I moved to Oakland relatively recently and really wanted to find a solid go to stylist and I'm VERY happy with BIBO. I have had two haircut haircuts there - the first one by Georgina and the second with Itzel - and I can honestly say that these are two of the best haircuts I've ever had. I am very particular about what I want my hair to look like and how I want it to lay, and both of them were so understanding of my pickiness, both wonderful listeners and very skilled at their artistry. Loved this appointment! This salon is located near my old apartment and is very nice! The salon is very neat, well lit, stocked with lots of products. This was my first appointment here and I was with the Hair Stylist Danielle. The appointment was long but I loved the amount of care and effort she put into cutting my hair. I wasn't rushed or anything! I had the sudden urge to cut off all my hair into a bob after seeing my current hair in a picture of me in the sun... My hair was BAD .. I could see the color difference between my natural hair growing out and the old bleached hair that I dyed a chocolate brown. I was panicked when I saw this in my picture... It was literally looking at two separate people's hair. YIKES.. Danielle saved the day! I usually have a tough time finding a good stylist but I'm glad I trusted Danielle with this transition from long to short hair. I've been here a few times and the stylists are great, but they double booked me and because I was in a meeting all afternoon and rushed from work to make it on time, I didn't see that they cancelled my appointment until I was a block away from the salon. I get that mistakes happen sometimes and they did try to notify me, but they didn't apologize which was annoying, especially since their haircuts are pretty expensive. I came in with a bad root job and a funky haircut, and Danielle absolutely saved the day! She asked thoughtful questions about how I ended up in this hair predicament and what I wanted to achieve, then went to work with real skill and care. I've had my hair dyed hundreds of times, and I can honestly say her technique is one of the best I've ever experienced. She really worked the color in to cover every last silver and took extra care cleaning up any dye around my hairline and ears. The wash, condition, and rinse were beyond relaxing, and when it came time to cut, she checked in as she went to make sure I was happy every step of the way. The very first time I went to BIBO was 2023. I was desperate for a haircut before my wedding and BIBO was recommended to me by a friend. The hairstylist for that appointment constantly complained about how long and thick my hair is and then proceeded to surprise me with an extra charge for the inconvenience of having to deal with it. I was humiliated and disheartened. Because BIBO is the closest salon to me, I decided to give it another shot a few months later. That's when I met Itzel. I've never had someone take such good care of my hair before. She offered me multiple options to make my thick hair work best for me, including weight reduction -- which I had never heard of! Because of her, I've been able to enjoy my hair long without frustration for the last couple years. She has been such a blessing to my life. Danielle gave me snarky remarks, put down the state of my hair, and made me feel like I wasn't able to buy their salon products. The cut was decent. With a look of disdain, she randomly added TWENTY DOLLARS to untangle my hair that wasnt that bad! It tangles when washed. She wouldn't let me brush my hair until I pushed to do one half, and I got it done quick and easy. Same vibe about some flakes I had. Maybe she had a bad day or she has some against beau7long hair that isn't thin and bleach damaged as hers. I gave her an extra tip since she seemed to be hurtin. First of all I have to say, what a great experience thanks to Georgina as my stylist and thank you to Susie the owner for her spa with quality products and great customer service over the phone. I was referred to their salon by word of mouth and also visually seeing the result post BIBO cut/style, and I just had to check it out. I booked a last minute appointment online (super easy) it referred me to Georgina as I was looking for a curly cut. Driving up was a nightmare and knew I was cutting it close and I called the salon to let them know I was on my way. Susie answer and was helpful and kind. Upon arrival Georgina greeted me and asked me several questions to meet my goals, but the best part is that she listened to my needs to achieve them. They have a variety of drink items during your session. I was comfortable, happy and overall a satisfied customer that WILL return thanks to Georgina at BIBO! And my curls thank you too! The stylist are great. However, the host needs some serious training. Zero customer service skills. It's so important to confirm the services with the customer when they checkin and before they checkout. I just had such a bizarre interaction with the front desk person. She told me my total, and mentioned the obligatory gratuity (bad business choice, imo). I asked to add more gratuity. She then walked over to the stylist that provided my service, came back and told me a new higher total. Zero explanation. It was as if I was a new customer she was having a different interaction with. I'm at a loss. She didn't ask if I'd like to book again, she didn't offer my receipt. She just awkwardly looked at me until I asked if I would receive my receipt via email. After treating myself to some self care in the form of a hair appointment, it's so disappointing to end on such a sour note. As a business owner, you should know that that interactions are crucial, and hire and train staff accordingly. I would think twice before booking again. read more

