There were 7 different sliders to try, which seemed like a smarter option than eating a whole burger, but I only chose to try 2. The Roadhouse slider had bacon, onion straws, melted cheese and bbq sauce and was extremely good. The other one was a Cow Guy Burger, which was topped with bacon jam, melted cheese, parmesan slaw, onion straws and bbq sauce. Although they had somewhat similar ingredients they tasted very different. The Cow Guy Burger was messier to eat, but equally as good. At the time we left the festival, this truck was in first place as the crowd favorite. I hope they won, as they were extremely good. Staff was pleasant and patient, prices were reasonable and everything was run efficiently. Hope to see them at another festival.

The flavors were all working well with each other, but the tortilla chips didn't seem to be cooked long enough and were mostly chewy. My girlfriend had the Veggie Quesadilla, minus all of the veggies. It was very cheesy, fresh and delicious. The folks working the counter were very accomodating when asked to place the avacado on the side. All-in-all, it is an interesting concept. In today's age of fast food that seems to be sitting under a food warmer and being prepared long before you order, there is an unrealistic expectation that a food truck will spit your order out in a minute or two. I played on my phone for a while and was delighted when my name was called. The meat was perfectly seasoned and there was no skimping on the portions. The liberal amount of sauce on top added to the tastiness (and most definitely the messiness) of this dish. I'm hoping this food truck comes back soon. Not only for a chance to try some other of their tasty dishes, but also because of the friendliness of the woman at the window, and for how (relatively) quickly my food was served.

In part because Konan's isn't too far from the Tampa airport (around a 10 minute drive), I've often made it my first stop when coming to town. Konan's is a black-owned BBQ restaurant located in a residential neighborhood that's not too far from Raymond James Stadium where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play. Speaking of football, the family that owns and runs the restaurant has produced a few D-I basketball and football players, including a current player who's projected to be a high-round NFL draft pick in the next draft. The last time I was here was a Friday, a little before noon. It hadn't gotten too busy yet so wasn't much of a wait in line. Ordered my favorite meal there, which is the 2-meat (ribs and pulled pork) combo ($17). The combo comes with two sides - I usually get the flavored rice (Rice 'a la Trigg) and the mac and cheese. The meal also includes a slice of bread. Lemonade is $3 extra, bottled water $2. As always, the ribs and pulled pork were excellent. I especially love the yellow sauce (I think a mustard sauce) they use to flavor their meats and rice side dish, which is a unique staple of this restaurant. The mac and cheese is always very tasty as well. Their food is also always well-portioned - I always leave very full! Altogether my meal came out to around $21, which was a very fair price for two meats, two sides, and a lemonade. Konan's does give a small discount if you pay with cash rather than credit. It seems most customers come here for take-out, though there's plenty of seating both inside and outside the restaurant. The staff is always very friendly, though I'm not too big on the fact that they're big Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans (LOL). If you've never been would definitely check it out! We had ordered two appetizers to share , and were finishing when she came over. We were on the outside patio , our Chihuahuas were contained in their carriers, and the only time one of them barked was when the waiter came by. We were there early at 11:30. For 15 minutes we were the only ones out there , then this elderly couple came and when they walked by us the elderly woman gave us a dirty look. Five minutes later another couple sat but further away from us. That woman seemed to be the only one with a problem. I should have asked the manager that if someone had complained about a screaming child( which usually is constant) would they have been asked to leave? I really like the food , and the service but we are contemplating whether to go there again because frankly we felt insulted! We only brought the dogs to begin with because my daughter is going on a trip and she is leaving the dogs with us. So we were exchanging them, and thought we would have lunch. The manager and the elderly couple ruined the experience for us. The manager told us that pets were not permitted but I checked in two different places , and pets are permitted on their patio. I feel they should either change their policy , or inform the manager as to what the policy is because she told us that pets were not allowed!
