I should have turned around when I saw the pit bulls in the front of the bay door... I had an appointment, brought in my truck for a deisel oil change. It was super tight parking. No waiting room so I had to go to the bakery next door, and I had to buy something (it was awesome btw), while he was doing my oil change he takes another customer in and does his whole oil change while I'm sitting there half done. When he's done, after bragging about how much he knows about cars, he grabs my power mirrors and pulls them in, jacking up the hearing. One of the worst interactions with a mechanic 5 I've had in the short span of owning a vehicle. Came in for a timing issue with my Vanagon and barely got back home due to it running 100% worse than when I got to the shop to get it fixed. When I asked if availability is open to leave the car with him he stated he wouldn't work on this "basket", took my 60 bucks and said "good luck". I brought my Westfalia in to Pierre and he was great. He spent time Telling me about the repairs that needed to be made and made sure I was comfortable with everything. What sealed the deal for me however was when I was at another shop to get some inside the van repair work done something happened and as I was driving away from not to be mentioned in this review garage, the van started spurting and backfiring and not wanting to move. I was able to sputter and limp into Just Andys in hopes that I could just leave it and Pierre could get to it when he could. To my surprise, he came out and said "let me take a look at it". He looked at the engine, touched a few things and the said "well here's the problem" and connected the part that had come undone and I was up and running like nothing had ever happened. Just Andy just gave my VW '72 Super Beetle Convertible new life! My car has been on the decline for the last two years to the point it wouldn't start. I don't know much about cars so I hesitated taking it to a mechanic in fear I would be raked over the coals. I have driven by Just Andy a few times so I looked up their reviews on Yelp...well, as I drive my car out of the shop, I can honestly say that Pierre and his team truly deserve their 5 star rating. Pierre and his team are great! I've been using him as my primary mechanic since 2015. I'm not too knowledgeable about my VW, but Pierre makes sure to tell me each thing he is repairing, why and writes everything down. Major/ costly repairs he always calls me first to confirm the go ahead. I took my car to him today to get an oil change ( because each time I took it to another "chain" oil change place I inevitably ended up needing Pierre to fix what they broke.) Anyway, he did a fantastic and thorough job. And even noticed the small things that were causing problems and repaired them. I thought I might have blown a cylinder--weak power--but Pierre figured out it was an issue with my carbs and rebuilt them for a very reasonable price. We first came to Just Andy on a referral from a friend. My husbands car has a weird gooey substance near the oil cap and wouldn't start. Without even looking at the car, Pierre was able to diagnose the problem and gave us an easy fix-it solution (for free!). Thus began our long story of bringing every car to him. He has fixed my husband's car (VW Jetta), my car (Suzuki Esteem), and went so far as to look over trucks we wanted to purchase. After we bought our 1993 Dodge D350, he not only modernized the undersides, but fabricated a stabilizer after we had a little problem with the wheel alignment (The truck carries a Lance camper). I just came back from Just Andy. I've always taken my Bug to Just Andy for repairs and maintenance but this time I had to smog it at another shop. It "failed". I was quoted $180 to repair. We brought our 2006 Passat to Pierre, the owner of Just Andy, after a really bad experience with a different mechanic. He is up front, honest and he knows his cars!! After he fixed my car, my check engine light came on again, I called him and he told me to bring it in right away. He checked it out, called the dealership and found out there was a recall on a part. He drove it to the dealership and picked it up for me at no extra charge!! He also goes into great detail and explains exactly what the problem is, and what he needs to do to fix it. Twice, he has quoted us an estimate on what it would cost to fix the problem, and both times it was actually under that quote!! I have never had that happen!! Pierre (the owner and lead mechanic of Just Andy) fixed the steering and did a 50K major maintenance on our 2008 CR-V. We were extremely happy with his work, and his follow-up. He also had to replace an additional part as a result of a bunch of other work--not his fault, but he spent over an hour installing the extra part on a follow-up visit, without charging labor. He goes out of his way to show the customer exactly what he's doing and why--we were very happy with his work and his prices (about average prices, as far as I know, but very good value given in return). This shop is also next door to Sweet Elena's, a very nice cafe with great coffee and free wireless, which is very nice when awaiting work--Pierre will come and get you when your car is ready. Note that Just Andy also has a lot of "A" reviews on Angie's List, which is where we found him. read more
