Steam table format where you just glance at their steam table behind glass and pick and choose what…read moreyou're in the mood for. One of the biggest 'pick n point' set-ups I've seen. The choices are so great that it makes the line messy and chaotic as nobody moves in a clean fashion from start to finish. People are moving all around to view stuff and many people are ordering multiple things so they'll take up an employees time much more than say 1 person trying to just get a quick lunch. They have grilled items (inihaw) which I think is sold by the pound. So I don't think you can get this inside your rice combo pick. I saw bbq'd meat sticks, whole grilled fishes and squid and whole grilled pork belly (liempo). I haven't tried anything grilled yet but may soon. For those rice plate combos you can only choose from their stewed or soup sections. So everything will be saucy and/or cooked for a good amount of time. This is where you will find your basic staples like adobo, sinigang and other common faves. A one item plate is about $11 and a 2 item combo is about $17ish. And they give you plenty of rice that I can never finish a plate here in one sitting. Towards the end of the line, there is a section with just fried things. Like the biggest selection of fried things that I've ever seen. Whole pork hocks (crispy pata), lechon kawali, fried chicken, fried fish and seafood, like absolutely dizzying and tempting. Everything here is sold by the pound. I haven't tried anything here yet, and not sure if I will ever as things are just sitting there for a time that none of us know, and some things just look overly fried and possibly dry/tough. And some reviews point to that direction. Things tried: Bistek: (3*) Pretty chewy beef slices in a strong soy flavored sauce. There's a little lemon flavor but think it could be more balanced. And there were very little onions in my packing and big chunks of al dente onions should be a big part of the bites for this dish. Meh. Dinaguan: (3*) Decent flavor but the sauce was too thick for me. I grew up with a thinner sauce, so the sauce remains more smooth and not as coagulated/grainy. The pork chunks were a mixed bag, some lean pieces and some quite fatty. I thinned this out at home and added a little more chile to it, I liked it better after I altered it. Paksiw: (4*) This is a fish soup flavored with vinegar, ginger and some vegetables. The fish is a whole steak of milk fish, so there will be tiny feather bones to deal with. I found their broth to be quite aromatic but very tart, like will pinch the joint of the jaws. Too tart for me but some Filipinos may like it this way. But I found the fish steak in my portion to be pretty good, fresh tasting with good texture. Often the meat can be reheated several times, so the texture gets mushy/overcooked. I was impressed. Mongo: (4*) This is a mung bean stew, much like a thick split pea or lentil soup. Very hearty and chunky with chunks of fried pork. They probably use chopped up lechon kawali as the protein. Decent flavor from what I can recall, like I didn't have any negative impressions. Pork Sinigang: (2.5*) Opened up the cup container and it looked decent. But the broth again was way too tart. Better mixed in with rice but too tart for me to sip on its own. And the pork chunks were totally a mixed bag, some seemed fresh while other bites seemed like an older batch that got mixed in. Total 50/50 satisfaction bites. Would not get again. This is inside the Island Pacific Grocery Store and is somewhat newish. I go to this store often and I am often enticed to try something as it is very visible and convenient. But in what I've got thus far, I'm thinking to using some discipline and opt for other nearby options. Must resist super convenience as it rarely leaves a special impression.

YUM YUM YUM!…read more Everyone is still going on about how AMAZING the cupcakes at our reception were. Before the wedding we must have gone to about 10 cupcakeries looking for delish cupcakes. While some were great, Minals cupcakes just blew us away. They aren't dry or super dense, they have the perfect amount of fluff and sweetness that you don't want to stop eating them! We ended up ordering a bunch of different flavors: lemon, strawberry, coconut, mint-choc chip, and red velvet (my fav!).. and all were exceptionally good. The cupcakes look like a piece of artwork, which is always a plus. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sweets & Treats for their one of a kind cupcakes, their affordability and professionalism. You will not be disappointed!

