I've read the reviews posted here AFTER I visited the Zoo Experience. I can understand the main concern, the poor Baboon in the cage. I agree that he appears to be upset, mean, annoyed and taunted. I know the staff were watching carefully to keep the unruly people from causing him any more grief. We did find his favorite thing was grapes, he took time out from ranting and raving to enjoy those treats. Overall I found the Zoo clean and fun to walk around. There is a large selection of animals to enjoy, some are running around loose with the people, some in small enclosures. All enclosures well kept clean by the staff. At one time the hog got its tusk stuck in the fence and within minutes the staff were there to get him loose again. One girl I spoke to said that her job was to walk around cleaning up the ground where all the missed animal treats were dropped. She said that she enjoyed working for the family that owns it. I found the Zoo Experience to be very interesting considering the amount of animals on display. The prices are very reasonable for admission and the treats that can be purchased for the animals.

Great local treasure! Small family owned Zoo, totally impressed with the work and love they put into running this place! Thanks!

We loved all the animals. It's great that they sell different kinds of food for a dollar and you can walk around feeding the animals too. It was disconcerting that so many people were not wearing masks because the place is small and it's impossible to be 6 feet when busy. We were able to visit different animals and only stand by people who wore masks. None of the employees were wearing masks either, so it may be the culture of the area. It is an outdoor zoo, so that would make people feel safer. However one man was sneezing over and over again. He did not cover his mouth and he was not wearing a mask!

Great experience, and fun for the whole family! A small little spot to spend a few hours really interacting with all the animals, not just looking at them from a far like most zoo's. We loved all of the employees, the young girl at the front desk was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The young man ( they mentioned they were siblings) was also equally friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. We loved how some of the animals roamed free, it was so exciting, and feeding them was great too! I definitely recommend this place for anyone in the area. If we lived closer we would visit often! The kids didn't want to leave!

I can not give this place more than two stars... although the owner and staff were very nice... and it's fun to feed animals.... the part that makes me sad is Rooney the baboon ... he is in such a small enclosure and didn't even have a place to go away from all the people.. people were taunting him despite the sign that said not to. I truly hope they get him a better enclosure. He was freaking out a bunch. Staff just kept saying all the animals were being "naughty"... I don't understand how that animal can be kept in such a small boring enclosure. I wanted to like this place and was hoping to tell everyone I knew with kids or without that it was worth the trip but a day later I can't help and feel sad for him.

    Nice tortious

One of my favorite places for a yearly fall family tradition! Apple season means apple picking,…read moreapple cider donuts, hard cider & fun for the entire gang. Feeding & visiting the goats is always a hit for the kids. Depending on when you go, you can sometimes expect a bounce house, pony rides, food vendors, live music etc. The donut line can get absurdly long but it's never too long of a wait for those local-favorite cider donuts! The donuts are always fresh & warm & otherworldly delicious. The barn also offers many local treats, apple cider, fresh eggs & veggies, fudge, honey, handmade products & so much more. Look up to see the train hanging from the ceiling! Slyboro Ciderhouse is usually serving hard cider, beer on tap, cocktails etc.

SERVICE-DOG DISCRIMINATION…read more I arrived with my trained service dog. Don, the parking attendant, told me my service dog could not leave my vehicle, claiming federal food-safety laws prohibited it. I explained that my dog is a service animal and that the ADA specifically addresses this issue that service dogs are exempt. I was directed to management. I spoke with Kim, the Cider House manager, and directed her to the U.S. Department of Justice ADA website, including the information explaining that food-safety rules do not provide a blanket exception to exclude service animals. They were given the federal guidance. They chose to ignore it. She contacted the owner. The owner's "solution" was that I could drive my car into the orchard..but my service dog had to remain inside the car not with me My service dog is necessary to mitigate my disability. A service dog locked inside a vehicle cannot perform those disability-related functions for me while I am outside the vehicle. That is not equal access. I told them directly that I believed I was being discriminated against. I told them I had three witnesses and that I would be filing a federal discrimination complaint. Their response? They were comfortable with that .....and believed they had done nothing wrong. What happened was humiliating and deeply upsetting. I went to Hicks Orchard expecting to participate like everyone else. Instead, I was singled out because of my disability and told that the service animal I rely on could not accompany me. A service animal sitting in a car cannot mitigate a disability. Equal access means being able to use the service animal I rely on...not being told I am not allowed to use assistance to mitigate my disability. We have been a team for over 6 years and travel alot internationally. We are well versed in these experiences and try to politely educate others. When we encounter people who aren't fully aware of service dog access rights, we are typically met with understanding once we show them ADA laws. Hicks refused to even consider they may misunderstand federal laws. I hope they will become more educated on ADA public access rights for service dogs to avoid excluding those with disabilities and the impact it has on their life's. We unfortunately left and will not return. our family has been visiting Hicks for years as a family tradition. our family and service dog was welcomed with open arms down the road at McWhorter's Orchard and had a great time there instead. we will continue our family tradition there moving forward.

The alpacas and all the other animals (peacocks, turkeys, doggos) are all loved and well taken care of. Elaine is kind, patient and interested in the folks that visit her. You could sit and talk for hours! Duchess, the beautiful white lady of the farm is a working dog and still sleeps inside with her family at night. Only recommendation I would make is maybe a sink available to wash your hands. We didnt really get dirty but It's a farm, after all!

I'd been wanting to see alpacas in person for a really long time . I'd been hearing beautiful…read morethings about them. I am so glad to get the experience of meeting lots of these beautiful animals in these farm. Woodland meadow farm is a working farm. The owners breed alpacas for business. They started with only 3 alpacas and now after 11 years of operation, they have 73 total of different mixed breeds. It is a huge farm that can accommodate all the animals daily activities. Alpacas are adorable, charming and friendly. As per understanding, alpacas are raised basically for their luxurious and expensive fibers. It is being sell per pound to turn into hats, scarves, blankets , sweaters etc. If at once you received an item made of alpacas fiber, it is said to be a precious possession that lasts years time. They are scheduled to be sheered once a year. During our visit, the owner let me dip my finger how much deep one alpaca fiber has , about 4 inches deep. Cool! We witnessed the love of the owners to these creatures , an inspiration to reckon with. Being said , who knows, I maybe farming these wonderful creatures in the future or may get one as pet. We learned a lot about alpacas from the owners during this visit. The farm is worth visiting if you have the love for these animals. Come visit the farm and get to experience a unique enchantment.
