My grandmother has been here for a week and when we pressed the call button we changed her diaper, cleaned her, and put her in her nightgown and still had to wait before they showed up. She pooped her pants as a result. The people are very pleasant and kind to talk to, but considering the demographic they are working with, they need to be more responsible with their time. A 20 minute minimum response for elderly patients means that they are constantly going in their diapers and are not treated as a priority in case of an emergency. Should my grandmother fall or have a stroke, she would die at this rate of care. I'm not saying the people are not trying, but for the short period I have had my grandmother here, I have been severely disappointed with the level of care that I have seen. She should not have to be put in a position of be treated like she doesn't matter. It's incredibly demeaning to go to the bathroom on yourself because you were not prioritized in place where you are rehabilitating and trying to make progress. Regardless of staffing, I should not be waiting outside her room and watching nurses stroll by when the emergency light is on outside her door. Despite what you are doing, you should at least have the decency to walk in and assess the situation. I understand all the patients have emergencies and varying situations, but you should still address the situation in some reasonable fashion rather than not acknowledge it at all. She is fed three times a day which is great. They have a pleasant atmosphere and physical rehabilitation center. The place is nice, but mainly they need more staff to respond. The call button doesn't tell the nurses what the situation is. They don't know how serious or not serious the need is. For that reason, they need to be present immediately for all responses. The patient could be dying and they would never know nor be present in time to help.

Residents there are in various stages of Alzheimer's, dementia, and physical ailments, but the Arden Courts staff treat each person as if they were their own family. The location is kept very clean and orderly, and the staff members are very attentive to resident's needs. The single rooms in the four residents' "house" are very nice and comfortable. The nursing staff is on top of all matters and calls to let us know if there are any concerns, no matter how small. Arden Courts does a wonderful job with games, activities, crafts, outings, snacks and treats. Entertainment is common at Arden Courts, and you will often see and hear musicians, singers, performers and the like. Spiritual needs of the residents are met too though various church and communion services, and through the ministry of the St. James Fellowship, led by St. James Director and Arden Courts Chaplain, Rev. John Patterson. The food service is the best I have seen in any location. It's wonderful, and it is so comforting to know that our loved one is receiving good, nutritious food. Arden Courts' director, Ella Bostedo, is one of the most loving, caring, and sensitive people I have ever met, and her love and passion are evident throughout the facility. Taking your loved one to a memory care facility is difficult under any circumstance. But Arden Courts of Monroeville helps so much to welcome our loved one and our family, and by extension Arden Courts becomes one of OUR family members too. I highly recommend Arden Courts of Monroeville.

After being advised to place my mother here, I was completely unaware of how unprofessional the inner workings of this facility was. I cannot stress enough, DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! My mother was here for only a few weeks, and within that short time period, she was assaulted by another resident who was placed in the same room with my mother only three days prior. They neglected to have both room phones working, and when trying to call out to family, the woman tried to barricade the entryway to their room with her personal wheelchair. Once my mother had gained access to her room she tried to call home, when the resident came up behind her and proceeded to punched her in the chest... Prior to these events, upon this resident being relocated to my mother's suite, she had demanded that tv's should not be utilized. The staff do not monitor nor protect residents from these horrid interactions. Nor do they evaluate the compatibility for rooming residents together. Staff members yell at you when trying to report incidents. They falsify what is being reported without being present on scene during these horrendous acts. It is beyond shocking that workers who yell at residents are still being employed at this establishment. Management does not fall far behind the staff, as they too are unsupported and provide no assistance in protecting our loved ones. In modern times you are not allowed to simply assault someone and get away with it. They had no care in the world for what had occured, I only wish I had better advisement in choosing a location for my mother. Please be warned what can occur in this facility...
