The only reason I did not give a 5 star is because i mentioned to her how short i want my hair to be cut (about my chest area) but without warning she just cut and cut and she was so fast before i can say anything the hair is already shorter than what I wanted and unfortunately i can't stop her or even have time to say anything. i wish she communicate more with me while cutting. I got a really good haircut from this salon! My hair was damaged on the ends from bleaching and not being cut for a year. I asked my hair cutter if she could trim the ends without losing much length and she did a great job. She layered my hair in such a way that she gave me volume, which my stick straight Asian hair never had. Let be start off by saying I am actually a hairstylist myself and I work in SF. I should have scheduled a haircut with someone I know but I was being impulsive and I just wanted a inch off my length because I'm growing my hair out but I wanted my layers brought up. I thought, this is a simple ask. Well, since I am a hairstylist myself the first red flag was... I walked in for my 11am appointment and the first stop was to wash my hair. Which seems crazy because there should be a consultation between stylist and client about what services and haircut details are needed. Nope. My hair was washed. I said 'I want an inch off and my layers brought up'. Stylist said 'ok trim' that's it. I knew immediately she cut off way more than an inch because I know my measurements. I honestly just close my eyes because I knew my hair was now going to be much shorter when I really just wanted my layers reshape. The wash,haircut and blowdry was all done in 30mins. I was out the door at 11:30am. I tipped well $75 30mins haircut. I am also in the tipping industry so it's hard for me not to. As another hairstylist professional I'm very surprised at the price vs the experience& results. I am unhappy about the length of my haircut and shape. But I am very particular. I went to this salon for the first time to get a haircut today. I did have to wait a little bit even though I made an appointment, but the wait wasn't too long (maybe 15 min?). The salon was clean and cozy, so I didn't mind the wait. They have water, coffee and tea with some magazines which was nice. I asked the stylist to give me layers and cut my hair a little below the shoulder. I think she did a good job. My hair has more volume now and it frames my face well, which is all I ever really want from my haircuts. It is sort of on the pricier end ($70), but otherwise a good place. With most of the businesses I visit (especially without any recommendations), I would turn to Yelp to read visitors' reviews; and that is what I did today. I was so tired of my dull lifeless hair, so searched for a salon in the area and found Juni. There were not many reviews, but I took a chance here... I called for a same day appointment for a partial perm and haircut, and was able to secure a 3:30PM spot. Not going to lie, I was nervous after I made the appointment, but am so glad I came here for this service! Jennifer (owner of salon) was the only person in the shop when I arrived. She was finishing up with a customer and greeted me promptly. The salon was well stocked with various hair products and the place is clean and very welcoming. Jennifer is an awesome stylist. She listened to what I wanted in a perm. She showed me pictures and made suggestions on what would suit my hair. She was very sweet and easy to talk to, and assured me I will get the wave I like, and not to worry. I asked for a slightly layered cut and loose waves/curls, and she delivered. She also treated my hair prior to the digi perm since my hair was dry. The haircut, treatment, shampoo, and, DIGI PERM process took 2.5 hours, incl dry and style. Needless to say, I was very anxious to see the end result. Jennifer showed me some tricks on how to style my hair, and gave me some do's and don'ts on how to dry and style. I am very pleased with the outcome and will definitely be back for a trim in 3 months, and, depending if I need touch up or not, maybe another perm in 6 months or so. By far the worst haircut of my life. I tried this place for the first time thinking "how hard would it be to trim off 2 inches of my hair"? The imperfections are horrendous. The cut is super choppy, the line is not even straight, and the customer service was lackluster at best. Please, pay the extra $20-40 at a high quality salon. It's worth it. I went there for hair perm and cut. I clearly showed the picture of hair I preferred and told the lady that I wanted pixie bob. I also told her that I knew it was impossible to have an identical cut, but please use this picture as reference. She told me she understood what I wanted. Guess what! She cut my hair so fast without measuring and also she was rushing for next client. The chemical dropped to my face a couple of times and shampoo soap dropped to eyes a couple of times, too. Rushing! Rushing! Rushing! It made me so uncomfortable and really wanted to walk out for air ASAP. Pixie bob style has hair covering the ears which provides us flexibility to creat different look daily. I would highly recommend this place for anyone with a hair fiasco to be taken cared of! I recently came in here for a haircut and was very pleased. Not only the hairdresser Jennifer was very nice and accommodating, she also gave advice on hair care. She washed my hair before the cut because I had product in my hair, and according to others, she also washes your hair after if you haven't washed your hair the day of. The COVID protocol here seems secure. There are plastic sheets between every station, and only about 1-2 people are allowed in at once. I was very satisfied with my haircut and the service. I'm a Berkeley student so I've l tried places like Edge, but Juni Salon is my favorite -- Jennifer is extremely nice and detailed during the process, and small things like washing your hair after the cut adds to the experience. I can always count on Jennifer for a reliable haircut! It's definitely more the expensive side but the hair cuts and experience is worth it. I went to Juni salon for the first time to get a much needed haircut and Japanese Hair Straightening and I'm very happy with the results! They recently opened a few weeks ago with social distancing protocols in place. They have plastic sheets between each station, took my temperature upon entry, have plenty of hand sanitizer available, and both myself and the owner wore masks the entire time (the whole 4 hour procedure). It was my first at the salon so I was a little nervous at the start of the straightening process. I'm used to the Yuko straightening system and this salon uses a different brand, but all of my worries were put to rest by the owner who explained how the process differs from Yuko (the main difference is that the solution is applied to dry hair rather than wet hair). Now my hair is straight and smooth and so much easier to maintain! I just gained hours of my life back by not having to flat iron my hair every morning. Thanks Juni Salon! read more

