It's Halloween time gouls and gals! !!…read more This location here used to be a Walgreens. But as of a few months ago I guess it was waiting for someone to occupy and that's where Halloween City comes in to play. I believe the Halloween City has been here and opened for at least 2 maybe 3 weeks now. And I must say I do believe this is a first for Portsmouth, VA. It seemed like before, Halloween City locations were set up in every city in Hampton Roads except Portsmouth. But no need to fret any longer Halloween City is here and they're fully stocked. Well it looked like they were to me. The workers were standing by to offer any assistance. And the manager or owner of the store was jovial from the moment I walked in until the time I left. And he promised me a coupon when I return next time! Now I must say, it was maybe 2 handfuls of guests shopping last night so crowd control was superb for the workers. I can only imagine as the holiday nears it's going to be craaazy getting into there. And parking is decent right now. But as volume increases not sure how the parking will hold up... It'll be interesting to see. Nevertheless, go shop now while most sizes are still available and parking isn't an issue. They're offering 20% off of a single item (coupon needed). Costumes for everyone are here. Masks! Tats! Decor! Just go see. The spacing of the aisles are ok. Some areas are tight in maneuvering, but it's not a huge deal. It's Halloween it's all fun anyway. So squeeze through those aisles and enjoy your browsing or shopping experience! ! I'm just excited it's a new location and it's in Portsmouth! ! And I found some awesome "cherry" stuff (glasses, earrings and a scarf). :) I'd recommend this place 100% Happy Halloween! ! Have fun | Enjoy

First of all....if you need a costume of ANY sort, look no further! This place has everything from…read more80s mania to steampunk!! Wigs, shoes, masquerade masks, canes, jewelry, any accessory you need to make your "look" complete! I've never seen a collection so vast! And it doesn't have the thrift store smell!! And the service.... I have to just say WOW ! I was given advice about a western look that I was asked to wear and I was so clueless and those ladies got me together! I actually felt cute and confident because they let me know what was appropriate for the type of event I was attending and I was clueless! Thanks ladies! And the price was way lower than I expected! Especially for such quality items! And I had to take time to make this review because this makes the SECOND time I've had exceptional service there. My daughter had a Michael Jackson themed birthday party in December and I rented a Thriller jacket from them and was the talk of the party! Please don't even consider going anywhere else for a special event ensemble! They truly are the best!

I did not know this place existed but I needed a last minute mask for a masquerade party and…read moresomeone suggested I went there. They have masks all year long and order stuff too like Halloween costumes and costume jewelry. I ended up getting a mask for me and my wife and clip on earrings which came in clutch because clip on earrings are hard to find. Tracy was very helpful with helping me select the items I needed. Fair price on the items.

A great place to visit and learn about Colonial America art of fabric use and dressmaking (a.k.a…read more Milliner's shop). Colonial Williamsburg is a wonderful place to visit that really brings American history to life. It offers visitors a unique glimpse into 18th-century America with real shops, people dressed in period costumes and buildings maintained as they would be in Colonial times. Located in Williamsburg, Virginia, this living history museum spans over 300 acres and includes restored buildings, interactive exhibits, and costumed interpreters. The site is an immersive experience where you can walk along cobblestone streets, interact with blacksmiths, shopkeepers, and even participate in colonial-era activities. I would recommend starting your experience at the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center but you can go directly to the city where there is plenty of parking in parking garages along the outer streets. You can see lots of different working places in the city like bookbinders, silversmiths, gunsmiths and Milliners shop. It is located on the North side of the Duke of Gloucester street next to the SIlversmith shop. There are 3 steps up to the entrance which leads to an open room surrounded by tables and counters with examples of various articles of clothing. Behind them are some examples of their beautiful work from hats to dresses. There were several ladies working on various items, answering questions or showing how the shop worked from starting pieces to finished examples. The ladies were very knowledgeable about the colonial apparel and how it was made in that period. It was fascinating and well worth the stop for people visiting the city.

We purchased a book on clothing from the colonial times as well as several other items. One of the many shops we will return to on our next visit to Williamsburg.
