I booked a car from Discover cars with Jucy car rental. I returned the sedan car at the Jucy Brisbane location. I was met with a representative who initially said that they'd do the audit later. I insisted she does the return audit now and she complied with some pushback. I was trying not to get into a situation of what I am now facing. At the end, she explicitly told me there were no additional fees to be expected.  I get an email an hour later with 3 images stating my car does not comply with their 17C clause (that the vehicle is not clean or tidy) and will be charging me $99 Aud. The photos consists of napkins on the seats and one plastic bag on the floor.  If I had been told that the vehicle was not returned to a satisfactory condition, I would have done what was necessary to remedy the situation.  I relied on their agent's word and feel that she lied/misled me about no additional fees. I booked a rental car in July 2019. I had arrived in Brisbane from Sydney and LAX. The pick-up van was really late. When I pointed this out to manager (he is white and wears shorts to work) he made racial slurs against me. So did his attending clerks. Not only did he cancel my booking and refused to rent me a car he did not even drop me back to airport but made me take a taxi costing AUD 30 to Brisbane airport. He said I could sit there till I die and he would not rent me a car. read more

OK - so I'm writing this review as a Canadian who rented in Australia. I picked up the car in Brisbane and took it through Gold Coast, Sydney, and dropped off in Melbourne. I'm writing this because I saw a lot of concerning reviews on here when I was looking to rent a car for my trip and a lot of them had me second-guessing the rental. Thoughts: - Customer service was fantastic. I landed at Brisbane airport and called the Brisbane branch using a payphone. They said the shuttle would be there in 15 minutes and it was. The driver was friendly and helped us with our bags. When we got to the branch, our car was ready to go and we were in and out in 15 minutes. - We picked a Toyota Corolla sedan, which I would estimate was probably 5 years old - with 136,000KM on it. The car was clean, in relatively good condition and I didn't experience any mechanical problems with it during the trip (more below). It had Bluetooth and I was able to play music and directions from Google Maps through the sound system easily. I could also switch songs from the console (which you don't find on a lot of older cars, and are necessary for a road trip lol). The trunk fit our two 24' suitcases and two backpacks no problem (keep in mind it's the Sedan). - Now, in reading the reviews - a lot of people complain about the condition and mileage of the cars. Respectfully - you get what you pay for. Did it have all the latest features and gadgets? No. Was it brand new off the lot? No. Was it possibly the blandest car I've ever driven? Oh yes! But - hey - that is why I paid half of what I would have at the larger companies. - While we were driving somewhere between Coff's Harbour and Sydney - we heard a loud scraping sound from the front passenger side. We stopped the car and noticed that part of the plastic under-carriage was scraping the tire. It looked like a previously damaged part of the undercarriage was loose. I tucked it back under and drove for a little bit and it seemed fine. I called JUCY and told them about it and they asked me to bring it into the Sydney branch to have it looked it. When I got to Sydney, I took it into the branch. They were super friendly and the mechanics took a look at it right away. I think they put some screws into it and I didn't have any further issues on the trip. At no point did anyone accuse me of damaging the car (which I totally didn't), give me any issues about it or try to charge me for it. - We returned the car at the Melbourne branch and - again - the customer service was great. We dropped off the car and were in a shuttle to the airport within 5 minutes (maybe not realistic all the time). All in all - bang for buck - I would definitely recommend JUCY and would rent from them in the future. Again - keep in mind the cars that you get may be older models with high mileage on them - but - like anything else in life - you get what you pay for. P.S. I rented through RentalCars.com and I took the insurance that they offer for Australia. When I got to JUCY they asked if I had taken the insurance and I confirmed and the lady was nice enough to actually explain it to me and what it covers. She didn't try to upsell me any of JUCY's insurance or otherwise try to trick me. read more

STAY AWAY FROM JUCY!!! Where do I start? The van drove poorly, the refrigerator rarely worked, the radio had missing buttons, all of the speakers were blown, the USB to the TV was broken preventing being able to play Videos through it. Four day's before we were suppose to return it we called to see if we could rent it for an extra day, returning it on a Monday instead of a Sunday. They said NO, because it was already reserved ( I feel sorry for whoever got it after us), however when I returned it and mentioned this to the person working at the office he told me " that's strange, were actually over stocked here right now", yes, their customer service sucks. Also, the drivers side chair stopped moving forward on the 3rd day into our trip which prevented us from being able to put the bed down behind it ( kind of the whole point of a camper van ). We called to see if we could get the chair fixed and they said their nearest office wasn't near and that they wouldn't be able to send someone to get it fixed until the next day or we could drive to a closer location to one of their offices. But, since they didn't let us extend our rental we didn't have time to wait, so we rented a motel room our final 2 nights. Oh yeah, they used scare tactics on ya to get you to buy more and more insurance, by the time I got screwed with all of the hidden fees I paid about $400 - $500 more than what I was originally quoted. BEWARE RENTING FROM THIS COMPANY! Check EVERYTHING out before renting. Our campervan had mechanical problems from the start. The wiring had been messed with and the check engine light that was on was hidden by a sticker that was deliberately placed over it! The camper would run okay for the first 15 minutes to 1 hour or so after starting it up. Then the check engine light would come on, and we felt like the engine lost power, and could barely go up hills, or start up from a stoplight. It even quit entirely when going up a windy hill twice, and left us stranded, unable to pull over off the road - totally dangerous since it was rainy and dark! It took going to four separate mechanics to finally get this issue solved - valuable time taken out of our vacation hassling with a mechanically deficient automobile!! The GPS we had paid extra to rent from them had a melted plug, so it couldn't charge. JUCY authorized us to buy another one, but there went one more trip to a town to replace the GPS - instead of enjoying our vacation!!! Besides that, the wooden board that was supposed to fit in the center to make the bed into a double bed was cut too narrow, so, in the middle of the night, if you shifted slightly, the board would collapse! Needless to say, we didn't get a very good night's sleep in this thing! Other issues - There was only one steak knife which was broken, the glove box door was ripped off, the inside of the dash was peeling and even had duct tape on it to repair it. Basically, it was a piece of trash! Oh - one more thing - There are no window screens on these vans, so when you drive to the rainforest (up near Cairns), you will either have to keep the windows closed (hot and stuffy), or risk getting eaten by mosquitos (Zika/malaria?!) We covered our windows with extra shirts and put towels in the doors, to have just a little air. I have done a lot of camping in the past, but I must say, due to JUCY, this was the WORST experience ever! Instead of having an exciting Australian adventure, we discovered new ways every day that JUCY had been negligent. We got a 4 day refund when we returned it and let them know what had happened. This was really not enough compensation for stressing us out and ruining our vacation. They deliberately checked out a broken vehicle to us, which should be illegal! read more

I've never experienced such bad customer service from a rental company. Our travel agent booked the car for us. She booked a day before we needed the vehicle called them immediately and they wouldn't refund the one day, even though it was a week in advance. Second, we called to get a shuttle from the airport to their location, this took over thirty minutes when we were told fifteen minutes. When we got to the location we asked about being charged for the extra day they said it was because they had to hold the vehicle for us for that 24 hours, yet getting our vehicle took over two hours, it had to be cleaned. Weird considering they "had to hold it for 24 hours." Also weird that they had to hold it considering they had a note on our car saying we didn't need it until a day later. When returning the car the charged us to take us to the airport even though we were told transportation to and from was free. When we asked to speak to the manager they said there wasn't one. All I have to say is book with budget rental car. read more
