I found this place a couple of years back and recently went to try it again after not having it for a while. I am pleased to say it is just as good as I had remembered it being. The employees here are some of the kindest you will meet at any establishment and the food is even better. The aroma of just pure delicious flavor hits you the second you walk through the door, and just prepares you for what's to come. You cannot go wrong ordering anything on this menu as it is all fantastic and cooked from scratch. My personal favorite is the beef suqaar which is just an amalgamation of flavors that all work perfectly together, and the injera is the vessel that lets you eat it all. I also like to get a sambusa on the side as a little appetizer along with a mandasi which is like an African doughnut for dessert. Omg! What can I say?! I am so glad we tried this place. Came here last night with the intention of having a nice dine in meal. When we got there, I saw that they were still just doing take-out. That was almost a deal breaker for me, because after a whole week of meal prepping I wanted to sit and dine-in the restaurant with the BF. I looked around outside of the restaurant and noticed it was by a train station, so I thought, we'll just have to eat it on a bench at the train station. Lol. The food! Just exploded with flavor! Ordered 2 sambusas, chicken saquaar and the BF had the Jubba Chicken Wrap. We were just really impressed with how delicious their food was. The portions are really big too! In two words: absolutely phenomenal. In more words: We found this place through its high ratings on Yelp and it did not disappoint. When we ordered at the counter, we were told that all beverages are for purchase except for hot tea on the side of the restaurant that is free. We stuck to the tea and OMG, so delicious! It tasted like a slightly sweet chai - very spice-filled and soothing. The only downside is you must serve it into a tiny Dixie cup and so many trips to refill are needed. ;) The food itself was beautifully seasoned and the portions were insane!! We ordered the mandazi and the sambusa to share and they were both amazing. I really liked the mandazi - it has a tomato-like taste to me. Its texture is kind of similar to naan. And the sambusa tasted and looked like samosas. My husband ordered the sports plate and was blown away by how much food was there. I ordered the Jubba chicken wrap and similarly was surprised by the size of my wrap - it was cut in half and each half looked like a full-size wrap!! And then the price - everything is SO reasonable. This is one of my favorite restaurants! I live 25 miles away but would gladly make the drive to come have a meal here. Here are my favorite items to get every time: 1. Beef/goat sports plate with injera, the meat is incredibly flavorful and the injera is a nice balance. You can choose your meat and side which is nice to customize. This portion is good to feed 3 people. Or 2 hungry people. 2. Sambusas are made fresh so they come to you warm and crispy with a flavorful meat filling. 3. Mandazi: I always order extra to take home and I reheat them in a toaster oven to eat for breakfast. I like how they're not too sweet and very fluffy and light to eat. It's a nice balance to have with the sport plate since that's more on the heavy side. They also have free hot tea which is also a favorite of mine. I'm not sure what exactly it's made of but tastes like some spices and it really warms up your body. I love this place and highly recommend to everyone! read more

my first time having somali food! we came with a friend that knows which dishes to order. and the dishes she ordered was super delicious. we had sambuso. i guess it is kind of like samosa, but this had ground beef, onions, and scallions. it was so good. and that green sauce, spicy but delicious! my friend recommended trying the rice, pasta, and chappati, and injera. we ended up getting chicken and beef with all of those. the chicken and beef were full of flavor. it didn't taste dry at all and goes well with the rice, chappati, and injera. the spaghetti was ok. i would probably stick with the bread options next time. basically, you order at the register then you pick your seats. and they bring the food. we came around 4pm, but by 530pm, the dining area was def getting crowded. i love trying new dishes and so glad i got to try this place. i will def come back and try other stuff from the menu! read more

