Disappointing. I brought my 2019 Mini Cooper in because the check engine light came on. The shop worked on it and the light went and stayed off...for 9 days. Brought it back and the shop worked on it again, replacing a couple more parts which were deteriorating. The light went and stayed off...for 2 days. I took the vehicle back to my old mechanic in Pasadena. He fixed the problem and told me that Ed's had missed a couple of things. Evidently they replaced something that didn't need replacing and left a bad part still in the system. WTF? I don't doubt that Ed's was on the right track, but where they fell short was checking all the way through the problem to see where all potential causes could lie. Having to bring a vehicle back to the shop more than once to fix a problem you identified is a huge PITA, not to mention $$$. I'd rather bring the car in once and pay a larger bill rather than several times and feel like I'm being taken. Lesson learned...when you've been receiving good service from a shop for 20 years, you stay with them even if you have to drive miles out of your way. Will NOT bring my cars back to Ed's. read more

I called in 03/26/24 spoke to A the service manager. I explained some issues with my car and I could tell over the phone he was an honest, up front man. Because it's difficult at times as a woman to go find a new car repair shop and to trust. I Took my 2001 BMW in on March 28,2024 to have it looked at & my Headlights & Taillights fixed. I was very happy with the outcome of my experience at Ed's. Pleased that I found this company with such honest employees & mechanics. Great prices! Very nice waiting room & Experienced mechanics or shall I say "Car Specialists" and the waiting room was awesome! What my dealership couldn't do in past year Eds BMW SERVICE SHOP did! I was frustrated and ready to trade in my 2019 430I. When my car got towed to my home AAA company recommended this shop . They advised to take in , when we called in and spoke with Chris Not only was he convincing but trustworthy. My car was done and ready by end of weekend . UPDATED REVIEW: The DRIVETRAIN MALFUNCTION error on the BMW returned several times. The first time, I went back and had to pay about $150 for a computer update because I was told it was reading the error wrong after the repair. The second time, they changed out a sensor for free. The third time I went back, I was told it was the oil pump sprocket was leaking oil and causing errors with the timing chain, that my vehicle would not pass the smog check, & that although it holds the timing chain, they had nothing to do with it. They said I should think about trading my car in ASAP unless I wanted to dish out another $1,700 to repair the sprocket. I went home, checked my invoice... & the original invoice for the original repair says "OIL PUMP SPROCKET." At this point, I'm guessing because I'm a young woman going into a car shop alone, they are taking advantage and do not want to go back on their warranty and fix the problem because it is a big job. During the repair, they told me that in order to get the warranty, I had to fix other problems they found on the way & I paid for that. I paid about $5k for the work. It is a good chunk of money for them not to honor their warranty. They supposedly did not change the sprocket, so why is it on my receipt? And if it holds the entire timing chain, why did they not mention it & tell me that needed to be replaced too? At this point, I'm considering reporting them to State of California Bureau of Automotive Repair. ORIGINAL REVIEW: It is always scary trying to find a shop you can trust with your car... I had issues with my BMW for about 6 months & was using a mechanic that was not able to solve the problem time & time again. Finally decided to go to Ed's and was very happy with the service they provided. They are transparent, walked me through everything & recommended services that needed to be done. I trusted them, went ahead & did the repairs & other services. Since picking my car up, its been driving smooth, no engine errors, & I can tell it is back to how its supposed to be driving. I called over the phone to Ed's Independent BMW Service to inquire about an estimate to replace the lower arm bushings for my X5 since BMW of Monrovia stated it was needed. I was looking for someone locally that could help me restore my 2004 330 BMW convertible. I was the original owner and decided to keep it as a second car. I stopped by Ed's with the car and we talked about what would be involved. I knew it was not going to be an inexpensive endeavor when I started the project, but I had over the years maintained it as needed. Ed not only knew the dealer who sold me the car, he had actually worked as a technician at another dealer and his initial BMW training was done on my version of the 3 series. It was encouraging to know that he was familiar with every component in the car. I left the car with Ed for a couple weeks as it did need quite a few fixes. When I went to pick it up, Ed actually wanted to go with me to some local shops to help me get it re-painted. The car was now running like new. Just starting it up sounded like the whoosh of a high performance car again. I am excited to drive it again. I am so happy I came across Ed. The car is now evolving back into what I envisioned.
