This place was packed almost every table was full. We were immediately greeted, seated and brought chips, salsa and our drink order was taken. I ordered the pork tamales with rice and beans and my other party ordered a chicken quesadilla. Our server was the owner and he brought us another round of chips salsa and topped off our water and ice tea. Then our meal arrived shortly afterwards. The pork tamales were freshly made and full of lightly seasoned pork drizzled with red sauce. So good. The rice was very light with a hint of garlic and chicken broth flavoring. It was fluffy and seasoned perfectly. Refried beans were very thin not the heavy kind with a white cheese melted over them. This plate was exceptional and I would definitely order again. After briefly chatting again with the owner I let him know that I we were regulars at the Wichita Falls location near shepherds Air Force Base, which happened to be where his brother was working. We had no idea they had this location in Lawton Oklahoma. We will definitely be back next time we are through on business. These are some hard-working individuals at both locations. You will not be disappointed. The food is exceptional. It's probably some of the best Mexican food I have had the pleasure of eating in years.

The food is excellent, delivered very hot, and made from scratch. Coupled with the knowledgeable service, this restarant distinguishes itself. Definitely worth a visit while in Lawton. After contacting the restaurant directly, I was told I would need to resolve the matter with DoorDash. However, DoorDash does not prepare or package the food--they only deliver what is provided to them. When I contacted DoorDash, they declined to issue a refund or credit, which has left me paying for items I did not receive. I have enjoyed Tu Familia's food in the past and truly want to continue supporting this business. However, customer service is just as important as the food itself. I am simply asking for accountability and a fair resolution for the missing items. I hope management will review this situation and respond appropriately. -- Seborah King

Last minute decision as we were in between places and wanted to eat on Fathers Day…read more Service was excellent! They cared to get us seated quickly and also in a location that was a good fit for our large family. Decor is very nice. The traditional hispanic clay art, artesanía, is displayed well here with a central "cabana" that has colorful clay birds nesting underneath. The cathedral sized walls are covered with paintings that are really nice (some should be touched up to keep it fresh) Some tables also are hand painted and that really adds authenticity! My husband got steak, I ordered combo B - taco, enchilada and pepper, taco salad for 2 children and fajitas for others. I will be honest. I was stuffed after the generous portion of table chips, cheese and salsa so I could only manage to eat the taco and next time that's what I want - 2 of them to be exact. It was really GOOD! My husband really loved the steak. My kids ate everything and wanted leftovers to come home with them. we were too stuffed to have sopapillas. (One even wrote on the lid - DO NOT TOUCH OR ELSE - hahaha) And our server was beyond excellent! Will go back again soon!!

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and when we finally got around to it, they…read morehad moved to their new spot we went over and they were closed so it seems like it took a year at least for us to get over here and I'm sad it took that long because they have really good food here. I was surprised that they were not very busy. We ordered and the food is not an inexpensive place, but not expensive either. We went and lived it. A week later we took our grandson there and this time, it was nearly full! The waitresses are nice. They're polite and they're helpful if you ask them for something. They kept our glasses filled and brought doggy bags when we needed them (because I could not finish a meal in this place). The portions are pretty big at least for me. I told my grandson that next time we go we will split a meal. He's 10 and told me no way He finished his whole meal. Yeah. Probably won't be splitting a meal with him after all. I'll just bring home a lot of leftovers. They had the quesadilla which they both enjoyed. My husband, my grandson, Muletti I think was the name of it. It's a round tortilla filled with the meat of your choice and then it has, cilantro, spices cheese It comes spicy or mild. The ambiance is nice. It's a quiet restaurant. The kids were more than welcome and they were very patient with the kids. I like darker restaurants because of my eyes. The really bright light also triggers migraines. Good news. It's a darker restaurant and it's a quieter restaurant the sound doesn't travel. I do know, in my wheelchair, we had no problem getting in and finding a place to sit. There was enough room to maneuver in there, which is always nice to know because not all restaurants are that easy. I would put this on my to-do list if you're looking for a new place to try that's Mexican. T's a good place to try. I think it is a family-owned restaurant Okay adding to this. Had take-home and it held up and they did not skimp on their to-go order. So a plus with that.

We are fans of nacho mama's in this family. Is it the absolute best Mexican food we've ever had?…read moreNo. But is it worth multiple return trips? Yes. Especially since the menu is big enough that we've been able to try something new every time. So far, the Street Corn has been my fave, but if you get it with the flaming hot Cheetos on top, just be prepared for what I'm pretty sure is an entire bag of it. A little too much for me, so I had to take a little off the top first, but if that's your jam definitely give it a try. The mama's taco was also really good. I'm personally not a fan of the salsa because it's too much cilantro for my liking. The Strawberry Banana aguas frescas that I got for the girls on our last trip tasted really fresh, and not overly sweet. The girls usually prefer just a basic taco with rice and beans, but Suri got adventurous and tried the bean and cheese nachos last time. She couldn't eat it because she said the cheese was too spicy. So if you've got spice averse kiddos, maybe avoid the queso. Before Nacho Mamas were brick and mortar, Lorenzo loved the birria. He says that it's still pretty good, but he remembers them being better when they were still a good truck. He really likes the enchiladas though. We've never tried their desserts, but I peeped the case last time and everything looked really good. I might be snagging a churro cheesecake to go next time we visit.