I have been a longtime fan of her strawberry cupcakes and request them for my birthday every year but have to admit that each one of her creations is simply sinful. Her cakes are very very moist and each cupcake actually tastes like the flavor it is meant to be! I was lucky enough to have her make her famous truffles at one of my wedding events and they went like hotcakes! Some guests didn't even get to try any because they were gone too fast. Don't make the same mistake I did and when you order from her, be sure to order way more than you think you need because more than likely, it will still not be enough!

It started off well as they let me customize Order 2 and Order 3 on two different days but when the food was delivered it went downhill. The Monday delivery had Dal Makhani (the only tasty dish which earns the 1 star - I give credit where it's due) and it had paneer vindaloo which was just watery gravy and exactly 2 pieces of paneer in the 16 Oz box... talk about cheating!! and the mixed vegetable sabji had bell peppers, onions and channa!!! where is the word does mixed vegetable sabji have channa? and yes it had paneer pieces too it was it tofu? not sure. but it tasted spoilt. When I told the person about it they said they will check with the kitchen and get back but they never did, till I asked them on the second day of delivery. On the second day, there was shahi paneer (btw their food is delivered cold) which was made of coconut milk. yes the flavor was decent but guess what happens when you heat coconut milk? it becomes watery!! and this time there were 4 pieces of paneer floating in the watery gravy. Yes, they gave me two dabbas to make up for the first delivery but I have had food from many other places where every single mouth had a paneer piece literally with the gravy ... PM me and I can share the names!! This is pure daylight robbery. Pricey to the boot (yes they deliver for free but it is incorporated in the price) and substance is less. And finally the bindi masala - the Bindi was so fibrous and had so many end pieces. For charging so much can't they get good bindi?? I will definitely not order from them again and wouldn't advice anyone to either!

Having someone to do menu planning and grocery shopping was a huge time saver and ensured that we had home-cooked meals to eat rather than falling back to ordering takeout every night. Johanna provided a wide variety in her meals. Most menus came directly from her, but sometimes I would request certain types of food or specific dishes she had made in the past that were our favorites. Johanna tailored her menus to meet my dietary restrictions (low saturated fat). She always left the kitchen clean with clear instructions for the meals and even some cooking tips along the way! Johanna came every 2 weeks but was flexible around holidays and vacation. Would absolutely recommend her services!

My (now) husband is a severe Celiac and so making sure all food is completely Gluten-free was the number one concern. The Chef was quick to respond and so helpful in brainstorming a potential menu for the event (we settled on Mexican). She then got started on putting together the recipes and gathering the proposed ingredient list. This is where the Chef went above and beyond for us-she sent us the full recipes and proposed ingredients(down to the specific brands) so that we could ensure that everything was free from gluten and free from cross-contamination (a shocking amount of spices are processed on the same equipment as wheat). She even was able to find a way to make gluten free Tres Leches and Tiramisu (our favorites). For our wedding cakes! Menu: Crudités with Green Goddess Dip Queso Fundido with Chorizo Pico de Gallo Chopped Salad Chili Verde Stew Slow Cooked Barbocoa Tacos Roasted Zucchini Sweet Bell Pepper Rice Spicy Citrus Black Beans Tres Leches with strawberries Tiramisu Preparation: The chef packaged up all of our food so that my sister could pick it up and transport it (our venue was 4 hours north of the bay). She provided detailed instructions for reheating the food and prepping the cakes. She even made sure we would have any additional utensils that would be necessary. She gave me an accurate and in-depth invoice that broke down the expenses and made it easy to work into our wedding budget. Food: WOW WOW WOW! The best part (obviously) was the food! Everything was fresh and vibrant and so so delicious! The Queso provided the best cheese pull I have ever seen and my husband and I are still drooling over that Tres Leches and my family keeps bringing up how incredible the dinner was! Additionally my husband was able to freely eat everything to his hearts content, confident that he wouldn't become ill on our special day. I cannot recommend Chef Johanna enough!!
