One store had cloth and faux leather at lower prices but the durability and quality didn't seem worth the lower prices. Another store had cloth, faux leather, and real leather. Once again, the quality and durability didn't seem worth it. Their leather models were good but too expensive. I felt like Goldilocks in Brandon House, the recliner fit me and my wallet just right. Staff. The staff at all three stores seemed as friendly and capable as the others. Not a difference here as far as I can tell, other than Brandon house patriarch was often in the store. Price. After determining the recliner I wanted I called the next nearest dealer in richmond. It was the same price. The price at Brandon house was not negotiable. It was already discounted off MSRP and they did not budge. Perhaps there is more selection at the big box stores on "furniture row" of Virginia Beach. Maybe. But I'm content supporting my local furniture store in downtown Suffolk.

It is a nice place tucked away in the corner of a small strip shopping center. Each time I have gone in I have been greeted by staff. Including this Sunday. I tend to walk around shops such as this one in a clockwise manner. That way I help avoid missing any treasures. Plus my friend Loretta has one of the first spaces in that direction. I like to take my time and admire all of the nice items. This shop carries a lot of vintage and antique items. It brings back such sweet memories. I saw many things I wanted but I have to keep in mind the want VA needs. After I took my first gander I went back to Loretta's Niche and picked out a ceramic piece that has 5 tubes and the word F A I T H written on each. Perfect to propogate some clippings. I also found a nice low profile ring at another space, and picked a nice chilled soda out of the refrigerator with items for sale. They have fresh coffee in a little room, with books etc for sale, if anyone wants a nice hot cup and they have bagged snacks for sale. An added bonus. The young lady who was working has been very pleasant each time I have visited recently. She also carefully wrapped my ceramic piece up nicely. There is honestly something for everyone in VA VINTAGE.

Wanted to frame a sentimental, one of a kind banner as a gift for my boss. Because of the complexity, whoever did the work needed to be trustworthy and competent. Co-worker and I decided to support local and try GB F&A from reputation (several "Best of" awards) and proximity to our office. David, shop owner, was patient, professional and helpful, showing various types of frame options (black, brown, brown with black, beveled, beaded, inlayed, etc) as well as various mat options/colors. Never tried to up-sell or offer us something we didn't need/want. We opted for a classic brown with black wood frame without a mat; since the banner was bright orange, having the finished mitred frame with cover glass look would fit into any business/home office motif. After taking a few measurements, David quoted us a price of $85. He took my phone number, we imitated shaking hands (COVID life), and he promised it would be ready in about a week. Sure enough, I got a text 1 week later saying it was ready. Finished product turned out better than imagined. Best of all, David said "it came out to be under what I quoted, $75 please." Paid via credit card quickly and easily, thanked David, and we were on our way.
