And don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to going into the office regularly again, I'm just not looking forward to having to bother with eyeliner again. So, I decided to splurge and get eyeliner permanently tattooed. After doing some research, JPMU seemed to have reasonable prices, good experience, good facilities, and good reviews, so I booked a session with Julia. I'd never had a tattoo before so I don't know how it would compare to a tattoo elsewhere. They numb your eyelids first, but as it slowly wears off it does hurt a little, and it's obviously not PLEASANT having a needle buzzing so close to your eyes. Still, the first appointment took under 2 hours, and then a touch-up between 1-2 months later was shorter, and the ink should last for 3-5 years although they recommend checking in after a year or so since individual experience varies. Your eyelids will be puffy and a bit sore for the next couple of days but it's no worse than how they feel sore after a good cry. I had the tattoos on Tuesday late afternoon and my eye lids were still a bit puffy for the next 3-4 days, but the boyfriend actually didn't notice anything unusual when he saw me Thursday night (maybe this says more about my boyfriend than anything else, but ... clearly not THAT noticeable). Mind you, he still hasn't noticed that tattoos either... Anyway the eyeliner looks great, understated but basically how I'd apply it for a normal day at work and I don't have to do anything but add a little mascara if I feel like it. Would recommend bringing some photos of your eyeliner the way you want it to look, or looking through the photos on their site to find one that looks like what you want.

That's when I found M.U.D.! I was obviously scared because I've never been there before but everyone was so helpful and friendly and really listened to what I wanted. Erynn was amazing and made me feel so comfortable with the huge change I was going to get to my hair. Erynn's haircuts also grow out very well. I've only had it trimmed once or twice since I've gotten it cut and it still looks really good and has a really nice shape to it. I've recently gone back to her to get my hair coloured and she was very knowledgable about what was reasonable and what can be done with my hair. Overall it's a nice salon. The gift card promotion was misleading, and when I questioned how it was being handled, the company did not honor what I understood to be advertised. What made the situation even more concerning was the handling of the gift card balances. What is especially concerning is that I had two gift cards that were actually on my account, while another two were gifts that had never even been added to my account. Yet somehow, there were questions surrounding balances and transactions on those cards as well. The whole situation left me with serious concerns about how the gift card balances and transactions were being managed. When I reached out to try to resolve the issue, I expected someone to look into it professionally and work toward a reasonable solution. Instead, the communication turned into an ongoing back-and-forth argument. Rather than trying to understand the customer's concern or find a resolution, the person handling the matter seemed more interested in defending their position and insisting on their own interpretation of the rules. I want to be clear that the staff I have dealt with in person have actually been the best part of this company. They have been friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Unfortunately, the experience dealing with the owner or whoever deals with their email communication has been the complete opposite. The lack of customer service, willingness to listen, and professionalism was extremely disappointing. Customers should not have to argue repeatedly to have a company properly investigate a gift card balance or explain unexplained transactions. If a promotion is advertised, customers should be able to rely on those terms, and if there is a misunderstanding, the company should be willing to work with the customer rather than simply dismissing the concern. At first I thought it was a bit strange because I was just awkwardly standing at the front of the shop for at least 10 minutes with no sign of anyone. But I was early so maybe that explains why. The lady who started my pedicure was pleasant, but in all honesty there were two main issues that came up - it took 2 hours and 15 minutes to get a pedicure, which is much, much longer than any other pedicure I've had in the past. Especially when you consider the second issue - the polish application was so bad that I just came home and took it all off. My toes were basically uneven globs of nail polish; four very quick coats of slapping it on, and then constant poking at it to see if it was dry. I mean constant. Eventually the globs of polish went slightly tacky and then my nails were covered in the fingerprints of the lady applying it. I didn't realize how bad it was until I went to leave and could see it in the sunlight. It was so thick that I didn't think it would ever dry solid. I went back in to ask her to remove the polish from my big toes because they were the worst of it, which she did, and at that point I just wanted to have her remove all the polish so I could just go home and do it myself. Instead I just asked her to apply one coat to my big toes but at this point, I couldn't fathom sitting in there after already being there for so long. Then phone started ringing, so she just told me to 'take care'. I left but I was extremely unsatisfied and disappointed, and definitely won't ever go back, or recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of less expensive, higher quality places in the city you can go to.
