Not much selection. Wasn't worth the cost of the metered parking. Asked for price on item. Guy couldn't help us.

Very good selection of rocks and gems. We didn't do the geode cracking or sluicing, but our…read moreexperience was still pretty awesome. There was decent value for the items and good service for purchasing them. Just wish they would've told me what one of the rocks I got; it didn't have a description.

The Dells Mining Company is the reason that I went to the Dells. I watched a show on the Travel…read moreChannel about mines that sell buckets that you can sort through to find gems. It looked like fun. I believe that this company buys the buckets of sand and gems from somewhere in South Carolina. You have four options in the price of the buckets, starting at $15 and going up to $120. You pour the sand into a sifter, place it in the running water trough and look through to find gems. All of the buckets are guaranteed to have a cut gem in a plastic bag inside. It was fun. When you finish sorting you take your goodies inside and someone tells you what you've found. I had a fist-sized rose quartz that is lovely. What wasn't clear was (OMG!) how much it costs to have your gems cut. I had a gigantic garnet in my stash and asked how much it would cost. Um, $650. Nope, not gonna happen in this lifetime. I don't know tons about gems or cuts, but it seems that there is no telling what kind of quality it would be if I did decide to cut it. Then you'd have to pay for the gold setting on top of that. In the end, I decided to have the pre-cut topaz (the one from the bucket in a plastic baggie) set into a pendant. I was already in for $60 for the bucket, so why not? I paid $120 for that. A sucker is born every minute. That day I was definitely a sucker, but I had fun.

My first here time was today, and I ended up buying three knives. The Good thing about this store…read moreis that it has a very large selection of knives and swords. Some inexpensive blades and some high quality knives such as Spyderco knives. The bad thing about this store is that none of the blades have visible price stickers on them, so you have to wait to for the employee to check the prices on the knives that you are interested in. This is a problem when one employee is working the store all by himself and he is busy dealing with several customers. I waited for 15 mins before he could help me out, but he was very helpful and knowledgeable. My suggestion to store owner is to affix visible price stickers on the items. The place was very clean and well lit.

More importantly, I was fearful that they would be severely overpriced; but the prices weren't horrible. I got a standard-sized pocket knife that looks like a dagger even though it is only sharp on one side for $18.99 plus tax for reference. I've seen some negative reviews in the past; but I had a good experience at least, as I was the only person in the store who was looking to purchase something at the time. You do need to ask for the price, however, since they are not posted.