I had requested for Jennifer due to the positive reviews. She was very nice and professional, but the cut she gave me was the worst I've ever gotten. It was also the quickest. I had requested her to cut my hair shorter and to give me some layers. She spent about 12-15 min and was done. The layers were not even at all and did not show a progression of short in the front to longer in the back. When I didn't see the layers, I asked if she can give me more layers and she said that her style isn't like that. It's more textured and messy, hence, that was what I got. She gave me 2 more snips on the left and right and I was thinking I could have done that myself with no technique... The cut came to $60+tip, which is quite pricey for a quick cut that did not meet simple expectations. The cost also included a hair wash in the beginning. It was also very quick and rough, given by an older lady. I would not recommend coming here if you want a simple cut with layers. read more

Love the owner. I always request for her whenever I do anything to my hair. I only get haircuts here, or in Korea. Juni isn't a hippster Korean miss. Nope. She's like a mum. Actually she is a mum, to a beautiful grown, married daughter. The service is so great here. So if your final product on your head isn't what you thought you said, perhaps you need to check yourself, and understand that clear communication begins with TWO people. I've been to Juni Salon twice now, which is a big deal for me. I rarely go to the same stylist twice. I only cut my hair two or three times a year. I really trust Sora with my hair and highly recommend her! Each time I've visited, Sora has taken a lot of time to thoroughly examine my hair and give me a great cut. She explained everything she was doing the on my first visit, telling me that different parts of your head have different thicknesses/density of hair and that a good haircut balances out all of these varying areas. My first haircut, which was an attempt to fix a terrible cut I got a Givae salon, took nearly an hour and a half, including styling. You know you got a good haircut when you're immediately hit on as you step out of the salon! Other details: Haircut cost $50. Street parking one street over for free, or pay for a meter. I really did not expect my 300 dollar hair dye wane off within ONE month. I came to this place to color my hair in dark blue so it is not visible indoor but shiny outdoor under the sun. Just within 1 month, the color is completely gone and now the light yellow color layer the hair dresser put on beneath the actual color is now there. It just looks TERRIBLE! I definitely regretted going to Juni Salon. I had paid $60, plus tips to make myself look ugly. I was her only client that day which had already said much about the business. I had expressed dissatisfaction with my cut and gave her a chance to make it right. On every attempt, she just doesn't understand English, had kept arguing with me, and feeding me BS--that I needed to come more often so, she can better understand me and the haircut I wanted to achieve. I had to go outside and put coins in the meter where my car was parked just for her to waste my time again. TL;DR: Don't waste your time and money. Cut was simple, poorly executed, and overpriced. I've been getting my hair cut from Jennifer for a little over a year now & love coming here! Jennifer is very friendly & thorough in her work. She definitely strives to make her customers happy and satisfied when they leave. I have had no complaints about the way she cuts my hair (which is a typical Korean/Asian hair type). She's recently re-opened (from the COVID closures) & takes proper precautions, like wearing masks & adding plastic dividers between chairs. I felt perfectly safe coming in for my haircut. I am Korean American and fluent in both the Korean and English language. Apparently, I must neither look Korean nor look like I can speak Korean, because what happened to me in this salon will make your jaw drop and make you cringe. This was a few years ago and I'm only leaving a review now because my Aupair just recently went there and had a bad experience too. (I didn't recommend this place to her. She totally found it on her own.) I went there to get my bangs cut. Thats it. I figured it would cost about $15 - 20. It took about 15 minutes to do. The nice woman who cut my hair asked the owner how much she should charge me, in Korean. The owner was casually sweeping the floor next to us when she looked up and said $45, in Korean. I didn't flinch but I was very surprised to hear her say that. Then the woman who was cutting my hair said "Thats too much. I'm only cutting the front of her hair." Again, in Korean. Then the owner looked at me again and said in Korean "She can afford it. Charge her $45." The hair stylist finished cutting my bangs, took me up front the register and charged me $15. I kept quiet the whole time but I was pretty upset and was probably shaking at that point. Also, grateful for this rebel hair stylist for her integrity and honest heart. I was going to walk out and saying something to them in Korean to the owner, but nothing embarrasses me more than seeing someone else embarrassed, so I walked out and vowed never to go back again. And I haven't. They know how to cut hair but I will never contribute my hard earned money to that money grubbing owner again. Called in to make a same day appointment after work on a weekday, she accommodated me. It's located right across the street from Gogi Time. Juni greeted me with such a bright and warm friendliness. As for the haircut, based on my hair type and face/head shape I told her to do what she thinks would complement me the most...and she went at it. She gave me a cute a-line bob, took her time, and styled it carefully! My test for haircuts is how many compliments I receive from the husband, coworkers, and friends...all loved it and said it looked nice. And all for $45 for a salon cut.
