So I had a flat tire and called a few local shops to see if I could get an appointment. They all said either that they didn't repair tires or were completely booked. I decided to drive to Jung's and there was one fellow working alone in the garage. I asked if he could plug the leak if I left the wheel with him. He looked at it and said he could fix it for me while I waited which he did. Price was less than half of what my Honda dealership wanted. I will definitely use the shop again! read more

I have not been to Mr. Jung recently but he was my mechanic when we lived in Hyattsville. I found him to be skilled, reasonable, and honest, and he got my car up and running after the spark plugs fried and took the car's motherboard with them. He even had my car re-keyed. I would recommend him. Just keep in mind he's open on Sundays but not Saturdays. read more

I called for same day service for an oil change, and I did not mention that I had a bad tire sensor when I called. I arrived and Mr. Jung immediately started looking at my car. I then told him that I had a bad tire sensor. He quoted the price to fix/replace the tire sensor and it was exactly the price I was told I may have to pay at the tire shop. He also changed the air filter, after showing it to me. The oil change and air filter replacement cost me no more than at the standard oil change shops. He also advised me on how to keep my car running well to avoid more costly repairs. I would highly recommend them. I will continue to have them service my car, as needed. read more

Before today, we always had a choice where to take our car; but today was Sunday, and when a rotor and pad rusted completely off while we were driving, we turned to Yelp. My wife called Jung's, which amazingly is open until 3:00, and even though we did not have an appointment, they fit us in soon after we arrived; ordered the parts; and efficiently completed the repairs at a very reasonable price. I've been here a few times since last year and so far no complaints. Quick service at low prices + quality work. Jung/the workers are skilled and a Chevrolet dealership gave their seal of approval upon seeing the work done on my Paul. While Jung is not a bubbly guy, he's kind in his own way and I don't feel cheated. Clearly these couple of negatives are no deal breaker but there isn't much of a waiting area (two chairs in his small office but now they're in the small garage) and no loaner cars (at least not to my knowledge) are available. This guy is great! I had been browsing mechanics in the area for different services and they all would inform me that I had a plastic flap loose on the bottom and offer to fix it for a fee. I did have every intention of fixing so I refused each time but it wasn't a real issue so I would forget to actually do it. Jung simply fixed it while doing the service I paid for and let me know! The mechanic is alright when it comes to repairs less than $1000. I put in more than $5,000 for a major job, and I was clearly unsatisfied. The shop owner did not seem interested in acknowledging that his work not only did not address the problem I hired him to solve but seemed indifferent. You never say never, but you never trust a mechanic who prefers money over reputation. I would go to the worst mechanic in town before I go back to this shop. We dropped my Boyfriend's car off here on a Sunday because no other shop was open. He was having issues with his windshield wipes, a computer glitch. Mr. Jung said he could look at it that day. The shop closed by 3 pm so we thought we'd have an answer by then. 2 pm hit, then 3 pm then 4 pm but Mr. Jung still had not even taken a look at the car. We ended up picking the car up on Monday at taking it to our regular Mechanic McFadden's in Laurel, MD. Just be honest, if you can't look at something or are too busy just let a customer know. Just found this place was blocks from me and well regarded by Yelpers. I knew the brakes were in bad shape, though Steve Jung said only the rear needed immediate service -- $135 for new pads and checking all the brakes, which seems a good price, and $60 for an oil change with synthetic oil, which I think is typical ($40 for regular oil). Work was quick. Place seems informal as Steve Jung himself is the front desk (which is actually in the back anyway), but most of the shops I've liked were just like this. This is my only experience so far, so I may have more to add later when we bring him my wife's car, which is at the age that it has all kinds of mysterious problems that other mechanics have been unable to resolve. read more

Got an Oil Change here in the Summer. 5W-30 Oil. When it was finished, I checked my dipstick, the Oil seemed to be not the best textured quality, unlike other oil changes I have gotten. im not even sure what oil they used for the oil change Long story short: Did the job, car had new oil (I believe cheap quality though), and correct me if im wrong but I was not told what brand of oil was put into my car. Oil must've been so cheap all as all of it already burned out (No oil on the dipstick 3-4 months later), though I do have a car that burns oil relatively quicker than others, it never burns out this fast. Giving an "A-OK" 3 star review since the job was done, and my car ran as good as it did before, yet im in belief the oil was cheap and I was not told which brand of oil was put in the car. read more

