It seems self-service"-ish" laundry services are hard to come by in the U.K.? Not sure, but it seems the case.
Thankfully, after a week on the road in Northern Wales with lots of hiking and some SUPER stinky clothes later, I was in desperate need of doing a load of wash...and Junction stepped in to help!
At first, I was very uncomfortable trying to figure out how it all worked, and the attendant seemed annoyed at my presence (another ass-wipe American, right?) Of note: the business is a full-service laundry establishment, so there are people actually working there (in what appears to be a laundromat in the U.S.)
So, as I stood there in shorts (going commando), flip-flops and a t-shirt (I was trying to get everything I had with me clean), a woman named Sue finally stepped up to help.
Coins? Apparently, the U.K. minted new coins that don't fit in old coin slots (parking meters are the same story...) so Sue generously changed out my NEW coins for old and explained retrofitting the machines to accept the NEW coins would cost like $200 (pounds).
Anyhow, Sue and I got to talking and she was really kind. As for my laundry, it got clean and I was in/out in about an hour.
I bought soap from Sue, exchanged new coins for old and talked about Wales...it turned out to be a fun laundromat experience.
