Juniper's was our first dinner in Lanesboro. Make reservations as there is limited seating and they do have to turn away walk-up's. When you check in, you are seated with menus. When you've decided what you want to eat, you go up to the counter and order your meal and drinks. Your meal is delivered to your table. It's an easy way to help reduce staff and it's quite efficient. The menu is carefully constructed and is not a vast array of options. I chose the squash ravioli and it was very good. Portions were large but not wasteful. My meal came with two slices of garlic bread, also very good. We started with cheese curds. They were good but would have liked them a little more cooked and crispier. The area is lovely. We sat outside on the patio which overlooked the creek and bridge. Candles set a romantic atmosphere. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Great stop.

We were absolutely blown away by the hospitality at Juniper's. Last minute they accommodated over a group of 20 (they opened up a section of the restaurant that was closed). I was expecting extraordinary food, but as we sat down we found out that the Chef here (Tyler Shipton) previously worked at some of our FAVORITE restaurants in the twin cities. These restaurants, had amazing reputations for high quality food. The food here surpassed all my expectations. The ingredients are sourced with intentionality, and the food is cooked with delicacy. The fried cauliflower was probably my favorite! It's a little expensive, but worth it! Lastly, the views on the patio are great. You can hear the streams flowing of the root river; it's incredibly soothing. I look forward to returning next year!

Great variety of well prepared flavorful dishes.

We came up to Lanesboro for a few days of biking along the magnificent Root River Trail. The town is small. A few spots to eat and bars along Main Street. Junipers was open and we were glad to have dinner there. Very friendly staff, owners, amazing chef. Fresh farm to table flavorful and abundant presentations. If the salmon with faro, mushroom soup and roasted cauliflower is on the menu we highly recommend these dishes. They offer a great burger. Vegan and veggie choices. Reasonable and nice beer and wine selection as well as a few cocktails. Please support these owners who really love what they do. Next trip we are parked for dinner here again!

Elevated fast casual cuisine. Orders are placed at a counter and brought to the table. Juniper's sits on the banks of the Root River and offers covered, heated seating area. Service was prompt and the staff is very warm and friendly. The food is outstanding!

Yesterday she completed her treatments and I took her to Terza to celebrate. Everything was superb - beginning with the spot on attentive wait staff service, very well crafted Negroni cocktail (love that they use Amaro Montenegro over run of the mill Rosso Vermouth), and the crazy good deep fried cheese balls. These were served with the house "Mother Sauce", which is the chef's grandmother's home recipe. My first comment to the staff was that they could close the restaurant and simply sell this sauce in jars at the grocery store and retire - it's that good. On to the main course, mom had the chicken scallopini with house made taglietelle and I had the house made gnocchi. The chicken was pounded thin and tender, breading perfectly seasoned and sauce well. Generous portion served with 4 cutlets and a nice side of pasta. The house made pasta was tender and paired with a really delicious mushroom sauce (I could just have plate of that for dinner and be happy). But the star of the show was the gnocchi. I have had many gnocchi in Italy. I have made many gnocchi at home. If you have had gnocchi you probably know it can be light or it can sit like a rock in your belly. This gnocchi was on another level. It was so delicate and fluffy, and sauteed to give it a nice browned surface. I cannot say enough about what a skilled and delicate hand it takes to make a gnocchi like this. I would drive the 5 hours back to Rochester just to eat this again. We finished our meal with the dessert special. It was a lemon semolina cake with a perfect sugary crust and an incredible whipped vanilla-marscapone cream and blueberry sauce. Umm - can I have another please? I don't know what else to say but if you are NEAR Rochester you should go eat at Terza.

The greeting and service was excellent. The manager (owner?) came around to genuinely check on our table and all others. The food each of us had was a 5!! We look forward to visiting here again on our next visit!

"It's a Sicilian message. It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes." (The Godfather)…read more At Sapori di Sicilia, the message is considerably more appetizing: "Eat the pasta and nobody gets hurt." Walking in for the first time, I half-expected owner Eric Mullen to greet me with cotton-stuffed cheeks and a brooding stare. Instead -- as one Yelp reviewer memorably noted -- Eric looks like he's straight out of Super Mario, more likely to trade you a heavenly mocha for three gold coins than make you an offer you can't refuse. After a four-month pilgrimage to Italy in 2018 to learn the art of Sicilian cooking, Mullen returned to Winona and opened Sapori in 2020, filling a gap in the local food scene roughly the size of a horse head in a mobster's bed. The city desperately needed authentic Italian food, and Sapori delivered. No favors owed. No strings attached. *This time.* Everything here is made by hand: pasta, sauces, bread, pastries, and the gelato. The whole operation, with no shortcuts. The Bronze-cut Pasta: It clings to the sauce with the loyalty of a wartime consigliere who knows exactly where the bodies are buried. The pistachio pesto stands out, though it could use a touch more olive oil or pasta water. A minor grievance that doesn't warrant a trip to the river bottom in concrete shoes. The Pastries and Cakes: Genuinely dangerous. The Mascarpone cheesecake and chocolate cake slice are to die for -- and I mean that in the most Sicilian sense possible. Eat them. Tell no one. The Gelato: Should be under federal investigation. Light, creamy, and so authentically Italian it practically has its own accent. The pale green pistachio is rich, nutty, and deeply serious about its heritage. The Vibe: Warm. Hospitable. A real hit, but with zero cleanup crews required. The Verdict: Leave the gun. And for the love of all that is holy, take the cake and gelato too. You don't need a passport, a secret handshake, or a letter of introduction from a guy who knows a guy. Just show up hungry and show the proper respect.

The service was great, we had a party of 12 and they accommodated us with great attention. Definitely recommend the gelato for dessert as well as a beautifully made cannoli enjoyed with a macchiato.

A quick search led us to the co-op. Their website has the daily menu posted which was extremely helpful (and tantalizing!) Their hours were reasonable given the season and the options plentiful. Both days of chilly, cold climbing ended with trips to the co-op for fresh organic veggies, fruit, as well as chocolate and snacks. But also with a HOT MEAL which was so appreciated by us. We took everything to our hotel room and feasted. Everything was delicious and the staff was so friendly and wonderful. The kitchen space (which was open and visible) was clean, organized and smelled great. The soups were awesome also and the leftovers from the day prior were available to take home and heat (so we were able to try one we thought we missed from the day prior - lucky us!) We enjoyed everything and love the prepackaged salads and desserts as well as the mains. The whole place was easy to navigate and had wonderful options. We know we have a good option for healthy, organic, and plant-based food during our next visit to Winona to climb which we are already looking forward to. Kudos to the staff of this co-op and to the community for supporting such a wonderful establishment. Winona is an impressive little community that should continue to support the outdoor activities year round it can host. We were glad to bring our dollars and our business to the community thanks to the folks running the ice climbing park and this awesome co-op.
