Food was seasoned very well and the chicken thighs were sooo juicy. Would definitely come back try their other lunch items. Empanadas were good as well, I like the Jamaican beef one.

Passing through Gulfport, we saw Julio's Empanadas. We figured we would stop by on the way out. Julio's is conveniently located in a corner spot in what use to be a Gas Station. They have gas station stall parking so your car is in the shade. Going inside, you will see a handful of tables and the area where they have their food which is a hot plate for Puerto Rican entrees, & an area for empanadas. At the time they didn't have too many options of empanadas, but they said if we wanted something that wasn't available, they could make it for us. We picked out two empanadas to share them - Ropa Vieja and Flank Steak & Sweet Plantain. The Ropa Vieja was the better of the two. We did think the size of the empanadas were pretty small for the price. The empanada was tasty in that it was not greasy from being fried and it tasted baked even though it was fried bc they said they change their oil every two days. Check them out for a snack or a Puerto Rican Entree of your choice!

Walked in as soon as they opened! The reviews were amazing and they're legit. If you're an empanada fan this is the place to go. I got the traditional beef empanadas and the flank steak and plantain empanadas. Both were great! Very flavorful on the inside. Outside was nice a crispy. Had great flake to it without being hard and the beef was cooked to a very tender touch. The restaurant feels almsot like a diner. The staff are helpful and nice. Overall it was a great experience!

After driving past here almost everyday, I finally decided to try them out and I am glad I did. The lunch bowl was such a good portion for only $10 (i got the beans in the side). The chicken had great flavor. They have an assortment of unique empanada flavors. I tried the beef & steak/plantains. Both were great and full of meat. Julio's special sauce that comes with them is great, perfect amount of spice and citrus. Staff was great. Definitely will return.

Finally opened in Gulfport and after a lot of hard work, I'm so glad they are here. Hard working, authentic, and delicious. So glad they opened this second location at the corner of 49th St S and Gulfport Blvd S!

Perfect plantains. I could eat just these...

Stopped in because I saw it was open. Glad I did. Now I have a lunch place I can walk to if I have a hankering... Excellent service and spot on food. Oh, go ahead and pull right in. You won't be sorry..plus they have salads and dessert empanadas.

Well seasoned beef empanada's....look at that crust!

This morning, we were served what can only be described as tepid, stale, weak coffee--at a staggering $15 for two cups. It wasn't just disappointing; it was borderline offensive to call it Cuban coffee. True Cuban coffee is bold, rich, dark, and unmistakably strong. What we received was the opposite: a pale gray liquid with a suspicious, artificial flavor, as if something had been added to mask its age or poor quality. Temperature? Lukewarm. Strength? Nearly nonexistent. Authenticity? Zero. If you're expecting a proper Cuban coffee experience, this is not the place. It misses the mark on every level. For anyone in Gulfport who actually wants real Cuban coffee, go to Pipos in St Pete; it's worth the drive. Their coffee is exactly what it should be--strong, flavorful, and authentic. No comparison. Havana Cafe should either fix their coffee immediately or stop advertising it as Cuban. As it stands, it's overpriced and deeply disappointing.

The music upon entry was Latin classic and exactly what you'd want a spot like this. My friend and I split the Pork Sandwich which is usually my choice and he got the Palomilla Steak. Both were flavorful with the buttered Cuban bread and served with a side of green mojo sauce that was great for both sandwiches. We asked for some extra on the side and that helped make the sandwiches taste a little less dry. You gotta love mojo to come to a Cuban restaurant! The service was alright and the waitress was nice but we found ourselves asking for silverware, condiments, & the check a few times. I'd recommend regardless for others to come to Habana Cafe!

My brother who lives there swore by this spot, and the second I walked into Mi Carreta, I knew he wasn't exaggerating. The Bandeja Paisa? Absolute perfection. We're talking perfectly grilled steak, a runny fried egg, sweet plantains, creamy red beans, fluffy white rice, fresh avocado, crispy chicharrón, and grilled chorizo--all on one glorious platter. I attacked it so fast I didn't even snap a photo, but trust me, that plate is burned into my memory forever. As if the food wasn't enough, the TV above the counter was showing the World Cup group draw live. We found out who Colombia is facing right there over lunch--talk about perfect timing! The whole place was buzzing. For the grand finale, we grabbed a few Colombian donuts (buñuelos and pandebonos) to go. Sweet, cheesy, impossible to eat just one. If you're anywhere on Florida's west coast and craving authentic Colombian food, do yourself a favor and head straight to Mi Carreta in St. Pete. You can thank me (and my brother) later!
