We started heading pretty far away from snake river and started getting concerned we were not going to like the location/camp site. We turned off the main highway and we were not optimistic at all. BUT, as soon as we started pulling up to the park and saw the blue on the GPS, we knew it was going to be at least decent. This has turned out to be the BEST park we have camped. We miss it already. We were at site A 01 and it had a yuge green area right in front of the camper and was the closest camp site for a walk to the lake (which is beautiful by the way). We enjoyed ourselves so much that we did not mind the long drives to Jackson, Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone. The west entrance to YNP in Montana had a great little town that provided a great lunch after our visit to the park. This is a MUST stay in my opinion if you have kids or dogs or both. All of this and it's only $25.

A Hidden Gem for a County Campground Most recent stay was 8/04/16 - I'm "late" in posting my review ~ We camp in a "Tear Drop" style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area Overall this park has nice facilities; 3 loops with paved roads and sites which are very nicely spaced-out and mixed together with grass & juniper bushes. It has flush toilets and spacious showers in every loop. The showers have dated and annoying spray heads but decent water pressure w/hot water and a bench in changing area. All are kept clean. No dump station however, and no hooks or shelves in shower stalls or community sink area - air dryers only no paper towels for you to clean up the sinks after use. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring with lots of room between them and all sit on top of relatively flat plateau above the reservoir. some sites have very little shade (the juniper bushes provide spots of low-lying shade for the sitting area), but limited shade for the RV & it can get very hot in summer. Many sites have full hookups (either 30 or 50 amp/water/sewer), plus prices are outstanding. Overnight Camping Fees: $10.00 tent area and dry dock camping (only $18 for FHU!). ($2.00 discount for Idaho State Parks and Recreation Golden Age pass holders) Most sites have no view of the water except for sites 10,12,14 This park is way out there near the Juniper Dam Recreation Area; very quiet, about 20 mi from Idaho Falls where you can shop for groceries and eat at restaurants.

Our little tent on our little campsite. We had to place the tent between the trees because of the crazy wind that night

Last minute great campground find! Running water, flush toilets, and supposedly working showers (haven't tried but they look clean). The evening person I called slightly panicky since we didn't know where we are going to stay the night yet, was extremely nice and reserved a spot for us. Overall a wonderful campsite and staff.

This is one of the cleanest RV parks we've ever stayed in and very reasonably priced as well.

In other words, this creek is gorgeous--you must see it. I came to Jackson for a retreat over the weekend with Junior League CARE Fair directors and chairpersons. Every time we left and returned to our cabin, we got to enjoy this view. We even had the opportunity to walk alongside the creek. It was very easy and the view will vanish every worry you have. There are several well made bridges that you can walk/drive over as well. Area is very clean with crisp blue water. It didn't look too deep, but it was so perfect that to even dip my feet in the water seemed offensive to mother nature. Not to say I wasn't tempted. Overall, I probably wouldn't drive 5 hours just for this one creek, but the surrounding contains so many scenic opportunities that you have to hit up this place if you're in the area. You just have to. Happy travels, my Yelpers!

Situated deep within the Gros Ventre Mountains east of Jackson and Hoback Junction, Granite Creek -…read morethe campground, the waterfall, and the hot springs - are pure Wyoming outdoors magic. Sure, the mountains here don't captivate you with their granite-tipped titillation, and there aren't the glacial lakes that you'll be mesmerized by in Grand Teton National Park, nor will you mistake this area for the magnificent Wind River Mountains, the Bighorns, or the Snowy Range, but my oh my, Granite Creek is one pretty, pretty piece of nature. The USFS campground is one of the best I've found in the northern Rockies, with great sites overlooking the creek and sheltered by pines and awash in wildflowers from mid-June to August. The Granite Creek Falls are powerful to behold: not ethereal like Yosemite or awesome like Niagra or Multnomah, but what they lack in vertical elevation and volume they make up for in up-close-and-personal intimacy. You can literally dip your toes in the raging white torrents that fall from above into a creek that is so pure and clean that moose, elk, bear, and cranes simply love to stay here. You'll also find a superb CCC hot springs up the road, where you and your friends/family can soak in bliss while enjoying easy access to the Gros Ventre wilderness a mere mile or so up the main trail that follows the creek to its source. If you are in the Jackson Hole area, a side trip to Granite Creek - on dirt and gravel roads well maintained by the Forest Service - offers you another glance at Wyoming's wild lands that you won't find at Grand Teton. The falls are a great side trip, as are the hot springs, and the campground is well suited for car campers and RVers alike. All in all, this is a part of the Cowboy State that I never tire of seeing, season in, season out. Who needs to stay in Jackson for hundreds of bucks when affordable, adorable places like this are so close and enticing?

Paid $12 per adult (prices went up slightly this year but WELL worth it in my opinion). The gentleman who runs the place was incredibly kind and lent me his personal towel as I forgot to pack my own. The water temperature was 92 degrees. The pool was quiet, only a few families and couples. Probably the most unique thing we did on our vacation. Tips: - the last 10 miles of the road is unpaved through a mountain and quite bumpy - I get motion sickness so we drove quite slowly - bring your own towel

You'll travel south from Jackson to the Hoback Junction, traffic circle 3/4 turn. Take US 191 12 miles until you reach gravel/dirt Granite Creek Road taking a left. Do not go by the Yelp address listed as it's incorrect, and I haven't been able to find the specific address. Be prepared for an 11 mile bumpy ride while viewing gorgeous Granite Creek running through the Gros Ventura Mountains in the Bridger Teton National Forest. At the end of the road Granite Springs pool awaits you. Check for current pricing before you go, only open in summer (by car) and winter (by snowmobile, skis or dog sled). Also, important to note, you'll have no cell service within this area. Soak your cares away while enjoying the gorgeous Mountain View and the evergreen forest.