As a female, I am always skeptical going to a mechanic because I have been taken advantage of at other auto shops (mechanics trying to make me think I need to replace an spend more than what is needed). I found Jung's from Yelp and since my vehicle would not run and I was desperate, I took it there. Jung's is not open on Saturday but they do have a convenient drop-off service at their shop. I called Friday evening and told them I was going to have the vehicle dropped off, and it was no problem to do so. Within 3 hours of opening on Sunday, I received a call from the shop with a diagnosis of what was wrong. My vehicle is 10+ years old, and I was waiting for him to tell me I would need brand new this and that and a whole revamping that would cost $1,000 or more. He did not do that at all. He told me the problems, what he needed to do to fix them, and provided me with an estimate that was well under $500. No fancy items or replacing things that did not need to be replaced yet. The vehicle was ready the following day, and Mr. Jung walked me to my vehicle, showed me the things he replaced, explained why he replaced them, and told me things I should look out for in regards to things wearing out. He did not push a 3,000 mile oil change, new shocks, new tires, nothing. He was pleasant and respectful and did not condescend to me or try to push any product on me. I checked with a knowledgeable family member who is a mechanic, and he confirmed the work as well as the pricing. An oil change cost me $30, and a vehicle tuneup cost me $30 more than a good price in my mechanic relative's state of Georgia. As this is the DC area and prices are usually higher than other places, I was impressed. Overall, I was very pleased with the customer service, the work, the pricing, and the whole experience. I did not feel taken advantage of and really appreciated Mr. Jung walking me through what exactly he did and why he did it. I recommend this place for someone who wants a no-frills, straightforward experience. I plan to continue to use this shop for my future vehicle needs. read more

When I made the cross-country drive from sunny CA to DC, I had a few concerns on my mind: the weather, the food, the people, and my car. I can't change the weather (or make a beach out here in DC), the food is just different and takes some getting used to, the people are great, but my car needed some work. I used to have a family friend mechanic who took care of everything, was unmatched in pricing, and knew what I needed and didn't try to rip me off by explaining how my engine needed to be replaced because some fairy dust got in there. I figured that I would have to settle for some random corner shop out here that wouldn't come close to what I was used to. Boy, was I wrong. Through a reference from a local, I was directed to this shop. I figured it was some random shop with one guy who would take a day or two to replace my breaks and do an oil change, so I was prepared for the worst as I made the trip over. The shop was a little hard to find (it's behind a yellow building off of Baltimore Ave), but as soon as I pulled up, I realized that this was going to be a great experience. The place felt like it was out of an old movie, with a number of people, car parts everywhere, the hum of machinery, and a friendly owner. I walked into the office where a small TV had some show going, and I asked for an estimate on the work that I needed. After a quick inspection and test drive around the parking lot, he knew exactly what needed to be done, and he had my car pulled into the garage right away. I watched as two men went right to work, smoothing out the rotor, replacing the pads and changing the oil. The job was done relatively quickly, and the price was cheap. After a year in the DMV, I can finally say that it feels like home. read more

