C8. Roast Pork Egg Foo Young Combo Platter

Egg Roll,, ( meh) dry-- General Tsao 's Chicken,Lunch special, Pork Fried Rice, rp egg foo young.... Chicken chow mein.....my Gen Tsao's combo platter was just the right heat.. n not dripping in too much sauce, as some do... came with freshly mafe fried rice. This is a take out, so service and ambiance dont apply here. As you can see, ive eaten the rice on the Gen Tsao 's Chicken , had leftovers fot tomorrow 's lunch. Cant say the same flr test of family, they all devoured theirs. Im the final analysis, I would sau even though its not around the corner for us, , when Im in the Freehold area, this is my goto for Chinese takeout. Its not a sit-down place. There were a few tables pre- lockdown but those have gone the way of the aardvark.... It is purely a take out establishment. But dont let thst deter you, we ve not been disappointed.

Stopped in because the wife wanted spareribs. They were dry chewy and burnt. The fried rice was just OK. The beef chow fun was good.

Hole in the wall take out Chinese food. Still has all the Covid plastic barriers hanging from ceiling and walls. Food was well worth it.

Ok, so if you are going here for pretty ambiance or great service, you are in the wrong place…read more It's a good size, clean, but the booths have cracked seats and the tables have paper tablecloths. I was here on a Tuesday, so it was very slow, there was only one woman running the front of the house. But, they had some takeout orders going out every so often. That being said, the food is really yummy! I was here with my mom and we each had a hot and sour soup. It was fine, but when you add some of the side of black vinegar and picketed ginger... it was very tasty! We shared the dan dan noodles which were delicious! We also had the crab and pork soup dumplings which were hot and tasty. Finally, we split the stir fries beef filet with scallions and miso which was great! The beef was really tender and the s asinine was spot on. This is a great place to come when you want good food with no frills.

The restaurant is big, with one wall donning a mural of white flowers and the opposite wall holding decorative windows and decorations. The special drinks station can be seen near the front, a little bok choy statue propped up on the counter. A flat screen TV can also be seen mounted to one of the restaurant's dividers as well, with two others mounted on the back walls too. We ordered the following: S11- Wontons in Chili Oil- we didn't order this but it was a happy accident order. It turned out the server misheard us and ordered this instead of the dumplings. So, we said no problem and ordered the steamed dumplings, as well. We ended up liking the wontons. S12- Steamed dumplings 6 pieces- this was a slight disappointment in that the dumpling skin was the same as the wonton skin. I was expecting it to be a bit doughier and thick. Instead, it was thin. The dumpling was pretty good and spicy but I was expecting the wrap to be different. We got swayed when we saw it on their tv screen and was expecting it to be thicker. H17- spicy pot with lotus root, mushrooms, tripe, shrimp, ham, potatoes with sesame. There weren't any lotus roots in there. This was very spicy. Hubs liked it a lot and was happy that there were plenty of tripe for him to have. V1- mapo tofu with minced pork- this was pretty tasty and spicy F8- Typhoon Fish Fillet- I always wanted to try this style of fish, so the minute I saw it, I knew I had to get it. Hubs didn't realize that it was fried fish and we didn't know how it was prepared. It's fish fillets and heavily seasoned mixed with onions, shallots, salt and pepper, spicy pepper. According to him, it was heavenly seasoned. LOL. We let the server be aware of peanut allergy and she said that we could order anything we wanted and they won't add peanuts to it. Originally, we were going to go to another restaurant but that was closed for that day. Glad that place was closed and we came here! Service was quick and friendly. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu!

We took out a few dishes from the new ownership and were utterly disgusted with the quality. It's been a few more years. I am not sure if ownership changed again, but we decided to give it another chance. I didn't recognize the owner - not sure if it was because of the absence of mask. But first impression was she didn't care to be cordial or friendly, just doing the basic part as a wait staff. On the plus side, the chairs and tables have been upgraded from what I could remember. We ordered our usual dishes in order to gauge the current quality. 2 staple Sichuan dishes: Kung Pao Chicken ($14.95) and Shredded Beef with Hot Green Pepper ($17.95). We also added a noodle dish: Sauteed Noodle with Pork & Scallion ($11.95). Kung Pao Chicken was rendered differently - sweeter and not as dark but tasty none the less. The Shredded Beef was also slightly different, thicker and obviously tenderized with baking soda. It was good enough. The sauteed noodle was good but it's a generic dish so no authenticity to consider. A number of deviations from prior experience. The chicken and beef dishes each only 1 bowl of rice, instead of a big serving bowl for the table. We had to ask for one additional bowl of rice. Not sure if it was missed but we didn't get charged for it. The tea wasn't complimentary any more. $1.50 for the pot. Overall, we weren't disappointed because we came in with low expectation. We will be back again hoping to see that they can at least maintain the same consistency.

The restaurant is medium in size, with bright orange walls, framed art pieces adorning them, and booths lined up against them. Tables seating up to 4 people sit in a row in the middle as well. We were seated at a booth. We ordered the following: #717 - rice cake Shanghai style. This was the best item in my opinion. The rice cake was nice and chewy. #925 -braised whole fish with hot sichuan bean sauce. We were told that this will take 25 minutes to cook. Hubs liked it a lot. I thought it was ok but I felt that the fish was hard. #933 - short rib and bitter melon in black bean sauce. This was disappointing because the bitter melon was hard and barely cooked. There were only a couple pieces of the melon. It's also not short ribs and hubs was disappointed about that. It was actually spare ribs. They also put sweet potato noodles underneath the casserole to make it look like the entree was bountiful. Guess they're trying to save money. #S12 - Thai style hot and spicy basil chicken and shrimp. This was daughter's favorite dish. She thought the shrimp was nice and soft and the chicken was nicely cooked. There were lots of fruit flies and they were getting annoying because they were hanging by our table the entire night. Daughter figured out that they were attracted to the decorative carrots because it was marinated in vinegar. We moved it out of our way and it was ok after that, but we didn't realize it until we were midway through our dinner. The fruit flies were hanging on the wall by our booth. This is one of the reasons I don't like to sit at a booth. Flies and fruit flies are attracted to booths and don't move away. Note to self, do not sit in a booth if there are tables in the middle of the restaurant. We came here almost 10 years ago and liked it a lot. I've been wanting to come back here for a while. I was pretty disappointed this time. Don't think we'll be returning.

Because we dined in, we were charged 6-7 bucks MORE, per person, than we would have been charged if we had done take out.. Also, there were NO indications on the menu that this would be so. The broth is flavorful and the wontons are perfectly cooked and huge. Another thing I love about Wong's is that they're always generous with the extras. If you request extra duck sauce or noodles with your to-go order, they'll happily provide. I can't recommend the sesame chicken and lo mein enough. The portions are huge, perfect for family style. You can't go wrong with an order of their egg rolls - they're crispy and delicious. It seems like there aren't a ton of Chinese restaurants left in the area so it's reassuring to know that Wong's has been around for so long. It's a testament to the quality of their food and the loyalty of their customers. If you're looking for a great Chinese restaurant in Manalapan, I would definitely recommend giving Wong's a try.
