I've been letting this review simmer for a while to see if the repair work I did was better than the repair work they offered me here. I went because I didn't know Forsure what was wrong with my car, I was right and turns out it was just the transmission motor mounts and a thread where a screw was going was slightly broken. They tried to get me for 8,000$ saying I had to replace the whole transmission and motor mounts and I had to pay a core charge apparently. When I could've just easily repaired the thread. So that's what I did. I went a couple of months ago and I wanted to see if they were just trying to jip me and they were. Never ever ever EVER coming here. They really tried to make the most out of my car. Such a disgrace in the repair world but another classic example of shady mechanics not wanted to repair and just replace. OH and they still charged me 150$ to diagnose. Then the mechanic pitched me his old ah cars he fixed up that are older than me lol. Took me less than 500$ to repair myself including tools and parts. My car is still running well. Better than before I took it in, the only thing I will say that helped is they guaranteed my assumptions on my car. Don't let Scott Kulbeck treat you like crap because he's the only mechanic left who works on first gen Honda Insights. He decided to "fire" me as customer, without so much as a text, or a face-to-face conversation. I've been a Jue Motors customer since early 2020, for four years. $7,170.58 and then some in repairs, and every. Single. Time. Scott has been rude to me. I don't know how someone with no people skills can still have this job--oh yeah, it's because he's the only guy left who works on Gen 1 Insights, and you just kinda have to put up with his awful attitude like I did. April 12th, 2024: The shop was happy to take $400 for a job Scott took a MONTH to complete, with poor text correspondence (I had to message him numerous times, and he wouldn't respond). And the job itself was sloppy. He was happy to take my money and my business, for a sloppy job that took a Month with poor communication. Scott upsold me on a hybrid "Bumblebee" battery for my insight, with a 5-year warrantee, for a total of $2725. We're about two years into that warrantee, and I *still haven't received my paperwork for the warrantee,* despite asking Scott for it, despite the IMA light coming on, despite needing a grid charge on the battery. These are just two things about why I think Scott Kulbeck is acting extremely unprofessional. This doesn't include every time I've come in where he was being snarky toward me. Despite everything, as a gesture of good faith and thanks, I ordered special bolster mesh and some aquamarine blue spacer mesh from China for Scott, because I wanted to help him reproduce discontinued seat covers for his rare Aquamarine Insight. I brought the fabric FOR him on the day he "fired" me. And since this grown man never thought to give me a heads up that he was "firing" me as a customer, I was walking OUTSIDE his garage to try and get his attention. And mind you, at this point, I had no idea there was a problem, because he never said anything to me. Instead, Scott sees me, and in his typical rude fashion, he told me "stop snooping around and get out of my garage." AND MIND YOU, he had a CUSTOMER, INSIDE the garage with him, working on parts with him. Apparently they were working out some kind of exchange, where the CUSTOMER was doing labor in exchange for other services. Either way, I'm pretty sure that's against common business practices. Also my point is, Scott tried to shame me for standing outside of his garage, with gifts I had for HIM, when he literally had another customer inside the garage with him; a customer who was NOT an employee. Not only was Scott being rude, unprofessional, and immature, but he was clearly discriminating against. Also, for context, I believe Scott decided to "fire" me because of my text message to him when he finished the job for the roof moldings. After he took a month on them, with poor correspondence, he told me they were ready. He said "I need you to come get your parts. I can wait, but was expecting you two days ago." My response was this: "I'll do better about updating you. But keep in mind that I've been patient for the month you guys have had the roof mouldings." Here I was implying that he didn't need to be pushy about me having to go pick up the parts (since I couldn't because my car was IN a body shop at the time). He had my parts for a MONTH! To be perfectly honest, I just think Scott didn't like being called out, especially by a guy half his age. Jimmy, if you're reading this, Scott is holding you back and isn't even around the shop these days anyway. You know as much as he does and can easily take the torch. I think a lot of us would much rather work with you anyway, and not Scott. All in all, Scott's antics are unacceptable. Nobody in his position should be treating his customers the way he's treated me. Avoid Scott Kulbeck at all costs. read more

I planned on leaving a 1 star review for the horrible attitude Jimmy had with me. However, I was taught a lesson. I found myself unable to pay for the almost 4K repair bill for my car. My car sat there for 3 months. I finally got the money together and went to pick up my car. Storage fees were crazy at $55 dollars a day but he gave me a huge discount. My car would not start and I went into AAA's website and found Jue Motors was one of their Certified Mechanics. It was close to my house so I called and let Jimmy know I would be towing my car there. I told him I really needed my car that day for work. Jimmy said he would call me once he found out what was wrong. After a couple of hours Jimmy called and said it was my starter. I've been driving all the way out from NorthEast Los Angeles to have them take care of my Honda Insight and I would drive a lot further, frankly, if I had to. They can handle any vehicle, but Scott's vast expertise with and knowledge of the Insight is a godsend and probably one of a kind. Service is always top-notch, professional and fairly-priced. I brought my 2014 Prius to Jue Motors cause I had a dead short somewhere in my car. Is he the most inexpensive? Probably not. But the service I received was excellent and well worth the price. Jimmy and his crew found the dead short real quick and did the repair real fast. He then went over every detail of the repair and how it works with my car. He even took time to educate me on a lot of my car's features and how to properly drive it, since this was my first Prius. He even checked my squeaky front brakes, which I was convinced needed changing. I was ready to fork out more money but Jimmy said no need, you just have some brake dust causing the squeaking. I was treated with the utmost respect through both the inspection and subsequent 60,000 mile service. I am in the habit of keeping vehicles for several years at a time. In order to do so, I must retain the