Heard some noises while driving, instantly pulled over located nearest shop mr. Jung place popped up. Came in told him and other mechanic who was also cool what was problem lifted my vehicle told what issues where instantly. Tried to find part but couldn't so he had to put me off a day left my vehicle. But 3 o'clock next day received phone call you can come pick up car. Long story short: I paid a lot of money just to wait two weeks while they failed to fix my car, returned it filthy inside, and with pieces missing and/or broken. Never, ever again. I don't understand how my experience went so badly after I saw the solid 5-star status for this shop on Yelp. I took my 1988 BMW 325i (an oldie but goodie) here to get a few things done. I needed a battery drain problem sorted out, a small coolant leak fixed, one exhaust hanger replaced, and a muffler. Two weeks later, I begged them to just get my car back to me. They assured me that the battery drain was resolved, and that some old coolant hoses were replaced. However, the parts for the muffler hanger would not be in for a while. After two weeks there was no excuse. When I came to pick up the car, the new coolant hoses were in place, and the battery was charged and ready to go. However, the interior of the car was really grimy all over the steering wheel, carpets, and every surface they touched. They obviously didn't use gloves or plastic protectors. I keep my car immaculate inside and this was a shock. Then, imagine my surprise when I notice a full piece of the dash trim *missing*. Fortunately I found it kicking around the inside. Then, the big one: the fan speed knob was flat out broken. They had driven a big sheet metal screw (totally inappropriate for the purpose) into the dashboard and into the fan speed control to the point where the it wouldn't turn, and the knob just popped off when I touched it. On top of it all, the electrical problem was not in fact resolved, and my car kept dying. When I had the battery tested it was determined to be bad (though this could be from going dead so many times). I am not about to bring my car back to get these things "fixed", considering how badly it turned out the first time. read more

After blindly trusting a nationwide chain for 3 years, I got majorly screwed by them. Not only did they botch-up a job, but actually lied to me saying they tried to repair it. A simple belt change and AC refill left my car screeching wildly whenever I started my car. After multiple visits, they couldn't figure out the problem. Mr. Jung's Auto Service came to my rescue. They figured the problem (which was actually a wrong installation of the belt). Also fixed my car AC and the car was ready to go in a day ! The service was extremely fast and very affordable. The mechanics are very friendly and quick. I have visited this place more than once now and I intend to make it my regular stop for oil changes and any work on my car. read more

This is a relatively small, owner-operated shop located just off Route 1 in College Park. I've been here twice now, and both times Mr. Jung and his employees were friendly and honest. They will get you in and out in a timely fashion and they are (at least in my experience) true to their estimates. Excellent speedy service for a reasonable price. I paid 1/3 less by coming here. Nothing fancy, just a very basic shop, but who needs fluff when you are looking for automotive repair? I have gone to Jung's twice now: one time to replace a tire + alignment and another time for a temperature gauge valve replacement. After reading all the reviews in the CP area, I decided on Jung's and was not disappointed. I read other reviews here and decided to try Jungs out. Experience was great. Fair price for parts and labor I think, but more important is that he knows what he's doing. I have an older model Nissan that had the radiator repaired badly last year that led to my having to replace it again here as well as thermostat and hoses above and below that were leaking, and the car drives very well now. He also resolved another issue I had, and explained why it was happening. All in all a good guy, and he had me in an out next day from my first call. read more

Initially, I went to a local Subaru dealership for a simple oil change. They came out and told me that with the repairs "necessary", I would end up paying $2000. Um, what?! It's a 2008 Impreza...no way in hell it would need repairs that detrimental already! So I said thanks and went out my merry way. I got the # for Jung's from a friend who said Steve Jung gave him a fair deal and price. Being a woman, I'm used to getting dicked over by auto repair shops, so of course I had my doubts. I told Mr. Jung exactly what the other place said and how much they stated it would cost. He took it for a quick spin and was able to diagnose immediately what he said was wrong with my car. I left my car overnight and it was ready to go the next day. It needed a simple tightening of the ball and socket on both sides, along with a few other things (I honestly can't list all of the repairs that he did). He did give me an itemized list and the repairs ended up costing around $800. Still a lot of money but much nicer than the original $2000. I feel I got a good, honest estimate from Steve Jung. Considering I went into the situation telling him what was wrong, he could have lied and told me he thought the same thing about what was wrong...instead, he was able to save me money and ensure my car was ready for the 1100 mile road trip I will be taking in a month. The shop is somewhat hard to find...look for a big yellow sign that leads you down an alley esque lot. When you drive down a steep hill, you'll see a lot full of cars. The two times I visited, the turn over rate on the cars were high; the cars I saw on Sunday weren't the same cars on Monday, meaning he'll get the job done efficiently. read more
