And in all its simplicity, Go! Salads's lemon basil vinaigrette made my salad sing. I detected lemon basil, a bit of honey, a squirt of lemon juice, salt, and olive oil, just enough to bring out each salad component's flavors. I inhaled the full serving in 5 minutes. Aside from the Peachy Traveller salad, I was also impressed with their Balsamic Mushroom Chickpea sandwich, a thick, six-inch long ciabatta loaf stuffed with this huge slab of sweet-tangy and juicy mock meat, topped with fresh cucumber slices. Incredulous, I had to verify with the server if this was indeed the chickpea filling, not tofu. Affirmative. Their pita bread with garlic hummus was nothing out of the ordinary. But for one slice of pita, there was plenty of hummus left over to dip my sandwich in. Their Eastwood branch is cozy, with a private nook for more intimate dates. Intimacy aside, I like my privacy even in public, so this tiny quiet spot away from prying eyes is a plus for me. HOWEVER: For a salad joint, Go! Salads does not serve plenty of vegan-friendly options. All of their salads either have meat or animal by-products like cheese and honey. You'll have to ask the server to omit these, or you can gun for their green smoothies, and some of their sandwiches and soups. Their specialty teas are a bit watery and bland; the cupcakes, flavorful as they are, tend to be dry.The tea could swap some of its moisture for the cupcakes' sweetness, and life would be perfect. At the time of my visit, the staff blasted OPM rock music on the radio, which didn't fit the store's peaceful ambience and ethos. The other patron, a girl in her twenties, was deeply immersed in a book, so I'm sure that the loud, blaring tunes were an unwelcome distraction as well. This is a place to detox, and that includes clearing your mind of noise, not adding to it. The staff obviously was playing loud music for themselves, not for the clientele. STILL: I plan to return, this time for the smoothies.

Naka lagay na kasi sa plastic container ang mga healthy salads at snacks na mabibili dito kaya hindi ko na kailangan pang isipin kung paano ko ito ibabaon. Oorder lang ako dito ng dalawang gourmet salad (P100.00/each), isang green smoothie (P100.00) at dalawang pita with hummus or sun dried tomato snack (P50.00/each) at buhay na ako mula brunch hanggang hapunan. Salads in case I wouldn't get my fill on just one order of leafy greens. It turns out, though that I didn't have to! For only P100, you get a good serving of salad, and I felt pretty full from my order of Wild Wild West (I chose it for the buffalo chicken bites it had in it), which was really refreshing. The vegetables were still pretty crisp, and dare I say, delicious even without the meat! I had a Breakfast Smoothie on the side, but that actually proved too much because the smoothie was so filling; it could have been a meal on its own. I'll take note of this place when I have extra time to eat out and maybe decide to lengthen my lifespan a bit more, LOL.

So I was very happy when Go! Salads arrived in Katipunan. Whenever I crave for salad greens, I come here. The salads are all worth PhP 100 only. My favorites are the no-meat salads: Peach Traveler and Sweet Caroline. The greens are fresh and the kitchen puts in an adequately generous amount of other ingredients. I really wished that this store would be successful in Katip so that I would have a salad place nearby. Like an angel of blessing, the store extended and now offers green shakes. I tried their Breakfast Smoothie made of apple, banana, cinnamon, chia seeds, oats, coco sugar, soy, and greens. It did taste like a mix of vegetables with hints of cinnamon. I enjoyed it a lot because I like the taste of vegetables and of cinnamon. I am not sure, however, if the green smoothies would be a hit for everyone since the taste of the greens was quite dominant. But, if you are a health food lover or just brave enough to be a vegetarian for once, try Go! Salads.

A trip to The Vegetarian Kitchen is a special occasion for me because it's far (I live in the south) and for me to go all the way to QC, it has to be worth it. And "worth it" is what TVK's food is all about. This place really knows how to do COMFORT FOOD so, so well. Each meal is plated beautifully and carefully, and (pardon the *vegan* cheese) with so much love. What I love about TVK is how vegan-friendly it is. The menu has "V" markers for vegan dishes, and makes it convenient for us vegans. I recommend the Tocino and Tofu Scramble if you're feeling breakfast-y. The Grilled Salmon with Coriander Pesto is a house favorite. You'll love the "fish" they used, which has a seaweed skin. The Grilled Steak Sandwich is great for meat-loving folks, and very hearty. For appetizers, their fried tofu skins are delicious (though, if you're oil-conscious, order something else). Every month they feature a different cuisine along with their regular menu, so clearly there's always a good reason to come here at least once a month! This place really does vegetables the justice they deserve, and this remains among the top veggie restaurants in my list.

