From day 1, Dr. Reihsen has been much more interested in selling me sleep-apnea solutions for a non-existent problem. I get it. Gotta support the aesthetics side and this is the lead-in. That aside, with chart in front of her, she 'forgot' I was diabetic the first 3 visits. I felt I got better care from her assistants and routinely see them now. Unfortunately, this practice has been "between office managers" for several years now. Multiple urgent phone calls to refill prescriptions have been ignored. I'm seriously considering a letter to the Board questioning her ability to meet "standard of care". The last time I was ignored after multiple calls, I had to show up in person to get a response. I'm done. Actively looking for an alternative PCP and recommending patients stay away for medical care. I do not use her aesthetics business, so I cannot comment on that part of her business. Dr. Reihsen was made aware of this problem when it first arose and chose to do nothing about it. I sincerely hope this review makes her reconsider for the benefit of her remaining patients. read more

I used to see Dr Reihsen before she expanded her business and I truly loved her as a doctor. Dr Reihsen would listen and seemed genuinely concerned for my wellbeing. Since her expansion, I have only been there once. It seemed less organized and chaotic. I chalked it up to the change that was going on. Due to the care I had received, I recommended Dr Reihsen to friends and co-workers. I was truly upset (and embarrassed) that several had received extremely poor service. The last person I recommended was a co worker who had moved to Dallas from CA. Dr Reihsen scared the crap out of her from a false alarm blood test that really wasn't that bad. the doctor ordered lots of tests and then took weeks to get back with my coworker- even with the coworker constantly calling the office. The staff and/or doctor took their time in returning calls (up to a week or so, or not at all). Come to find out, my coworker is fine. She went elsewhere, where the doctor and staff actually treated her with respect, kindly, and with great customer service. This is just one of many stories I was told from people I referred. People would come to me for referrals because I didn't refer just anyone. I would vet them first. Now I will have to make sure I put disclaimers on my referrals.... For now... I am a 40+ year old healthy female who has not had medical insurance for 5+ years. I was so excited to finally have coverage. Though my first HMO experience, I didn't mind the PCP requirement. I actually liked the idea of having an initial "wellness exam" to insure all was ok and having one doctor manage manage my medical care and advise/guide me. It was a bit odd that I had to sign a form stating I would not be "treated" for any medical concerns. This was then reiterated by the nurse. Ok so basically, I'm here to not have any medical concerns addressed.... Um ok... From the moment Dr. Reihsen entered the room, she was curt, condescending, and at times almost combative. It was as if she was annoyed by my general presence and wanted me to know this. During the appointment, I wondered if this hostile, angry woman ever cared about patients and this was a bad case of burn out or if she was always like this. I would have taken it personally but I just met her and was polite! It's definitely her! I am on 2 medications- She informed me that she does not deal with either and would have to give referrals. In her questioning I responded with saying I wasn't sure if it was a hormone thing (maybe menopause).. Of course I was shut down before I got the sentence out with "your gynecologist will have to deal with that I don't." It was like a SNL "That's not my job" skit'. So instead of asking if she would look at a mole on my breast and write me a prescription for the acne facial medication that works well for me, thinking I was following protocol, I asked "Can I please get a referral to a dermatologist?" Her EXACT response, I kid you not, was "Holy Smokes!" When I asked for clarity, she told me she had never had a patient need so many referrals and I do "NOT need to see a dermatologist." I said so I haven't had a mole check in almost 10 years so I don't need one? I also pointed out the facial acne I am experiencing. In the end, a psychiatrist referral for my depression medication is NOT even required by my insurance. So she needed to send 2 referrals (gynecologist and dermatologist). Of course it took multiple calls to the office along with promises for call backs which never came! On one of them, I was told I needed to return for a visit so that it's documented in my chart before I can receive the referral. Um NO! If you want a caring, compassionate, doctor who cares about your health, medical care, and well being, Dr Julie Riehsen is NOT the doctor for you!! Life can be difficult at times. Being kind to one another is so easy and makes such a difference! Dr. Riehsen might want to give it a try!! I will definitely be switching to a different PCP.... read more

