Judy's doughnuts is really a gem of Oakhurst area. I hit up the judes on the weekly. Almost always buying a dozen. I am a big d nut connoisseur and when I moved away from the mountain area for 18 months the first thing I looked up were doughnut places in my new city. There were 11 and none of them lived up to my standards like Judy's. In a small town we are lucky to have such a hardworking family to run this business. I read the first review on here about this donut shop, and I figured I had to see for myself how good it was. I'm a fan of donuts, but I only eat them once in a while because I get tired of eating grease and sugar. Lucky for me, this donut shop has the most non-greasy, flavorful, yummy donuts! I had 1/3 of 3 donuts... The blueberry old-fashioned donut was more tasty than a blueberry muffin. The apple fritter was crispy and soft, not stale or soggy. Finally, the plain chocolate-frosted donut left me wanting more. The texture, flavor, and smaller-than-normal size was perfect! They have coffee, juice, soda, tea, and espresso drinks. Judy's donuts are the bomb. Like seriously Judy makes Dunkin Donuts seem like glazed garbage in comparison. I recommend stopping by early because both times we went, around noon, they were sold out of their more popular donuts. However we still were super happy with the donuts we got and the buttermilk donut renewed my faith in all that is good in life. 3 Stars for the ambiance and small town feel - the donuts are OK I was let down by the fritter, it was too doughy, was missing apple chunks and no veins of cinnamon wonderfulness? What was I eating? It looked like an apple fritter, had the general taste of an apple fritter yet didn't have the goods necessary for a top-notch rating. The only thing that redeemed this place was the buttermilk donut. It was damn good! I'd stop in again if I needed a donut but I'd skip the fritter. Being at the edge of Yosemite park pretty much keeps the customers coming but what was cool was the fact that 8 seniors were sitting there on Sunday morning shooting the shit. This is a gem. The kind of place that is disappearing in today's factory-made world of plastic donuts in plastic boxes.. The baker gets up at 3AM? and makes fresh, hand-crafted donuts every morning. And what wonderful donuts they are. More than donuts, there are ham and cheese croissants and hot dog rolls and more as well for a quick breakfast. There are things called bear paws shaped like a hand with apple filling that are the best example of a bear paw I have ever seen. There are crunchy apple fritters that are bigger than your fist that are delicious. Folk of the lesser appetite may have to share one with a partner. Not me, I'm eating it all. I put them in the oven at home and they melt in the mouth with crunchy appley goodness. I like to buy the varieties without frosting to avoid the guilt of too much sugar and the buttermilk, old fashioned, and fried old-timey nutmeggy donut-donuts without frosting or glaze are a reward in theirselves. And then you have a chocolate frosted and a coconut frosted because the devil makes you. There are things that look like burritos that are like crispy crepes rolled up with cream cheese inside that are another sinful morning meal. Looking at the variety is like being a kid in a candy shop. And it's all served by smiling, gracious ladies who act genuinely pleased that you chose to come to their business for your donut needs. My husband LOVES donuts and while he will eat and think many donuts are OK, I have decided to eat only those that are really good or exceptional (don't want calories that aren't really worth it) - so have thrown many donuts away after the first bite or so. This is really saying something, as I am also VERY frugal and don't throw things away, but . . . I am not going to eat a donut that isn't really good! As we were getting gas, I saw Judy's Donuts. So . . .after filling up we buzzed on over. It was about 11:15 AM. There was a very nice selection of different donuts, cake and glazed, fritters, bear claws, etc. A very, very pleasant lady came from the back and greeted us. She was very patient and gracious while we made our selections. We chose to eat on-site; there are places for about 12 guests. We also had a cup of coffee, which was very good - and we were offered half-and-half from the refrigerator!! My husband and I both really enjoyed our donuts. We had an apple fritter which was very good and also a buttermilk bar. We will be back - and it's rare for us to find a donut place we like enough to return to.
