A few weeks ago, I stopped into a Juice Generation on the UWS, to try out their new Matcha smoothie. Firstly, the smoothie was outstanding. Tbh, I was a bit skeptical at first, but this experience completely changed my mind, and made me a believer in "matcha smoothies." (For the not-yet-believers out there, I recommend having it with their wonderful almond mylk.) Secondly, I loved the welcoming feel of the store; it felt both relaxed and productive in there. And the sweet man who helped me out -- Mitchel -- was so friendly that I felt like I was in a five star restaurant, not a smoothie and juice joint. Man... super disappointed someone told me to stop by here for an acai bowl but what I ended up with was a smoothie in a bowl that overflowed... idk what the acai base is made with but it's super milky/creamy and melted (I did walk back to my car about ten mins) to eat. It's not that hot out (66 degrees) sooo I'm not sure what happened. But it's my fault for still opening it up when it looked soupy and made a mess but it's just not great in flavor. There's also no public restroom at this place. This may be a one off since someone recommended it and the reviews seem to be good (albeit dated) but idk if I'll be back. read more

I am diabetic and unable to have fruit juice. I ordered their Supa Dupa Green juice w/o apple. When I got it, it tasted very sweet so I asked them. And they said it was the cucumber that was sweet, b/c it is in season. So unfortunately I had to throw away that juice and order another one from a different location b/c it was so sweet and did taste like apples. So I paid double for one juice. Very unfortunate that they don't take people's health issues seriously. read more

Juice generation sticks to what they know how to do: make healthy shakes, juices and in my case, acai bowls. There's not a wide variety here, especially with acai bowls and you can't customize it with any extras or create one from scratch, which I'd prefer. But, when the craving hits there's only one place I'll go, and that's here .. the All-Star acai ball is all that and a healthy bag of chips. read more

First off: TIP YOUR CASHIER in CASH! These guys work hard on their feet all day and the app everyone uses does not have the option to tip. Second- every single product on the menu rocks! You want something refreshing, get the Mucho Mango smoothie. Looking for something more filling, get the Joyful Almond (with almond milk, thank me later). The VEGAN (yay!) and gluten free snacks are delicious, especially the Pop-Ts and the donuts! Thirdly: the staff are ALWAYS professional, ALWAYS kind despite the dozens of obnoxious moms who try to cram their giant strollers in the small space instead of leaving the damn things outside. More than half the time I get both my smoothie AND a paper cup with more of what I ordered, the extra that didn't fit, which is wonderful because it shows they're not wasteful here. Love this place! Although I feel like Juice Generation is overpriced, the smoothies and drinks are worth it for the benefit you get from it. You can probably mix the ingredients yourself at home according to the recipe of your favorite concoction, but the blender they use seems to do the trick so that there are seldom any chunks left throughout your smoothie. I definitely recommend joining the rewards program if you frequent this place. It will pay off a little bit. I try to come here at least once a week to get a healthy dose of any greens or nutrients I'm missing in my diet. I'm genuinely obsessed with this location. We have lived near a Juice Generation before but we went in less often compared to this one which is nearby to our new apartment. I don't know if it's the staff or the layout but we now come in almost every day. The staff is really extra level amazing and friendly and helpful. Everything I've ever ordered is delicious and made with care. The salads in the case are delicious, super happy I tried them and their baked goods are delicious. The açaí bowls are the best in the city, hands down. This store is always immaculate. It's one of the best places in this area for a healthy meal or snack. Used to like to sit here to eat but they got rid of any seats at this locations so all you can do is stand or take out. Kind of annoying but was still willing to come. Also love my PB acai bowls. Last time here they gave me a miniscule amount of peanut butter with my bowl (about the size and thickness of a banana slice-I would say a teaspoon). I politely asked for a little more (never have I been given such a tiny scoop) and I was told that was all that they could give me unless I wanted to pay extra. I would note that the first employee seemed happy to add some more PB but was actively stopped in the process by one of the other (higher ranked ?) workers. I was also told that they would never give any more than that again. For a 12 dollar acai bowl I didn't think a tablespoon of PB was too much to ask. This is my first time visiting a Juice Generation location and coincidentally my first yelp review. Unfortunately I can't say that it's going to be a good one. Or that I'll be back. Pro's: * Quick service. Drinkable. Nice decor. Con's: * Price. $22 for smoothies that aren't out of this word is no bueno. I've had better smoothies for far less. * Messed up my order. How?? I haven't a clue as I was the only customer they had. I ordered a Smooth Strawberry (+avocado) and Mucho Mango. I got two strawberry smoothies. Don't know if the person making my drink added the avocado I paid for. * Customer service. I'll leave this perhaps pending, but the fact that I couldn't speak to someone directly at the location I made my purchase from is a total inconvenience. I called the listed number only to be met with an automated message saying they were closed and business hours are from 8am-5pm (but the location closes at 9pm) and need to leave a voicemail. I've had a couple green juices here, I can't remember which, but it had pineapple in it. It was delightful, but I make my own green juice each week so I try not to buy it anywhere. My guy and I saw this juice spot after we left our early morning movie down the street and I wanted to try it out. This place smells and looks amazing. I felt healthier just standing in there with all the fresh veggies and fruits beautifully displayed. I don't understand the bad reviews here. My go to item has always been the professional greens juice which is super healthy and delicious. Too my surprise they have gluten free vegan pop tarts here that were absolutely delicious that I had two. Omg I love love love this location! I have to be really honest lol. Whoever is the HR is choosing really buff, pleasant to look at guys lol. These people are also really nice and when I was having a rough day they gave me every last drop of my order. Got the cashew butter smoothie. The listed ingredients are: raspberries, strawberries, frozen coconut milk, nut milk, cacao nibs and cashew butter. Problem is, when the person made my smoothie, I saw she put bananas and SQEEZED SOME MYSTERIOUS SYRUP into the blender, and these ingredients were definitely not listed. I personally have reactive hypoglycemia, meaning I have diabetic reactions when I eat high glucose foods. It can happen even when I eat healthy starches like sweet potato and banana, and the reason I chose the cashew butter smoothie was I assumed all sugar would come from berries, which have the lowest glycemic index among all fruits. Not only did I not want those bananas, I would really really not like them to squeeze extra sweetener into my smoothie. The point of going to these trendy health food shops is that you know what goes into your food. If the syrup was unrefined sweetener like honey or agave that's fine, but they should definitely have been listed among the ingredients. Listing certain ingredients and omitting others is misrepresentation and false advertising. read more