I was looking for a new place to get my haircut- the place that I used to go to botched up my hair and I was not happy with it. I waited more than a month to grow it out a little bit before I started to look at another places, and I found BIBO by chance by just looking at the reviews. I booked with Danielle online, and it was super easy. Parking can be a challenge, but I was able to find street parking close by. When entering the salon, the place was super clean, they had music going, and I was greeted by stylists. The host came and checked me in, and offered me some beverages but I decided to opt for water. I arrived about 15 minutes for my appointment, and when it was my turn, Danielle took me in and I explained to her about my hair concerns and showed her some of the parts of my hair that I was just not happy about. She listened attentively, and explained to me that she is going to try her best to even out the layers in my hair but was also realistic saying that it would take a couple of months of my hair to grow until I get the desired length. I expected that it would take time for it to grow, but I was also appreciative of the fact that that she thoroughly explained everything. She then shampooed and conditioned my hair, and when it was time to get back to the chair, she was thorough and paid great attention to detail about areas that needed to be cut and blended more. When she was cutting my curtain bangs, she checked in with me if it was the desired length and would not cut until I was happy with the face framing pieces. Once we were done, Danielle blow dried my hair and gave it a nice blowout. It's been SO long since I had felt confident with my hair, and I can't stop playing with it and looking at it in the mirror. Danielle is literally the sweetest person, pays great attention to detail, made sure that my concerns were heard and addressed them, and we also had great conversations. I have been going to BIBO Salon since I moved to the neighborhood 4 years ago and they have never let me down! I love how easy it is to make appointments and living a couple blocks away it is very convenient to go after I've made an appointment online. My latest haircut was done by Danielle (dorky, but I loved that we shared the same name!) and she did a great job. I had gone about 6-7 months since my previous haircut for a number of reasons and was in desperate need of cleaning up and styling my hair again. She did a wonderful job and even though I had to cut quite a bit off, the style is super cute and I love how great my hair feels again. read more

Where do I start? I have been curious about Bibo for so long and after my job changed and I couldn't get to my former salon I decided to put the cash into an Oakland salon (local love!) SUSIE TRANSFORMED MY HAIR. I've always preferred being a brighter blonde but my last stylist tended to make my color seem flat. It also made me look older than I am. Susie listened to me closely and gave me a few pics to reference for where she thought my color should go and we aligned. She's so damned talented. The end result was a fresh, healthy and shimmering blonde that perfectly compliments my complexion and my hair feels SO silky. I am thrilled!! I feel amazing and I am now a regular. Angel did wonders !!! First I came to her for a short cut and it was exactly the look I wanted. Minimal and chic :) obviously I wanted color but had to think it over and came back to her three weeks after. I had virgin hair since i grew out the last color . I told her I wanted subtle balayage and she mastered it! In the sun you can definitely see it but in natural light its subtle. Definitely gave life back to my hair !!! Its $$$ but worth it . I went to the BIBO website to find a stylist available at the time I needed, so I booked a haircut with Cheri. Cheri listened to me when I shared my objective; grow out my old highlights and cut/style my greying hair, repeat 6-8 weeks later because I want to embrace my grey, but still want an attractive style. Cheri was focused and locked in making certain my layers were even and an actual style present. Cheri was kind, but didn't make unnecessary banter and I liked that. I came to Bibo and Danielle in a hair emergency - had gone blond the week before and it was really bad... I was desperate for someone to shepherd me and my hair back to feeling and looking good. Danielle made time for me as soon as she could, gave me tips to care for my fried hair, fixed the look and Danielle and the owner reassured me, making me feel like I was in good hands. 