They were able to change the tv to show an obscure sports event we wanted to see, without getting three or more people involved, as my experiences often have been. Beer selection is above average but not quite astounding. Beer snobs won't be blown away but will find something they like. I had the Hummingbird Chicken Sandwich and it was simple but good. Pretzel appetizer was enough to share among three. Wife had the Classic Burger and was pleased with the burger and the fries. Awesome food in a relaxed atmosphere served quickly and hot; what more can you want or ask for? I ordered the grilled chicken panini with mozzarella, roasted pepper, bacon, and balsamic and it was served perfectly crisp, even the bacon. I really appreciate when people actually follow directions and provide you with your request!!! The young lady who was our server was super sweet and friendly and the tater tots the panini came with were awesome. We have to head back up to Albany in the Spring for the admin program I'm in, so I can only assume we will be heading back there during our Sunday lunch break since it's so conveniently located to the College of St. Rose. I've been here a number of times over the last few years. Juniors always delivers a consistent experience in terms of food (I usually buy burgers and chicken sandwiches here). The fries are good, having a good crunch to potato ratio. The beer selection is above average. They have something for most tastes. However when it comes to asking for advice on drinks from the waitstaff, make sure they can actually legally drink. . We had a great, friendly waitress that was underage and couldn't really talk to anything concerning any drinks on the menu. I'll definitely end up coming here again. read more

Went here on a Saturday evening with my gf. Walked in and sat immediately, was not busy. We started out with some moonshine wings and they were fantastic. They are different from any other type of wing you will get anywhere else. They have a honey mustered type taste to them. They are crispy, perfect amount of meat and the sauce is just pure awesomeness. My gf got a salad for her main dish and it was romaine lettuce with spinach, not that iceberg type lettuce(which I love). I decided to get the personal deep dish pizza, and I have to say I would go there for the pizza! The crust had a crispy exterior and a soft delicious interior. After living in Buffalo for a few years, where so many local bars/restaurants put their own stamp on this hometown classic, but nearly all still manage to turn out wonderfully crispy, incredibly meaty, and perfectly sauced-and-tossed wings, I had been craving a local option that was even slightly comparable. However, during my quest to find a Buffalo-esque Buffalo wing in Albany, what I found 'round these parts looked (and tasted) something closer to baby quail wings floating in a bucket of generic-brand wing sauce that was left in the back of the fridge for a few days. Juniors was a pleasant reminder of the Buffalo wing I've so dearly missed. I generally shy away from Juniors, daunted by the large college crowds. But school's out for the summer and I was in need of some wings! It took a good ten minutes and several servers walking past me before someone offered to seat me. Apparently, I was not standing close enough to the hostess stand to indicate that I wanted to be seated (whoops!). However, the hostess eventually scored us a seat outside on their patio (after asking a few guys who were using the table just for beers to move to the bar so we could eat). Juniors has great outdoor seating -- a nice patio facing Madison and an indoor-outdoor bar that gives the place a hint of a beach bar vibe. Service: three stars: Our waiter was nice, but she was distracted. It was about ten minutes before our order was taken, ten more until we got our beers, our waters didn't come out until after our entrees, and the entrees themselves came out pretty slowly. A couple seated two minutes before us were served and finished their wings before we even got ours. I think our waiter had just too many tables to juggle. We weren't in a rush, so the delay didn't bother us much. Wings: four stars: the wings were not very meaty, but did excel where I've found many local joints to lack -- the wings were actually crispy! I've had more rubbery, soggy, slimy-skinned wings in Albany-area establishments than I would care to mention (ugh). The crisp outside is just the way a wing should be, in my humble opinion. The sauce was on the money, too. We ordered medium, and tasted just as it should, like Frank's Red Hot and Butter. Only thing I would have liked is for a just a few more carrots and celery sticks. Only three small carrots and three pretty wimpy pieces of celery. As someone who doesn't use blue/bleu cheese, a couple more veggies would have been nice to balance the heat. I would have asked for more, but by the time our waiter got back to us, it wouldn't have been worth it (wings largely gone by then). Fries, decent but pretty sure they were of the frozen variety. However, they were crisp on the outside, which is better than other places! Came here for dinner as I was in town for my little brothers graduation from SUNY Albany. It's Friday night at 11pm and there's limited staff. Which is a bit weird considering it's a Friday night and there's 3 waiters/hostess. So here's my break down: food is good. As good as it can be for a bar that serves wings and burgers. Service is absolutely horrendous. I get that I may be use to the service level in manhattan but it shouldn't be an excuse at this establishment. I get the communal part of helping your colleagues out and sharing tip but that's not an excuse to do a very poor job. So a few things that bothered me. Waitress came to take our order and disappeared for a good 30 minutes. My mother of course spilled her water everywhere and we asked for help. The hostess said she'll be right back. But went ahead and helped two other people. Someone from the KITCHEN had to help my mother out. Fine, whatever. Then we needed to order more meals and my father needed another drink. Again, waitresses were MIA. I then kindly ask that our waitress check at our table in a timely manner. It's not too much to ask to come check in every 15-20 minutes or so. And ofcourse, no surprise, attitude. This is my pet peeve of all. Horrible waitresses. I don't care if it's in a college town, you work for your tips and you give the best customer service as you possibly can. I've waitresses in the past, hell, I started out at Applebee's for crying out loud (which is like the lowest of the low in terms of establishments). I was still taught best practices on waiting on customers. Recommendation to their managers: graduation weekend when families are traveling all over and your customer traffic increases - it may make sense to increase your staff? I don't know, give it a try. Business 