Amazing!!! I got the I Watermelon smoothie. It's watermelon juice blended with blueberries and raspberries. The cashier told me I had to pick a sweetener: agave or dates. I totally picked dates and was so glad that they had them as an option!! The smoothie was delicious. It was super sweet and refreshing. I loved the sweet bits of dates in it. The super citrus c is my favorite juice for those days I want to skip caffeine (doesn't happen all that often!) and the Joyful Almond is the most amazing smoothie I have had there. Very rude ignorant staff. Management needs to retrain staff. You cannot tell someone to move so that someone can squeeze in and eat at the window counter. I was there with two of my coworkers from the Riverside around 1:30 pm Tuesday and because a woman didn't know how to ask if she can squeeze in the guy working there screamed out " can you guys move!" It wasn't even polite, no please, nothing. I felt like my money didn't matter there, even though we spent 30$ worth of smoothies. We usually go there every other day. Thank god I stumbled upon JG. My first time here, I mistakenly chose the Acai Bowl w/ Peanut Butter. BIG MISTAKE. The peanut butter overpowers everything. For some reason I went back and tried the Aloha Acai Bowl and fell in love. I now crave the tart pineapple mixed with the sweet acai berry. I recommend foregoing the bee pollen because it sucks. The juices, smoothies and even the acai bowl and vegan donuts are so good. I love the Watermelon Dragon, no sweetener is needed. I love me some Juice Generation, but good lord do they not know their way around an Acai bowl. Long before this was a fad on the east coast, acai bowls were (and still are) a staple of the Southern California diet. In fact one of the things I MOST look forward to during my yearly summer pilgrimage is getting an Acai Bowl at Swami's...and then eating one pretty much every day that I'm there. So imagine my excitement when I found Juice Generation and found that they had Acai bowls, bringing Cali to my door! Unfortunately, every single time I've gotten a bowl here they've been a watery brown mess- way too much non-milk and way too little fruit. The Acai I'm used to is vibrantly fuchsia, blended with mixed berries and only a tad of non-milk, loaded with bee pollen, sliced bananas, granola, coconut etc etc etc etc and firm almost like a sorbet. The Juice Generation acai bowls toss on a few banana slices and a dusting of coconut flakes you'll never see because they're immediately absorbed in all the non-milk and then happily charge you $10. I seriously find these bowls so disappointing I'm lowering my review by a whole star.