services of a competent mechanic who not only takes the time to explain the repairs and upkeep of the vehicle, but appreciates building healthy business relationships that might last for long periods of time. I stopped by here on a Saturday morning about 2 weeks ago to try to get a price quote matched from an Infiniti dealer. Spoke to Jimmy, who seemed nice, and he took a look at my car and gave me feedback on the areas needed to be repaired. My biggest problem with Jimmy is the unresponsiveness to follow back up with me with the price quote I requested. He took down my name, number, and address and told me that he would get back to me on Monday. I called him on Monday afternoon asking if the price quote was ready, but Jimmy said he was very busy, he still had to research it, and that he would get back to me either later today or Tuesday. No phone call back on Tuesday. I decided to call again Wednesday to see if there was any progress. This time, Jimmy mentioned that he was taking a car to the wash and would get back to me when he got back into the office. No phone call back again. It's annoying that he never calls me back because I actually wanted to give him my business. If he didn't want to repair my car, he should just tell me straight up "no" instead of making excuses each time I try to call. Unprofessional. read more

Jimmy, the proprietor is a very honest person. He has been my auto mechanic for over 10 years. I followed him when he moved to the current location in West Covina. It is very hard to find a good and honest mechanic. We all know that but being a woman, it is especial important. My profession requires that I drive a lot and I don't trust my car to anyone else. The last time I had another mechanic fixed my car (over 10 years ago), it broke down in the middle of the freeway. After that incident, a friend referred me to Jimmy. Since then I have being a loyal customer. Needless to say, that kind of incident has never happened since because Jimmy checks my car every two months when he does the oil change. He reminds me when I need to have tune ups. Like I said, I drive a lot. Jue Motor is HIGHLY recommended to all. Try for yourself and see. My review might not be fair since it was just "consultation" about my wife's car. The old Nissan Altima (2005) wouldn't start the night before. The car was left in the West Covina area. The next morning, I dropped by Jue's shop because I saw decent reviews in Yelp. I gave them the information about the car and symptoms: it would crank but not start, alternator and battery were less than a month old (repaired at a different shop), dash lights seem strong, jump-starting did not help, etc. They thought it was odd too. I got the vibe these guys were fair and experienced (like the other Yelp reviews here) I went back to the car to get it ready to tow. Good news. (I feel stupid too) The problem was simply no fuel left. Apparently, the wife left it running last night to stay warm. A few weeks back my car broke down, and I needed to tow it to the nearest AAA approved mechanic shop, which happened to be Jue Motors. The best part about working with them is they were very accessible. I must have called Jimmy so many times because at one point he knew it was me calling (this was the first time I had ever had a car break down on me, I was very anxious). Regardless of how many times I called, he always picked up and was very friendly and helpful. He walked me through everything my car apparently needed, and sent me a very detailed invoice before moving forward (something I greatly appreciated). It definitely helped to establish trust, especially when mechanic shops have a reputation for dishonesty. Additionally, he had replaced the battery and when it ultimately turned out that it wasn't the main issue, offered to put back my old battery right away and reverse the charges. Lastly they were very understanding and worked with me when I needed to tow my car a second time. They let me keep my car at their shop for several days while I figured everything out. After experiencing the nightmare of being a single petite female with a flat on the freeway that destroyed the tire, AAA came out and had to tow me to a repair shop. Their recommended closet AAA contracted facility was JUE motors in Covina. I crossed me fingers and hoped that all would go well. I was towed by AAA and met owner Jimmy. With my situation, I expected a long and tedious day. But JUE Motors far exceeded my expectations. With his connections he was able to find my special order tire immediately and ever had it picked up and delivered, ready for installation at the shop! And the pricing was even better than all the other tire shops that I have been to! Whenever I need tires, this is my go to place! I had an accident in my 2000 Honda Insight and was relieved to find out that one of the main contributors to the website/forum "insightcentral.net" Scott is located in Southern California. It is a lot easier to trust a mechanic when it is readily apparent that they are freely willing to share their extensive knowledge about a vehicle with the community. I dropped my car off and Scott was able to replace the shattered quarter panel, and re-attach the bumper and also was able to find ways to cut costs on some repairs so that other issues with the car could be addressed without going over the insurance estimated cost. The level of service and quality of work is unparalleled. There are corners he could have easily cut, but he did a 100% outstanding job on the repair. He welded broken plastic pieces, replaced missing screws/fasteners... lots of things that you wouldn't notice were missing but because he took the time to do the job right I feel like I am driving a new car. Check engine light came on so I dropped my car off in the morning. I immediately got a good vibe and feeling from Jimmy. Dropping off a car as a woman, you always have to be wary but I felt comfortable. After a few hours I was phoned to be thoroughly informed that the issue wasn't really gonna effect the way my car runs, but this is the problem and this is why it happened. In my honest opinion, Jue Motors is the highest quality auto care establishment in Southern California. I've been taking my cars to a variety of places over the past decade, but I haven't met anyone who is as trustworthy as Jimmy (the owner of this business). On top of being incredibly honest, his service is efficient. The thing that really amazes me is that he always has your car read AHEAD of the scheduled pick-up time. How often does that happen? I took my car to Jimmy repaired my cars. I had problems with the the repair that he fixed two weeks later .I was having the same problem, again. Hey told me to bring my car back in again. it's an inconvenience I can't keep missing work to bring my car in for repairs he should've fixed it the first time correctly and or been honest with me told me he didn't know how to repair my car to take it somewhere else.
