Very nice breakfast at Jumbo's... opted for "the fill" and it lived up to its name, I was stuffed! Two eggs, choice of meat, home fries and two French toast or pancakes. This place has new owners and has gone downhill so badly. The food quality is poor. The service is so slow. And the place is not clean. The bathrooms were dirty. And they told someone that they had to charge for a box if you want to take your leftovers home! Not a place I'd go back to! read more

My family and I went in this morning and it wasn't very busy. We sat there for an hour without drinks, and the waitress that took our orders asked me to write down what we wanted. we left as in that an hour, we saw 5 other people leave and the one waitress couldn't figure out whose food went where. The food orders weren't right that were coming out and it seemed to be very unorganized. Very disappointed and really couldn't believe what we saw. We would never go back to this place. I will also advise anyone who is wanting to try it to pass. The waitress with dark hair and glasses was belittling the younger waitress often and not taking accountability for anything. Like I said, we are a family of 6 and we sat there for an hour waiting and observing. We left as we were very disappointed. Plus they weren't busy! That's the worst part. read more

This is a recently renovated and updated Jumbo's. Nicely decorated and food was great. Hubby had a burger and fries and I had an original Jumbo's breakfast combo. Pancake, 2eggs,home fries and bacon. Coffee was fresh and good. Portions and prices were good too. read more

The inside is beautifully decorated - clean and spacious. Service is very friendly and prompt, and a great flow of coffee. The food is fantastic, a great range of options (for the picky eaters) well seasoned and professionally prepared. I have eaten there twice and will be returning soon! My wife and I went in for breakfast and the place was extremely clean (incl the restrooms) and the service and the food was amazing, My wife had the cinnamon roll french toast and it was so good!! This was our first experience at Jumbo's. They were opened on Memorial Day when everyone else, but fast food places, were closed. We were cold and wet and needed a warm meal. We ordered their "Fratata" which was really just scrambled eggs with the meat or meats of choice and veggies. It also came with toast, however they were out of our favorites. The food was good and was amounts comparable for the price. Our food came in a timely manner and was hot! But we were never offered a refill on our coffee. The ONLY reason we drove out of our way one random Saturday morning to come here, was because of such good Yelp reviews. The interior was dirty looking, horribly decorated, and just plain weird feeling...not even in a cute, kitschy diner sort of way, either. It was a Saturday morning, but the place wasn't too busy. I'd say probably 8 other tables were full. We waited for almost an hour & a half to get our food. I am not exaggerating. Our waitress only came once in that 1.5 hour time span to refill our drinks, but offered no explanation as to why it was taking so long, and certainly no apologies. I am a really easy person to please. If she had just said, "Sorry it's taking so long!" I would be completely placated. I am pretty sure she either left work, or the kitchen forgot our order, because we had to flag down another waitress to inquire about our food. She went back to the kitchen and brought it out within 5 minutes. I was really hoping the food was going to be terrible so I could just blast this place. But alas...it was really, really good. I got an omelet which was huge & fresh-tasting and their buttered toast was literally one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. I am so mad it was so good. Found Jumbo' s while traveling through Gouverneur. I love home cooked food and this didn't disappoint! Walked in @ 9:30 on a Saturday morning & found it to be busy. Lots of large groups of people & regulars. Waitresses were always on the go, efficient and friendly. Coffee was good--only $.95--and our cups were refilled several times. We shared a huge, grilled cinnamon roll that came with a bottle of icing. Entrees were great, white bread was homemade. Definitely worth the stop! read more

I went here with my boyfriend after we left his grandparents house from a weekend visit. A local from the Time Out bar told us about it. We were pretty happy with our food. Everything was very reasonable. I got two eggs, toast and sausage. The toast was homemade and really good. My eggs were over cooked a bit, but everything was still good. My boyfriend got the fritata and he liked it a lot. I would recommend this place to someone. The service was good and everything was cheap and we left full! read more

We liked visiting the town where the life saver was invented. Jumbo's Diner was perfect corner place to come right on in to get your day started with breakfast. Perfect diner with classic history all over it. They told us that they are trying hard to get the place historical so they could remodel the place. I hope it does get a piece of history only because the address is actually Number 1 and on Main street. It use to be a Pharmaceutical place or drug store. The history is seen with the locals that come in and when I got my breakfast they served home made bread that was sliced and toasted. Ahhhhhh so good! Way better than any loaf made in the store! My omelet was loaded with veggies and mozzarella cheese. Just the way I do like it. Coffee was topped off as many times as I wanted. Friendly atmosphere and perfect for simple coffee and pie is what I see and was told. Fresh pies made right there and served. Guess you will have to come on in and grab a spot and check it out. We go to Jumbo's every morning for coffee to meet up with relatives when visiting in the area. It's nostalgic, has been in business here since I can remember. Great location, right on main street, across from the river. I like to stroll down mainstreet or across the town square after breakfast. I had eggs, toast and tea, everything was fine. Not gourmet, but that's not why you go here. Go for the history of the place. read more