I am leaving this review in hopes that the doctor and office staff will re-commit two the oath of putting health first and do better going forward. I am a overall healthy 33-year-old woman. I had my first appointment at this office eight days ago. I booked an annual exam initially but have been having chest tighntness and pressure for the last four or five days prior. I thought maybe it was the weather changing or my asthma. I really couldn't put my finger on it. there are signs up in the office that says so talk to your doctor about any of your health concerns or medication refill requests during your visit. So I figured I would mention this. I began to talk to one of the medical assistant/ about the chest pain and pressure that I have been experiencing. She said to me "we cannot talk about that today because you are here for an annual exam". Now I understand that there are different ways you bill insurance. I am fully aware that an annual exam is covered by my insurance but a detective appointment would be coded differently and that I would have a co-pay. But I think that it is very inconsiderate and poor bedside manner to tell a patient experiencing chest pain and pressure for days that they "can't talk about it today because it's an annual exam." I feel like the most proper thing to do would be to say OK so we will reschedule your annual exam and focus on your matter at hand. I told her that I would have had to lie about how I was feeling when asked in order to "not talk about it today." I also told her that there could be some thing that they found in my labs that could help them determine what was going on with me. She walked away to talk to someone to confirm and then came back saying again "yeah, we can't talk about that today. We can schedule you another appointment but we can talk about that today." At this point I was in disbelief and so frustrated in struggling to breathe that I started crying. They got the "office manager" to come and calm me down. Ultimately they changed the appointment to a detective appointment, still completed my labs and re scheduled the rest of my annual exam. I saw NP Jamie Mendez. She suggested that I follow up with a cardiologist and pulmonologist. At my request she also wrote me a prescription for my asthma pump. As I exit the office prepared to pay my usual co-pay they tell me that I am going to have to pay near $200 because I'm a new patient. I did not think that sounded right but I was just happy to get out of there in two try the medicine along with my asthma pump to see if I could get some reprieve. Shortly after leaving the office called me back and said that they had made a mistake and that it was indeed only a $25 co-pay. They said they would reverse the charge of $200 and that I would simply owe the $25 co-pay the next time I came in for my annual exam that we scheduled for next week when we focused instead on my chest tightness. I asked what the messed up was so that I could avoid this mistake in the future. The person I was talking to simply said she was new and she made a mistake. At this point I was just happy that they caught the mistake and was still trying to be optimistic. Fast forward a week later and I cannot get into the cardiologist for another week and pulmonologist in my area are booked until June. Because I did not want to unnecessarily go to an ER just to sit there all night or all day, have them run some of the same tests (EKG, Spirometer) and then also advise that I follow up with a specialist, which I am already planning to do, I started to try to think outside of the box. I decided after consulting with a friend of mine who is a nurse, that a chest x-ray would be helpful in helping me determine whether or not this was something that was urgent that would require me to go to an emergency room. I called the doctors office back and ask them to write a prescription for me to have a chest x-ray done at a third party imaging facility. The people at the third-party told me that the doctor would have my results within a day or so. After waiting until well into the afternoon the next day I called the doctors office after not hearing anything. They said that they received my results but the doctor had not reviewed them yet and asked if I would like to come in for an appointment to review. I told him that I was not interested in scheduling yet another appointment because I still had the appointment for my annual exam coming up in a few days. I told them that I was sitting here waiting to find out whether or not I need to go to the emergency room and that they said the would give me my results over the phone. She said she would have the doctor review and call me back. I'll be honest, I've only continued going here because of the allergy services, but I'm giving that up. Their office is continually adding "services", everything from weight loss, to hormones, to vitamins (please save your money and by otc stuff), and now what looks like laser services, plus regular doctor stuff. One stop is good, but sometimes it seems like it's less about the patient. They've also been through 5 PAs or so since I started going there about 2 years ago. I've had 2 that I really liked, and the new one is meh. The doctor herself seems knowledgeable, but lacks bedside skills and I avoid her. I've unfortunately had secondary issues because she didn't listen to me well and went to a different doctor. The worse though is the response/feedback. I've gone a couple of times where they didn't put in my appointment and the final straw is the last blood work I had done was 5 times worse than it should be and 25 times worse than my normal. I didn't get a call, so I called and told them I need my meds up and to talk to a PA, they called in the same RX, so I called the next day. This problem is a life altering issue. I told them to tell the PA she needed to review my work and then call in a new RX. Nothing. So, I've upped my own meds, hope I didn't screw it up, and seeing a new doc next week. I should have made this decision sooner. On a plus, you can get in pretty quickly, so if you've got some sort of infection they can help you out there. read more