101 on supply vs demand. Secondly, train your waitresses and staff a bit better please. It's not worth it when you get people giving you horrible ratings. Husband and I came for lunch on a Saturday on the anniversary of our first date at Junior's seven years ago. It wasn't so much a date-date, but more of a let's-meet-for-drinks-after-work kind of date. Anyway, this is where it began for us. All together now: "Awww!" I would classify Junior's as a college bar, and therefore not somewhere I'd come for late night drinks as I creep closer to 30. I would have to disagree with those who describe it as a dive bar, only because I would never come to a dive bar for lunch, and frankly I'm not sure that a true dive bar would even serve lunch. When we arrived, there were 3 or 4 other booths of younger 20-somethings and a few 40-60 year olds eating and drinking at the bar. The jukebox was being fed by one of them, so we listened to The Who during most of our visit. Junior's is relatively small with approximately 15 booths/ tables and a long bar on one side. They have nearly 20 flat screen TVs throughout, which I felt was a huge number of TVs for a space of this size. They also have electronic games mounted on some of the tables, so Husband and I passed the time with a few friendly games of photohunt and trivia. I was impressed when we sat down at the sheer size of the menu. They naturally have a number of fried appetizers, as well as a large selection of pizzas, burgers, salads, subs, sandwiches, paninis and wraps. The waitress was very friendly and attentive throughout. She rattled off a list of about ten beers they have on tap, which must change because there was only a menu for the bottled beer options. We started off with the Moonshine wings (see pic). Since they advertise on the menu that the wings are "award winning", we felt they shouldn't be skipped. And they were pretty damn tasty. A little heavy on the sauce for my liking (read: sloppy), but a generous size, nicely cooked and the sauce had a good tang to it. For the main course, the husband had the Yates Street Dagwood sandwich (pic), a hearty sandwich including turkey, ham, roast beef, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo. He said it was good, although I didn't try it. I went with the Whiskey River sandwich (pic) consisting of grilled chicken marinated with their whiskey barrel BBQ sauce, plus Monterrey Jack cheese, bacon and onion on a kaiser roll. It wasn't amazing but better than I would have expected for lunch at a bar. The ingredients were all fresh, and this variety of BBQ sauce was also very good. I could give Junior's two stars, to be honest, because I have certainly had better. I decided on three only because I felt that the quality of the food was pretty good for a place whose business is more focused on the bar, and there wasn't anything overtly negative about our visit. Back in the day I frequented juniors on Madison quite often when my office was in Albany. Since those many years ago I have found juniors in north Greenbush. That has become a favorite for nights where you just want some good quality bar food. In all fairness however, it's a little better than ordinary barfood. Nonetheless, it's consistent and reasonably priced. Before the Covid thing, I could safely say that I ordered from North Greenbush a couple of times a week. Fast forward Fourth of July 2020, year of the shit, North Greenbush is closed Albany is open. So, remembering Wayback when on how good -Albany used to be, it was a no brainer. Ordered $40 worth of food. The sandwich was good, not great but good. Appetizer was good. The pizza was absolutely positively the most disgusting thing I've ever had to eat from a restaurant in the past 20 years. Cold, undercooked, And way different than North Greenbush. There was hardly any cheese and the sauce was sickening sweet which did not go well with the meat lovers pizza. The only thing I could think was they use the wrong sauce. I understand it's a holiday and the restaurant industry is very busy especially when you're one of the few establishments open. Word of advice if you're going to be open, bring your A game. If I was the one bite pizza review guy they would've gotten a .08 which is equivalent to the legal drinking age which I would've had to be in order to stomach more than one bite. Sad thing was, I live five minutes from north Greenbush but took the trek to Albany only to be immensely disappointed. I believe I'm a pretty fair reviewer. Shame on Jr's who gained my business after the disappointment of my Place and a few other local establishments. My son had the king wings and his girlfriend has the moonshine wings. When they cane out I could smell the spicy on mine and they were cooked to perfection, crispy and juicy. Big kudos to Juniors today. We placed an order through a 3rd party delivery service, to be brought to our father at Albany Med - who is not only stuck in there alone with covid but also is a quadriplegic who is in a really crappy situation right now. The third party vendor never brought the food (although they did pick it up from juniors) and stated they never got responses on attempts to contact us to let us know they are there. Upon speaking to the manager at juniors and letting him know about our circumstance, he not only told us he was going to remake all the food fresh but hand delivered the food himself to the hospital to be brought right up to my dad. This is one of my favorite places to go for dinner. Everything on the menu is delicious. They have a solid beer list with your classics like blue moon but also a few craft beers that rotate. They also have cocktail drink specials which are delicious; the mojito is a favorite of mine. There is a good variety of food on the menu, ranging from salads (which can be made into wraps), to burgers, to pizza. Their boneless wings are amazing; I highly recommend trying to moonshine sauce. But it was still yummy. My burger looked extremely delicious! I actually got so much food I wasn't able to finish all of it. I took a bite of my burger and it was delicious! The fried egg, bacon and the Sriracha was delicious. The price of the burger was about 12-15 dollars which wasn't too bad! The service here was extremely good and the staff here was really nice. At approximately 9:30 Ala friend and myself walked in to Juniors a place that i frequent often on Friday night... it took me about 10 mins to get a drink at the bar... i then put in an order of food to go, while me and a friend waited for our food we had a drink and a shot. It took about 40 mins for my burger that i often order and it took my friend about twice that time to get a double order of boneless wings and fries. The owners refuse to put any money into the business. If an 18 month old keg of Nine Pin is your drink of choice, head on to down to juniors. If not, how about an absolute bottle from Stone Crow?
