Residents there are in various stages of Alzheimer's, dementia, and physical ailments, but the Arden Courts staff treat each person as if they were their own family. The location is kept very clean and orderly, and the staff members are very attentive to resident's needs. The single rooms in the four residents' "house" are very nice and comfortable. The nursing staff is on top of all matters and calls to let us know if there are any concerns, no matter how small. Arden Courts does a wonderful job with games, activities, crafts, outings, snacks and treats. Entertainment is common at Arden Courts, and you will often see and hear musicians, singers, performers and the like. Spiritual needs of the residents are met too though various church and communion services, and through the ministry of the St. James Fellowship, led by St. James Director and Arden Courts Chaplain, Rev. John Patterson. The food service is the best I have seen in any location. It's wonderful, and it is so comforting to know that our loved one is receiving good, nutritious food. Arden Courts' director, Ella Bostedo, is one of the most loving, caring, and sensitive people I have ever met, and her love and passion are evident throughout the facility. Taking your loved one to a memory care facility is difficult under any circumstance. But Arden Courts of Monroeville helps so much to welcome our loved one and our family, and by extension Arden Courts becomes one of OUR family members too. I highly recommend Arden Courts of Monroeville.

After a while of trusting them and not receiving a check I started asking the head of HR what was going on she began ducking and dodging my calls no answers when I did see her in the halls of work. I went to the administrator he never got back to me finally i had been paying union dues so u went to the union for help they gave them 2 days to pay me they never responded the union rep called and told me they werent responding but they did say that although they had been deducting union dues I wasnt actually in the union and they were refunding my dues. I heard nothing for months but did find out they owed another employee in the building $5000 so she filed a civil suit. I filed a civil suit against them in may went to court in july they sent an attorney plus the pathetic individual from HR they told me they only owed me $97 how would that ever add up?? Anyhow we settled for an amount I got a judgement and its now August and they still havent paid me. No honesty no integrity. I wouldnt send anyone to work there. I was warned by employees when i started there to watch your paycheck and keep track of your hours because they will cheat you on your pay. They under pay a few people every pay it is an ongoing issue. Stay away from this place. They will try and get free hlabor at the cost of your family and they have NO REMORSE!!!! M. Holmes

The entire staff at Paramount were pleasant and helpful and you can tell that they all enjoy their work and that they truly care about the patients. The nursing staff were excellent! While I hated for my husband to have to be there, the obvious dedication and compassion of the staff made me feel comfortable leaving him in their capable hands. My husband received speech therapy, and, in the short time that he was there, we noticed definite improvements in his speech and comprehension. Occupational therapy and physical therapy also were great--both in the services provided and the advice as to how to adapt his environment and his activities. The facility is very clean, the rooms are spacious, and the dining and lounge areas were comfortable and inviting. My husband enjoyed a variety of foods and was provided with alternatives if he did not want what was on the standard menu. I'm hoping he won't expect that same variety and flexibility now that he's home. If you are in need of a rehabilitation facility, I highly recommend Paramount South Hills.

My grandmother has been here for a week and when we pressed the call button we changed her diaper, cleaned her, and put her in her nightgown and still had to wait before they showed up. She pooped her pants as a result. The people are very pleasant and kind to talk to, but considering the demographic they are working with, they need to be more responsible with their time. A 20 minute minimum response for elderly patients means that they are constantly going in their diapers and are not treated as a priority in case of an emergency. Should my grandmother fall or have a stroke, she would die at this rate of care. I'm not saying the people are not trying, but for the short period I have had my grandmother here, I have been severely disappointed with the level of care that I have seen. She should not have to be put in a position of be treated like she doesn't matter. It's incredibly demeaning to go to the bathroom on yourself because you were not prioritized in place where you are rehabilitating and trying to make progress. Regardless of staffing, I should not be waiting outside her room and watching nurses stroll by when the emergency light is on outside her door. Despite what you are doing, you should at least have the decency to walk in and assess the situation. I understand all the patients have emergencies and varying situations, but you should still address the situation in some reasonable fashion rather than not acknowledge it at all. She is fed three times a day which is great. They have a pleasant atmosphere and physical rehabilitation center. The place is nice, but mainly they need more staff to respond. The call button doesn't tell the nurses what the situation is. They don't know how serious or not serious the need is. For that reason, they need to be present immediately for all responses. The patient could be dying and they would never know nor be present in time to help.

Please do your homework before placing your loved one at this facility. Please ask questions,…read moreturnover rate of staff, how many agency caregivers are working, caregiver to patient ratio. Look at the turnover rate of the people running the place. Are nurses passing meds or Med Techs, are the people providing the care CNA or caregivers, will you be notified of any changes in your loved ones condition, what exactly do you do you mean by "assisted living". What does that include? What is the average time to answer a call bell..but please do not be fooled what they do is send somebody in to quickly turn off the light and will tell your loved one, " I will tell the nurse." Help is usually at least 30 minutes away or more. Due to Covid the meals were in the room brought up in a cardboard box and 99% of the time my moms food was placed out of reach. Never opened or set up for her to eat. Not to mention the food is cold and the tiny plastic utensils that are handed out are the size for a preschooler to use and very flimsy. Many of the meals I would have a hard time eating due to the size of the bun or meat itself let alone an 85 year old woman with missing teeth. Often times the meals were just left all day without being picked up. My moms pills were left on the bedside stand more than once and I even found medicine on the floor that I am certain was charted as given. My moms pull up many times was soaking wet with urine, she did develop skin breakdown, that I had to mention to the staff to get ointment to put on. They never even saw it. Using a wipe after changing her was never even a thought, something else I had to tell the staff to do. Many meetings with the people running the place did nothing. They sat there and listened and all these false promises that never happened. My moms personal property was used for other residents, they would just come in and " borrow as needed," even during Covid. I caught the staff playing on her computer while she was asleep. Items went missing more than once. My mom like so many older people was afraid to say anything to me because of the fear of the ramifications. The second and third floor reek of urine. During many visits to my mom I would be there for hours without a single soul checking in on her. We ended up hiring help to sit with her on top of paying that astronomical prices of that place. I ended up calling the state and other places to look into this facility. I could write a book of horrors and just might. I just am trying to help others not to be fooled. I believe that place could sell snow to an Eskimo. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me, 412-742-8015. I will be more than happy to provide proof to anybody that is looking at the Paramount at BP. We had cameras installed so my complaints and concerns are 100% documented. If I could save just one elderly person from what we went through I would feel happy. I would not put a dog at this place.
