I had time to kill before my flight out of Dallas, so I decided to stop by Flying Horse Cafe for…read morecoffee and breakfast. I saw the cafe the night before while walking around AT&T Discovery District, which left an impression on me. I arrived at Flying Horse Cafe around 8:30am. Busy Wednesday morning, but nothing out of ordinary from a work day. Looked like other travelers with their luggage in tote had the same idea as me. Understandably so since the cafe is right next to the Magnolia Hotel and The Adolphus. Cute and festive cafe with lots of farm. I found their staff members equally delightful. Admittedly Flying Horse's case of pastries and baked goods were way more appealing than the ones I've seen at other local coffee shops and especially Starbucks. What attracted me the most was their breakfast taco menu. I ordered a small iced white mocha, a turkey sausage breakfast taco, and a spinach taco. Absolutely loved the white mocha. You know the lovely leftover milk after eating some type of sweet cereal? That's what my white mocha reminded me of, which put me in some type of nostalgic feels. Devoured the turkey sausage breakfast taco, which by the way was not really a taco. It's wrapped up more securely like a mini burrito. Not mad that it wasn't open faced like taco at all. The "taco" had the perfect balance of flavor and texture from the cheese, egg, turkey sausage, and spinach. Appreciated that it came with a little cup of salsa, which made it even better. One taco was pretty filling for me, so I saved my spinach taco for my plane ride home. Looking forward to coming back to Flying Horse cafe next time I'm in town.

Coffee Break: The cafe sits at the corner of the Magnolia hotel. Attracting hotel attendees,…read morelocals, business folks and Dallas visitors, this shops offers more that the chains: specialty smoothies, variety of teas, fresh juices, fresh baked goods, breakfast sandwiches and grab and go options. My go-to is the Breakfast buzz - a calorie packed protein drink with a mocha and PB blend - I've ordered these at breakfast and at lunch. The folks behind the counter are nothing but nice so it's good that visitors get a taste of TX hospitality. Coffee is good too and the blueberry muffin is not too sweet but full of berries. Seating includes a large table, some soft seating and several two top tables around the shop. Outside seating is available which is good for folks with four-legged friends. BTW - If you miss the hours at this shop, they you can get similar items at the Two Wings Coffee in the Exchange Food Hall across the street.