I've had really good experience with Dr. Reihsen. She took more time with me than any other doctor that I've seen in many years. She listens to my concerns, give options and actually seems to care. I have yet to find a doctor who respects the decisions I've made about my body, namely, that I won't be having children. For people who don't understand the frustration, imagine you've just told the doctor you're expecting, then she tells you how expensive kids are, and you should come in and see how gross her nephew's kid is, and maybe you'll change your mind once the kid is born. Horrendous, no? That's how it feels to be talked down to when I make the opposite decision. I won't return. She told me I should be taking folic acid. I know it prevents birth defects, but it didn't apply to me. She told me I should come in and see her nephew's kid. I'm one of a handful of a children, babies aren't mysterious, I know exactly what they are and no thank you. She told me that I might find a guy who'll change my mind. I told her I'm married (it's on my chart too), and she was surprised, "He doesn't want them either?" Well, I wouldn't have married him if he did. She also pointed out that certain cancer risks go down after having a child. Great, but I'd rather risk it because if that's my only reason to birth a child, that's selfish. Positives: reasonable wait, 10-15 minutes over my appt time because they squeezed in a walk-in. read more

I started going to this doctor about 2years ago. My sister referred my whole family so I decided to give her a try. In July, I went due to excessive coughing & breathing trouble. She diagnosed me over a Zoom call stating to go to the emergency room because I might have had covid...I got a negative test & was given antibiotics by the hospital. A week later, no change, so I paid another $50 for a deductible & had another zoom call with her. She prescribed me antibiotics & an inhaler for $400. I ended finding a coupon via Good RX so I only paid $175 for the inhaler. Then she prescribed me another inhaler plus 2 more medications that I didn't even need. Turns out I wasn't fit to work that whole time she she gave me time off of work but the amount of money I spend on the expensive meds she prescribed wasn't worth it. In order for me to go backs to work, Long term disability said I had to get a form signed releasing me for work. Called the office & found out I had to pay $50 for them to sign a paper that took literally a minute to sign. Then a week later Cigna made me get another form signed so I had to pay the office ANOTHER $50 to sign that form as well. Something that could have been done in 2 minutes cost me $100 total. Against my better judgement, I paid, only so I could return to work. Ok, so I just visited her office today. I e been feeling really depressed lately. Crying for no reason, no sleep, anxious, anxiety through the roof. The assistant was so nice & caring. Dr. Reihsen cam in & immediately judged me. She was yelling which made me very uncomfortable due to her thin a** walls in her office. She made me feel SO bad about coming to get help due to my recent attempt of depression. She yelled at me, made me fee horrible. I was already crying & stressed & out of my body but for her to make me feel like s*** for asking for help. I was already on edge & if I wasn't in my right mind, she would have pushed me to harm myself because I get like if my doctor don't care, nobody does. She told me she wasn't going to prescribe me any medicine because I might go home & try to OD on the pills. Then she got upset because I drove myself to her office instead of my 17 year old being with me. Mind you, my daughter doesn't drive yet. I felt low as a person. I was humiliated to say the least. Then she told me I didn't need a psychologist, I needed to sign myself into a facility for help. I realize I have a daughter to live for so harming myself is off of the table but I'm sane enough to not harm myself. I think if I needed that kind of help, I would have did that instead of seeking a referral from her office! read more