Yummm the beef was better than the goat because the goat had so much bones, but we asked for extra veggies and got them! They cooked it fresh and it took like 25-30 minutes for 2 entrees but it was really yummy! It was empty in there for dinnertime but they had a lot of takeout orders. Finally did. You know how you see pics of the restaurants food and you think it must've been staged? Well here, every darn plate I saw looked amazing and folks were taking pics of their food like crazy! I had Chicken Suqaar with rice. Absolutely delicious. The food smacks so hard. I love how they add a good amount of veggies to each dish but there is still a good amount of meat too if you order meat. Portions are huge. It was love at first bite - I get cravings for this place. It's half an hour away and the wait is usually at least half an hour (I always go during dinner time) but it's worth it. My favorite is chicken suqaar with chapati, or just the chicken wrap (basically same thing). I also love their rice, spaghetti, fish and beef. Their sambusas are phenomenal as well. The staff is always really nice to me, even when I'm waiting for the food with my daughter they are extra nice to her too. I'm not gonna lie, they can get really busy and the wait can be close to an hour if your get caught in the storm. Still worth the wait for me, the flavors are so unique and you can't find anything like it around here. There's something for everyone, whether youre vegan or the meatiest eater. All food is made to order, so they can get backed up with a wait, but it's worth the wait. When you make the drive up here, it's gonna be confusing. You'll go through residential areas and will probably park at a light rail station. But once you get inside, you'll probably find yourself back here sooner than later. Specializing in Somali food, Jubba is absolutely delicious. When you go in, you order, and you don't pay until you leave. Weird concept, but if you're a lover of immense flavor, once you clean your plate, you'll probably wanna pay them double for what you just inhaled. My recommendations are the goat cutlet and the sport plate. My last visit was during the Lenten season, and I had given up rice and meat, so the Tilapia plate with noodles (which was really just spaghetti) was just SCRUMPTIOUS. I've never had goat that wasn't Filipino-made before and let me tell you, this was damn near life changing. When my parents make it there's bones all over the place and that sort of tarnishes the experience of eating an otherwise delicious meat. At Jubba, the bones in the goat are big and completely avoidable. Big bites. Big flavor. Yum! Jubba is also doing takeout orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Chiming in on Jubba. First off, do NOT eat the green sauce unless you know you can take the intense heat. I'm pretty good with spice, but literally a tiny drop, burned my tongue for a minute. The burn isn't worth its so-so flavor. It was my first time here, so I got the Sports Plate with chicken and beef, but the stars of the dish were the basmati rice and flatbread (both excellent!). Then out of nowhere comes the white salad dressing on a simple scoop of lettuce. We also ordered the sambosa, which had great meaty flavor and an appropriate kick of spice. Ask for a couple sides of that white salad dressing though to drizzle on the sambosa. That legitimately can rival the halal guys white sauce. read more

Absolutely delicious!! It was my first time trying this place. For the #YelpNightIn (I got this in the afternoon though), I decided to try Somali food. I had also seen this place on "Check Please, Bay Area" and was excited to try! So I got mandasi, and sambusso along with my beef suqaar. This came with chapatti and salad. The beef was cooked so well and so flavorful with the onions, peppers and tomatoes. This is SPICY. I really liked using the chapatti to dip in the meat and consume this glory goodness. The salad was nice to accompany the spiciness of the meal. The green sauce? Wow! Soooo good. I loved the mandasi too. It was slightly sweet and it's a fried dough. Lastly, the sabusso has a mix of spices--I could taste some cumin and cardamon. I loved this whole dish. I would definitely come back here and get more food. Great choice! read more

Jubba wubba dooooooo! This is so gooooood! Why didn't I discover this place sooner?! I was always taking the VTA light rail to Oakridge mall or to my friends house as a teen, but I never noticed Jubba's Restaurant until my partner requested we try it out yesterday! We had a difficult time finding a place to eat yesterday and decided to try something new. 10/10 would recommend! We showed up to Jubba's 15 minutes before their dinner rush (yahooo because I hate lines when I'm hangry lol) and got the most recommended dish they have to offer--their sports platter dish which is noted to serve 2 people. I don't know how big or small the plate used to be, but the sports platter was WAAAAAY too much for my partner and I to finish! We ate until our bellies wanted to burst from the seams of our pants lol. Next time, we are definitely going to bring another friend or two to help us finish the sports platter! Either way, the dish itself was absolutely delicious! Sitting on a pillowy hearty serving of basmati rice, we were given two generous portions of protein--one being goat and the other being beef! Don't fret though, there was also a nice serving of stir fried onions, bell peppers, water chestnuts (I think), carrots, and tomatoes! YUM. I also liked the side of salad to enjoy with the rice and proteins too! This almost felt like a deconstructed burrito, but minus the tortilla wraps. I did read somewhere that they do offer naan/burrito like wraps to accompany with the platters, so maybe? I hope to come back and try more of their flavorful dishes! We also ordered their fried goodies! I can't remember the name for one, but the sambosas were da bomb dot com!! Holy wow! Be prepared to wait ~5'ish minutes to order/sit down and another 25-30 minutes to get your food. It is located right next to the city-train station so it may be a little difficult to find / park. Everything we ordered was delicious (as always) and the portions were more than enough to have not only seconds but also pack a portion for later. They also have this amazing ginger-honey flavor kava on the house which is always hot and ready for their customers! My favorite part is that it's Halal!! My husband and I tried out this restaurant a few days ago. We live close by and have always wanted to try it out. We went on a Friday evening and it was pretty busy. When we got to the front of the line, we placed our order but had a couple of questions regarding the menu. The women who was ringing up our order seemed to be impatient and annoyed with our questions and wasn't too friendly. We ordered the chicken suqaar and beef sambusa. It literally took about 40 minutes for our order (dining in) and they forgot to give us the beef sambusa. We were happy with our choices but the chicken suqaar was a little on the salty side. Overall, the food is great but I just wish the customer service was better, so points off for that. read more
