The artist who did all the murals did a phenomenal job! Putting on the 3D glasses really threw me off! Some of the holes are tricky, deceiving so scope it out first before thinking you know where the hole is. While this location isn't huge, they have a party room with 3 - 4 good sized tables and one restroom. The music that was playing was spot on which added to the fun! While they made good use of the space the first couple holes it gets rather tight or congested easily. We had 6 people in our group and it started to get a bit backed up. I can only imagine when it gets busy. There was actually a group of 2 teenagers or young adults that we let them play ahead of us because it would have been excruciatingly painful for them to wait for us. I didn't realize until the end that on the score card that they had a little scavenger hunt to look for certain items while you play. The parking lot is small. I definitely would recommend this location but if you have large groups or if it gets busy it can get tight in there. For those interested, they do sell little neon doo-dads at the check in counter.

We didn't do a cake or opening gifts, but there was a small table available in the foyer, with two benches, if someone wanted to go that route. The bathroom was clean and the play area was also clean, with plenty of activities and toys to keep those on the spectrum entertained and engaged. I recommend it for younger children. Luckily, my bro had heard about splash parks in different states, and he found Portsmouth Splash Park (PSP) here in Hampton Roads. PSP is located on Elm and South in Portsmouth, and we decided to check it out. When we first drove by, we noticed there was no one around--no water running, no kids playing. I wondered if the place was closed, but then I saw two adults sitting on chairs. They were indeed open and we had the whole place to ourselves. The best part is it's free! When PSP opened 3 years ago, they charged $2 per person--which is still a bargain. It seemed that the turnout was low so they decided to do away with the fee. When you get to the desk, you will need to sign up and listen to the rules. Rule number one: no running! PSP has 15 interactive apparatus: giraffe, frog, dragon, crayon, flowers, pails, cattails, anchor and water blasters--fun and colorful. If you're planning to watch the kids instead of playing, there is no shade and no chairs, but there is a restroom. You are not allowed to bring in personal chairs and no food or drink (except water bottles--no glass please). PSP is clean, and a wonderful way to spend an hour or so during a hot summer day. Unfortunately, they are closed for the summer now--but bookmark this place for next year!

Parking is by off street meter or pay garage. Chairs, tables and umbrellas are provided during events. Throughout the week the park is often used for those working in downtown Norfolk to enjoy a lunch. My biggest issue is debris. Trash cans are provided nearby. Nothing spectacular about this location other than it is more private and they do hold events for holidays. You can also have birthday parties here. This year we attended the free Christmas event they had which was awesome! Free bowling for adults & children, free pictures with Santa & Mrs Claus (they provided two copies per family), free popcorn, free breakfast & drinks (waffles, eggs, potatoes, apple juice), free face painting, character balloons, prizes, gifts & kids could also paint their own bird houses. My toddler was ecstatic and had so much fun! We will definitely attend next year. All the staff was so nice. The MWR ticket & travel office is also located inside this bowling alley where you can find pamphlets on all of the nearby attractions and discounted rates.