My experience was the worse. I was feeling extremely sick. Since my family doctor is located in Sunnyvale and I live in Addison I wanted to see someone closer to home, for immediate attention purposes. So I found Julie Reihsen. Wait time wasn't bad at all,the building is very outdated. The nurse that took my vitals was new, she seemed a bit nervous which made me nervous. Upon seeing the doctor, she did not want to prescribe me medication. She simply stated, "Drink water, trust me you'll feel better." In my head I said, "excuse me?" I was so frustrated and I asked could at least have amoxicillin? So she response. "Ok, sure i can do that." I didn't lose a day at work just for the doctor to tell me oh yeah drink whatever. Definitely not what I wanted or expected to hear. The overall experience was not very good and I would not ever think about going back nor recommend to anyone. read more

While she knows her medicine, the last two visits I have felt more like a paycheck than a patient. In fact, this past visit, despite telling 3 different people in that office that I could only do what was covered by insurance, I was still stuck with a $145 surprise bill for a "routine check" that was not covered. That's the difference of paying electricity in my house. I will NOT be going back to her ever again no matter how much medical knowledge she has. As much as I love Dr. Reihsen and her PA and have been a patient for YEARS, I am very upset and frustrated with the office manager and new "policies" they have put in place. I was seen there 2 weeks ago and paid for a covid, flu and strep test, all were negative but I still had to drive over there for them to swab and then make me wait in my car for a virtual appointment. Today, I go back because I am still not better and they want to charge me for all those swabs again and refuse to see me or let me talk to the PA without those tests that total $100. This is ridiculous. I truly believe if the Dr or PA knew I was a recheck they would have spoken with me, especially since the PA told me to call back if things don't improve. Why is it that 2 years ago when I was sick with RSV, I was able to ACTUALLY be seen before making me test for anything and now I can't, especially for a follow up appointment. I am in healthcare and have been for seven years. I see many things that place in a clinic. It was now time to take care of myself as I have put health off for many years due to my financial situation and that time has changed! Dr. Julie Reihsen was randomly assigned to me from my boss once insurance kicked in and told my boss two things: 1.) she has to be a female 2.) she better be close to where I live. Not only could I walk to clinic if I wanted to OMG I love my boss for the random pic because this is by far the smoothest. quickest, hands on clinic I have ever seen. The clinic is organized without a doubt and I am so blessed boss chose Dr. Reihsen because it's exactly what I was looking for and where I will be for life!! Thank you for an amazing team !!! I have been a patient of Dr. Reihsen for about three years. In that time I've been in the office for 6 patient visits. The last visit all new staff. It took several sticks and two people to draw my blood. I was told I failed my EKG and needed two heart sonograms at my physical. I figured out the girl that was doing the blood draw and EKG was new and hadn't done either very times previous. I called my surgeon as I was about to have spinal fusion surgery. I was told they think the EKG was done wrong and they sent me for early pre-op surgery testing. NO issue with drawing my blood and I passed the EKG with flying colors. The heart sonograms would have cost me $425 or more out of pocket. Also, I asked that nothing that was not covered by insurance be done at my required annual physical. I got a bill the next month for $130 for some procedure they did I hadn't ever heard of that was not necessary. Also, in the six patient visits Dr. Reihsen has spent two 5 minute visits with me and not listened to anything I had to say. She also doesn't return phone calls, the staff does and you have to "speak" through them. I have found a new GP and will not return to Dr. Reihsen's office. read more

I don't post many reviews but I read reviews before I do almost anything! I thought I would leave my review here today to help anyone who's similar to me. I needed a new family doctor, having just moved to the area. Dr. Rheisen was contracted with my insurance so I went ahead and chose her at random (should've known better.) I simply wanted to be seen to get a new prescription for a depression medication that I have been on for more than a year. The doctor came in the room and once I had told her the reason for my appointment that day, she threw a bunch of paperwork at me and told me she'd be back. It was just one of those stupid sheets asking "how sad are you on a scale of 1-10 and how often blah blah blah" Of course all of my responses were pretty crummy because I have major depressive disorder. Dr. Rheisen saw my answers and completely lost her ****! She insisted I needed to go to a hospital immediately and that I needed more help than she could give (???) I was extremely embarrassed because the walls in the office are really thin and Dr. Rheisen's voice really travels. She was seriously over exaggerating because my own therapist is never this alarmed over common depression symptoms. I believe it has to do with her old age but she seriously refused to treat me and then had her office manager come in and make me sign an Against Medical Advice form because I wouldn't go to a mental hospital...seriously?! I was just trying to make it through finals week and the lady wouldn't write me a script for a med I've been on for so long. The icing on the cake was the bill she sent me later lol. Trying to get established with new doc and specifically said I need prescriptions for existing conditions and all she could do is refer me to specialists. I just moved towards this area and was looking for a good family doctor. I called and scheduled my appointment with the receptionist, showed up on the day of the appointment, then they said I came at the wrong time. To top that off, the doctor requested for me to get the files from the prior doctors to be sent to her. I called their receptionist but nothing was done. Then, she said that the nurse would call me back to keep me posted, but again, no response. If you have time to wait at this place, then go. The office staff is so disorganized. read more

