Whenever there's a Fruitas stall nearby, there's just no way that I'm buying a can of soda. This fruit shake stall is a good way to get in your daily recommended intake of five servings of fruit a day. You know that you are getting real fruit with every order, not just some heavily-sugared concentrate that is more chemical than fiber.
While I always plan to try something new, somehow I always end up ordering the same fruit flavors again and again: ripe mango, banana and mango, or orange and mango. I do indulge in guyabano (soursop) whenever it is available but since they use whatever fruit is in season, but somehow, it would seem that not all stalls keep these in stock since presumably, taking out the seeds takes more prep time for the crew.
Their shakes are served in wax paper cups but I wish that they could also offer discounts for customers who bring their own takeaway containers. Also, it wouldn't hurt if they shifted to paper straws and paper lids, considering Quezon City's no plastics policy.
On every stall, there's a placard that says your shake is free if you don't get a proper greeting and a smile from the attendant. I've gotten neither smile nor proper greeting lots of times, but have yet to demand for my free drink. read more