7 months later and my hair is looking great and Danielle helped me figure out style and cut that I think is my favorite ever. ALEX GLANN BLOCKED ME ON INSTAGRAM AFTER I ASKED HIM TO REMOVE HIS VIDEOS OF ME. HIS FORCED AWKWARD VIDEOS. He left me with so much breakage. He was also bad at styling my curly hair. He was so aggressive and caused a lot of breakage on the dry and brittle bleached hair. It feels chalky now. After a stylist (Alex Glann) refused to listen to what I want, he gave me what he decided would be "chic" for my hair. I ended up with a balayage that had no color around my face, when what I had asked for was face-framing highlights. Then, he took a bunch of pictures and videos so that he could add them to his instagram. THEN, When the salon owner (Susie) asked him to add more brightness around my face, he absolutely BUTCHERED the front half of my head and left it bright yellow. I would like to add that the balayage Alex gave me was pretty, but it was not what I had come in for. Alex has some beautiful looks on his Instagram, so I'm not sure why he gave me choppy yellow hair. My natural curls are also completely destroyed and straight, and I had been working to restore them for the last two years. I am absolutely destroyed I started bawling and freaking out and explaining that I wanted to call my mom and cry. Susie knew I was unhappy with this and she stayed hours after closing to fix my hair and make sure I left feeling good. Susie is literally a miracle worker! She would not let me leave until my hair looked good, and she literally put in extra hours to make me feel good. My hair is completely fried, but this is not Susie's fault. Susie handled this situation so professionally and so nicely. She is truly an artist! Susie is an expert colorist who can correct any color mistake. Just look at my hair before and after she color-corrected it! Unfortunately, my curl pattern is completely destroyed, and I had been working to restore my natural curls for the last two years. My favorite hair salon! I first started going to BIBO Salon when I lived in Oakland. I now live in LA, but still go to BIBO when I'm in town for work. I just got my haircut a couple weeks ago, and love how healthy it feels. This salon has a great price for the quality. I get my haircut from a Level 1 Stylist for only $85 plus tip. The entire staff is friendly. They greet you with water or tea at check-in. Parking is scarce, so I recommend walking or public transit. The salon is located on Broadway, close to many amazing restaurants. Consider getting your hair done before your next date or night out with friends. read more

Skylar is a razor magician! I waited for my second appointment to write the review (just in case).... I could not be happier! I have thick curly coarse hair and a lot of it! I usually wear it chin length, because once it gets too long, it looks unkempt and has too much volume. Sky knows how to cut my hair, she gets rid of so much weight and leaves my hair light and long and bouncy and beautiful. Heed my warning now: I went here and had a horrendous experience due to having a random stylist. In the intake form I checked that I have anxiety in the preference sheet because I hadn't had a haircut in a long time and I have autism so I hate people touching me. The woman cutting my hair immediately asked about my bangs and hair color (in a condescending manner). I let her know that during the pandemic I had cut my own bangs and my roommate colored my hair with box dye. The stylist started laughing and mocking me for being "my own stylist". What else could you do during a global pandemic????? I was so upset I was about to cry. She finished my wash and haircut in 20 minutes which she didn't execute to my liking (my dramatic bangs and straight hair made my head look phallic). I paid the mandatory 20% gratuity which brought my total to $120 and went to my car to sob quietly. Do not come here unless your friend or long time hair stylist works here and will do right by you. read more

Unfortunately, I had a horrible service with Angel. She had a bad & sour attitude, was rude to me, and did a poor highlight job on my hair. She made me feel very uncomfortable, and I felt like each time I asked a question or tried to request a way for my service, she snapped at me. Angel also gave me false pricing information, resulting in an overcharge. $200 later, I felt like my hair looked so bad that I was going to need to go to another salon to have it repaired. After this experience, I tried to speak with a manager, and after repeated attempts on my end, there was a significant time lapse before anyone gave me the proper contact info. Generally, I've been to Bibo a few times and service has not been great here, and I don't feel the pricing equates to the quality of service. It has been disappointing. read more