Horrible wait time! 1 hour wait for a prescription that they could have called in to the pharmacy or electronically sent to the pharmacy but because they are still in the 80s they refuse to take my advice and update. It was only 3 people in the waiting area and I was the first one in so why must I be the last one to get a prescription ONLY because they messed up...not me! I was frigging right and did everything they told me to do only to wait 1 hour for a rewritten prescription! I have been coming here for 8 years back and forth from Sanger and now from Forney. I only stayed this long because of loyalty and I hate switching doctors. I have to go...she won't miss my money because she has plenty of people waiting in the lobby. read more

Originally when I went back at the end of November in 2015, I did not see Dr. Reihsen, I saw her PA, which was fine. I had just wanted to be seen. Her PA had thought it would be a good idea to see the allergist, whom was located in there office (which was very convenient). I did not make the appointment until the end of January of 2016. I called them 1/25/16 and ended up scheduling my appointment with them that Friday, which was amazing that they could see me then. Made work arrangements to go ahead and be seen. I called them the day before of my appointment to see how much my payment would be, since I did ask them to call me back and tell me and they never did. They kept putting me on hold, within my 15 minute conversation, I had probably been put on hold 6 times and only spoke with the front desk for 2 minutes. Then they told me to call them back later on during the day. Around 5:00 o'clock I received a voicemail, to let me know I would have to rescheduling because they were more focused on moving building. I was advised to call back, but they were closed. In my opinion, wouldn't you know that you're moving building 4 days prior to me scheduling my appointment with the allergist? I got over it, and rescheduled my exam for a week later on 2/5/16. I called them the day before to ask where they are located since they moved buildings. The front desk asked me my name 4 times and was unsuccessful in finding my appointment for the next day. They then asked me what kind of exam I was coming in for, when I told them it was to see the allergist (at that point annoyed) they then finally told me there new address. While on the phone, I also move my appointment to earlier in the day due to work, and in doing so they asked me again what kind of appointment I needed, again, I told them it was for the allergist. I walk into the office the day of my appointment, and there allergist had quit the week before.... At this point, I am livid. I asked them, why didn't they notify me the day before when I called stating I had an appointment for the allergist? They had no answer, I was extremely unhappy and they let me walk out of there office with no resolution to my problem. Overall, I believe there front desk was very unproductive, unprofessional, and unknowledgeable... Seeing how as I work in the medical field, I would have better exceptions from there front desk. read more

So to follow up about my first review I received a bill from her doctors office today and they did not file anything the first time saying I paid anything towards my bill with my insurance and on the second visit they put a bunch of stuff on the bill that they didn't do so on Monday I get to go to their office and let them know what's going on and that they need to correct it because according to the bill I owe a little over $200 when in reality after talking to BlueCross BlueShield I may only owe about $20. I will also be reporting this office to Consumer Affairs because I already talked to the fraud department for Texas when it comes to insurance fraud and that's where they told me to start. read more

