What my dealership couldn't do in past year Eds BMW SERVICE SHOP did! I was frustrated and ready to trade in my 2019 430I. When my car got towed to my home AAA company recommended this shop . They advised to take in , when we called in and spoke with Chris Not only was he convincing but trustworthy. My car was done and ready by end of weekend . Upon picking up my vehicle I met Albert and advised car needed few other things done , which i plan on bringing back . I have found my forever car shop for my BMW. And not to mention very reasonable prices. I was more than satisfied with repairs, price. Thank you Chris and Albert for work and customer service.

UPDATED REVIEW: The DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION error on the BMW returned several times. The first time, I went back and had to pay about $150 for a computer update because I was told it was reading the error wrong after the repair. The second time, they changed out a sensor for free. The third time I went back, I was told it was the oil pump sprocket was leaking oil and causing errors with the timing chain, that my vehicle would not pass the smog check, & that although it holds the timing chain, they had nothing to do with it. They said I should think about trading my car in ASAP unless I wanted to dish out another $1,700 to repair the sprocket. I went home, checked my invoice... & the original invoice for the original repair says "OIL PUMP SPROCKET." At this point, I'm guessing because I'm a young woman going into a car shop alone, they are taking advantage and do not want to go back on their warranty and fix the problem because it is a big job. During the repair, they told me that in order to get the warranty, I had to fix other problems they found on the way & I paid for that. I paid about $5k for the work. It is a good chunk of money for them not to honor their warranty. They supposedly did not change the sprocket, so why is it on my receipt? And if it holds the entire timing chain, why did they not mention it & tell me that needed to be replaced too? At this point, I'm considering reporting them to State of California Bureau of Automotive Repair. ORIGINAL REVIEW: It is always scary trying to find a shop you can trust with your car... I had issues with my BMW for about 6 months & was using a mechanic that was not able to solve the problem time & time again. Finally decided to go to Ed's and was very happy with the service they provided. They are transparent, walked me through everything & recommended services that needed to be done. I trusted them, went ahead & did the repairs & other services. Since picking my car up, its been driving smooth, no engine errors, & I can tell it is back to how its supposed to be driving. I had to take the time to review this place because I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to service their BMW & would come back myself if needed.

My current Mercedes mechanic recommended Ed's BMW for service when I got the BMW from my elderly parent who could no longer drive. Best recommendation ever! Albert is the office manager and he is amazing, helpful, very patient, explains everything in detail, upfront and honest about pricing and mechanical issues, and transparent about when something needs or doesn't need to be done!! I have no complaints at all. It's hard to build trust and find a good and honest mechanic when you're not really familiar with cars and their functioning, so to have found both a trusted AND reliable mechanic who is responsive, thorough, and they stand behind their work, now that's a blessing! The dealership was ripping me off and not completing repairs properly. It's great to support a local small business, and they treat customers like family. So thankful that I found this independent repair shop and have been coming here for the last 4 years, and since day one, literally NO problems whatsoever with the work, the services, nor the staff. I would recommend them a million times more than the dealership, and they have demonstrated a genuine and honest manner of conducting business. I have a 2006 BMW 325i and the dealership kept giving me the disclaimer that since the car is older they "may not be willing to work on it and if they break something they wouldn't be held responsible for it." WTH?! I have never heard anything like that come out of the mouths of anyone at Ed's BMW. They are legit, 100%! John is sweetest guy also.

I've used Ed's BMW service a few times now and I'm very happy with their service and prices. Anthony is always very polite and helpful. He answers all my questions and puts my mind at ease. I highly recommend them for any BMW repair or maintenance. It's the only place I'll have work done on my BMW. Great job. Keep up the great work.

I called over the phone to Ed's Independent BMW Service to inquire about an estimate to replace the lower arm bushings for my X5 since BMW of Monrovia stated it was needed. Anthony scheduled me an appointment to diagnose the bushings. He allowed me to see the area and recommended to change within the year since the bushings were just starting to crack. With COVID and working from home, he gave me that piece of mind as a future repair. I will definitely consider the establishment to BMW owners who are transitioning from dealership to independent services. Thank you Anthony for helping me out.