But, my brother surprised me by saying, "Dude, can we eat salad?"... WHAT?! Salad for dinner? Fine, I guess he didn't want anything heavy after a long day. So, we walked around and we ended up at Go! Salads. I heard about this place back in college. They started as a college entrepreneurial project. Now, they have a restaurant along Katipunan and 5 other branches. Since this was my first time, the server recommended that I try the Sweet Caroline (mixed greens with candied walnuts, sun-dried tomatoes, Parmesan cheese and honey balsamic vinaigrette); my brother decided to try the Sgt. Steak Salad (mixed greens with seared steak, sauteed mushrooms and chimichurri dressing). All their salads are Php120 (2.57USD); for additional nuts, just add Php20 (0.43USD). Apart from salads, they also offer sandwiches, smoothies and herbal teas. We decided not to order smoothies because my brother doesn't like wheat grass. So, we got our salads and headed home. My verdict: The Sweet Caroline is my kind of salad! Usually, I would prefer to have chicken with my salad but, this salad was good as it is. The salad dressing is definitely the hero. The sweetness from the honey balances with the tanginess of the balsamic vinegar. Then, you have the candied walnuts. Walnuts aren't my favorite but these candied walnuts are deliciously addictive! I should buy a bag next time to sprinkle over my own salad, over popcorn, over ice cream or just straight into my mouth. LOL! Next time, I'll try their Bayani Salad or Peach Traveler. :D

I was finally able to grab dinner here a couple days ago and I was very pleased with my experience. The interiors are very bright, giving off a really fresh vibe, setting the perfect ambiance for your salad! They offer a variety of pre-set salad combinations, but you can also choose to make your own. In addition, you can opt to put your salad mix into a wrap, which I will definitely try in the future. I ordered the Cheaper than a Facial salad, and my friend had the Go Geisha. I sampled some of my friend's Go Geisha and it was delicious. I really enjoyed my Cheaper than a Facial, although halfway in I realized that my salad was drenched in its Thai lemongrass dressing. I literally poured a good few tablespoons of dressing out of my salad. SO. MUCH. DRESSING. (-1 star) I eventually asked the staff if it would be possible to ask for extra lettuce since the remainder of my salad had become soggy, showing them the dressing that I had already poured out of my salad. They happily obliged and didn't charge me for the extra lettuce (+1 for that!). I will make sure to ask for dressing on the side next time, and recommend that you do, too. Portions are good enough to fill you up an entire meal. I'll be back for sure!

During my first time there, I decided to order their Krasates, which is grilled pork chops served with blue cheese walnut and Greeka's special gravy. I have to admit, it is a little bit expensive for me. The serving portion is not really that big and it didn't really make me full and satisfied, but it is still something worth trying. The pork chops were flavorful and tender and the sour taste of the blue cheese made the dish even better. Greeka is not really my usual dining spot, but I would definitely suggest other people to try it.

I've been patronizing their Makati branch since they opened up, and now that they've secured a spot at the Podium I often stop by there for lunch to get something fresh and rejuvenating after walking around in unbearable Ortigas heat. What's great about Juju Eats is that they allow you to have total control over what you'd like to put in your salad/wrap/pasta salad, even down to the portions (they have half and full options even for the toppings), which is PERFECT if you're a picky eater/strict vegetarian or vegan, or on a budget. Though, if you're soooo hungry that you can't be bothered to create your own meal, they have pre-made options you can choose from. My latest obsession is their Quinoa Gold wrap--it's amazing stuff! It's so refreshing and packed with flavor, plus the raisins add a nice, contrasting punch. I love it so much that I wouldn't mind eating this every single day. Although, I'd feel so guilty thinking about how the quinoa industry is harming Bolivian and Peruvian farmers, and depleting their water supply. So, yeaaaaaah. I'm glad I can't afford to eat quinoa on a daily basis, either. Moving on, Juju Eats is also known for their bottled detox juices, though I find these too pricey for a small serving.