I was told the out of pocket charge for an office visit with no insurance was 75$. I paid the full amount due at the time of the visit and then received an additional bill a week later. Julie did not provide good care and i am also being billed incorrectly. I called to inquire about the issue and was told there is no billing department to speak to and that i would receive a call back from a manager. I finally had to leave after being a patient of Dr. Reihsen for 3 years. The quality has gone downhill significantly. Dr. Reihsen never recalled any of my medical history, despite having the chart in front of her. I found my meetings to be rushed, probably because there are so many people in the office waiting to see her. I would wait in the lobby for upwards of 40 minutes, and then wait an additional 15-20 after the nurse's visit before Dr. Reihsen even showed up. This happened no matter what time of day my visit. I do work 9-5, and had to take extra hours off on the days I would visit the doctor. Dr. Reihsen also asked me if I wanted to have children, and only stopped probing once I told her I was not in a relationship. That was uncomfortable. As soon as the office started doing allergy shots in house, I was pushed to get them. However, upon further investigation, they informed me that my allergies were "too high" for shots, and I was sent to a specialty place. (The allergy specialist told me I was fine not to get the shots.) The front desk could not answer any of my billing questions. They sent me to a third party, who sent me right back to Latrisse (the office manager) at Dr. Reihsen's office. Latrisse, by the way, was less than charming herself and could not explain my billing issue. It took me calling Latrisse three times before she agreed to let me visit the office to show her my bills. But the billing isn't even my biggest concern, because I understand that insurance is confusing. In the recent months, the visits had become a circus. There were always new, rotating doctors observing with you, even during very personal exams. They seemed to have 3 or 4 appointments at any given slot, and they called you back first come first serve. Have I made myself clear? I am very disappointed, and have found many doctors nearby who are more accommodating. I hope that everybody involved can learn something from this review to become a better practice. read more

Do NOT go to this office! The PA and the office manager do not know how to treat or speak to patients. Very condescending and accusatory. The office refuses to let you speak to the dr. or take a message (This happened 3x) Yesterday they put me on hold indefinitely...I held almost 1hr and when I called them from another line, they had closed! They have a huge turnover in the office and it's been that way for years. They are not knowledgeable or organized and definitely do not have any customer service skills! Another thing, they have some fancy new equipment which I questioned and told it's included in my visit.. but then I received a bill for and continually harassed for $344. I had met my deductible too. Eventually I found out they submitted it under an old coverage I no longer had even though they had my current coverage and card on file! I've been refused refills for blood pressure and other medicine unless I go in or see a specialists. The dr also went back on her word, told me one thing but did another. I am done! I have been going to this office for over 8 years. Dr. Reihsen is the absolute best. She's funny, friendly and really cares. Things have always been good, but this last visit I was charged an for an annual physical. The girl working the checkout counter told me how much and I immediately said "Really", to which she said nothing. I reluctantly paid. After leaving, I called my insurance company and confirmed this should've been 100% covered. When I called the office back and explained what I learned, they reversed the payment and fixed the issue. I appreciate it, but I think they should invest in more qualified billing associates who understand who should be charged for what procedures. read more

I love dr Julie reihsen. She's a no nonsense, caring, and attentive family care doctor. I've been coming here for two years now for physicals, sick days, and more. The wait is usually between 5 and 10 minutes. The nurses are also very friendly. She has an in house allergist as well. I recommend her to everyone! read more

I've been seeing Dr Reishen for 4+ years now. She actively listens, strives hard to keep appointment times and genuinely cares for her patients. She has personally called me after hours, just to check on me. Her staff is professional, returns calls in a timely manner, and puts you at ease when you walk in the door. She has always been able to get me in same day when I needed to. The wait times are normally 15 minutes or less. She is a terrific doctor with the ethics to go along with it. read more

Unfortunately their service has declined MAJORLY in the past year. Most of the staff that supports the doctor refuse to actually help with even the simplest of requests (ie. status of medical records you've had to repeatedly request copies of, simple questions cannot be answered because they don't know or don't care, they put you on hold and hangup on you, they have an attitude if you ask ANYTHING about your appointment or what to expect insurance to cover. Honestly i could go on and on but i will spare you). I was once VERY fond of this practice until this year. In the experience i have had i would suggest looking elsewhere due to the staff alone. If I were only grading Dr Reihsen and her only i would give her an A+, but her support staff killed it for me since they are her gatekeepers and working with them is like a second full time job and are such a NIGHTMARE to work with. read more
