bandana, and he smelled great! Not like other groomers where you can tell it was dog shampoo. I don't know what they use to shampoo but it smells so great and clean. We routinely visit her family in the Montclair area. One weekend, we brought our dog with us. She was in bad need of grooming. Stinky and all :-) We found Just 4 Paws. It was the only shop for miles that had over 30 reviews and over 4 stars, our criteria for excellence. Long story short, after just one trip to this groomer, we now will ONLY bring our dog to Just 4 Paws for grooming, all the way from NYC. No joke! First, you can tell that the staff here love dogs wholeheartedly. You walk in and see both happy pups and happy people grooming the happy pups, out in the open, very well spaced. No hiding. It's all in plain sight. The pups look as though they're being totally spoiled, and they are. And the greeting we got from the staff upon entering the venue was like none that I have received before. You can tell they love their work and dogs. We have a Cavalier King Charles and their hair tends to get matted and tangled because of its long, silky quality. I have no clue what products they used on our dog, or what method exactly they groomed her with, but our dog's hair was the softest I have ever felt after leaving a groomer. We also noticed even up to two weeks after her grooming appointment, her ears remained unusually soft and unmatted, to the point where we didn't need to comb them, as we normally do. This is 5 star grooming folks. Lastly, when we picked our dog up, she wasn't in some cage or something. She was on the floor, playing with one of the staff, happily out in the open!!! Even if you have to drive 20 miles to use this groomer, do it. Trust me, it's so worth it and you won't choose another afterwards. read more

I took my dog here last year. The cut was pretty cute, the prices seemed too high for me, but I'm new to the area so I figured "what do I know?". I paid the extra for the anal glands excretion because my dog did actually need it, but they did it incorrectly, and made it worse, and I had to have my vet do it the correct way. Groomers do not know how to do anal gland extractions; I believe they're not even allowed to do it from the inside, which is how it's supposed to be done. I called them back a few times about it, concerned, because my dog was experiencing discomfort and dragging her behind on the carpet. They told me that it was probably just because the hair was cut short there. I won't bring her back, because I don't trust they know what they're doing. read more

This place is wonderful for my nervous rescue dog! I appreciate that they don't use cage drying. They are very attentive to my dog. She loves to run and has broken nails before. I am nervous to trim them myself but everyone here does a good job at keeping them short. My dog is always chilling with the staff when I come to pick her up and everyone is relaxed and in a good mood. I wish I could get my hair done in there ;) seems so awesome. They are super good at texting, emailing, and calling reminders and will usually give you a call you when the dog's appointment is almost done. This place makes their prices up as they go. My friend recommended this place and told me she got a really great package for her dog for $30. I call to inquire about how much the same package would be for my dog (same breed as my friends dog, same size) and they quote me almost DOUBLE the price. Definitely won't be coming here and would suggest for all to be careful about their price gauging. They also tried telling me my friend paid less because she had a new client special and her dog had a "good temperament". I'm a new client AND my dog has a good temperament but they aren't willing to give me the same rate. Plenty of dog spas around - I'll take my pup elsewhere. Told me it would take up to 3 hours, but only took 2 and since it was his first cut I asked for pictures and they were more than willing to send some for a proud fur mom. My pup can be super playful and sometimes overly excited but they were more than accommodating for him and made him feel comfortable.