Our family's Ford Explorer required a water pump replacement…read more I visited several local auto shops to obtain quotes and was shocked, disappointed, and discouraged at the prices I was being quoted for the work my vehicle required ($5,000-$7,500) Shame on me for not reading Yelp reviews before wasting my time visiting other auto shops. I read the many positive reviews for Hye-Tech Auto Repair and decided to visit them. Upon entering, I was greeted by John (owner) with a friendly, "Welcome, how may I help you?" I explained that my Ford Explorer needed a new water pump and a few other items that other auto shops had advised me would require repair or replacement. While John looked up a few items on the computer to provide me with a quote, he introduced me to his son, Harry, who happened to be in the office. Thirty seconds later, John provided a quote that was $3,500-$4,000 less than the other shops. I could not believe it. John explained that he makes his living and succeeds in his business through repeat customers, and he does not believe in gouging customers for every last penny. He also shared that when he retires, his son Harry will take over the business, and he wants to leave Harry with a solid foundation of loyal repeat customers. It was then that I knew I could trust John and his son Harry. John went on to explain that replacing the water pump on a Ford Explorer was a 10-12 hour job, as it was an internal pump requiring numerous engine parts to be removed to reach it. This was the same thing all the other shops advised me. John suggested that I leave my vehicle, and he would perform a full inspection of the engine and contact me before doing anything to it. I agreed and left my vehicle. The following day, I was contacted by John, who advised me that the water pump did indeed need to be replaced, as it was the source of the constant leaks of the water coolant. I left my vehicle in John's shop for three days. During this time, John or his son, Harry, contacted me numerous times to keep me updated on the progress of my vehicle and also to point out that mechanics had discovered two or three very inexpensive items (under $50.00) which they recommended replacing, which I agreed to have done. All in all, I was and am extremely impressed and satisfied with everything about this shop. I spent much less money to have five different issues repaired on my vehicle at Hye-Tech than what I was quoted to replace my water pump alone by every single shop I visited prior to coming to Hye-Tech. John and Harry are very friendly, honest, and trustworthy. They are also very knowledgeable and experienced, and they offer GREAT customer service and communication. This is my new go-to shop for any issues involving our family vehicles. Thank you, Hye-Tech Auto Repair, for a very positive experience.

It's nice to see you can get quotes at the touch of a button on your phone. This morning, I had time off, so I headed in to get my service done. I did not have an appointment and that did not seem to matter. I arrived first thing in the morning at 8 AM and ask if the service could be done. Harry was an exceptional young man, he took me in with no problems, no questions. He said they could do it this morning. I told him I would have to wait. He had no problem with that either. Prior to bring in the car in this morning, as I said, I used a yelp project and had several people reach out and give me quotes. After looking at all the yelp reviews I decided to give this place a try. I am super happy that I did. This place is a hidden gem, excellence, service, quality, and value for what you receive. There are not very many shops where you could feel comfortable and put your trust in them. As I spent time in the lobby, I was able to see customer service on the phone and customer service entering the facility. Every customer that walked in, seem satisfied and was treated with dignity and respect. I highly recommend this place if you have any automotive questions whatsoever.

Brought my car in, went over some paperwork and was told I'd be contacted once the inspection was complete. Sure enough Matt called me to let me know there were some items found during inspection and which ones needed to be addressed right away. After agreeing to the updated quote they got to work. I came back to the shop prior to being told my car was ready, and I think there may have been a delay in getting parts needed (dropped the car off at 9am, wasn't done until 4pm). Other than that, the quoted price is what I paid, there wasn't any pushing to buy a service that wasn't needed. I will definitely be bringing my car back for the additional work needed.

I requested a quote through Yelp and my request was sent to multiple auto shops. I chose this…read morecompany based on location and called ahead to confirm they could do more than just read basic codes. I had already done my own diagnostics and knew the car was running rich. I had ruled out the upstream O2 sensor, catalytic converter (both new), MAP sensor, and fuel injectors. I explained all of this to Matt before bringing the car in. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.
