I first called non stop for 5 days just to get a live person to make an appointment. Then when I did get a person it was the exchange. I was told they had already scheduled me but didn't inform me. So doubtfully I went but had to stand outside in the rain, because they close & lock door for lunch. Then when seen doctor wasn't even there just Nursing Assistant. I spent maybe 7 minutes with N.A. explaining problems and N.A. said for me to maybe try a medication for something else and scheduled me for an endoscopy 4 months later. My experience at that office was a real live experience. During such a dark period in my life full of pain and questions, this doctor refused to help me. 5 stars for Dr. Canale, he's great. Very caring and attentive and I really felt like he's trying his very best to help me while I wait for my appointment at UCSF. My low rating is for the scheduling! It's nuts! I've had two appointments so far that the staff has scheduled on my behalf and then not bothered to inform me about until I get a confirmation call the day before. Both times I've told them I had no idea the appointment had been scheduled for me and the time they had me down for doesn't work with my schedule. Both times the girl that was confirming the appointment was able to give me a different appointment time, but then when I show up at the time, it was never changed after all! And the times I have actually scheduled appointments myself, they give me a time I'm happy with but then apparently change it to whatever they feel like and again, don't tell me they've changed it. If Dr Canale had a different scheduling staff, he'd have a 5 star practice for sure read more

Staff is extremely Rude! Very hard to communicate with! I really want nothing to do with this people or the so called Doctor I had been referred to him by my regular Doctor but I've seen many weird things including extremely bad and poorly communication and rudeness and that freaked me out a lot and I am NOT trusting this Doctor Canali my Life. Just to explain a little bit more They scheduled me an Appointment with Canali which I missed the first time they never responded to my callas my appointment or never sent the medication two days before and never called me as of a reminder of my upcoming appointment they never sent the medication I've tried and tried and even had my regular Clinic staff tried to communicate with them with of curse NO success even my doctor couldn't get a hold of them. So after almost a year they scheduled me again with this same ridiculous doctor Canali for my Cronic constipation and for second time same ridiculous thing they never called me and they claim they sent me the medication needed before my procedure since March and that they told me about! Crazy carless staff that is a complete LIE I have never even been able to communicate with them except that one time when mu Doctor staff was finally able to het a hold of them after days and days of continually trying. And that's how finally the miracle of them calling me back happened. Besides they must think I'm stupid or something they claim they sent the medication to Rite Aid pharmacy BIGGEST LIE EVER!! Rite Aid always calls when medication is ready to pick up but they never did! Which obviously they never sent Anything to the pharmacy!!! I'm so disappointed with the office staff. The Dr is a 5. My dad was told he would be scheduled for an appointment in Standford. A couple months went by and still no call, no appointment. The scheduling staff is very rude and don't care or understand the gravity of being diagnosed with cancer. I read the comments and agree the staff is not professional at all. My sister ended up doing their work for them and found another doctor to do the procedure. The appointment was done within a week with Dr. Wong in Turlock. Awful doctor and staff. So unprofessional and does not care about their patience. They seem to only care about money and getting more and more out of our pockets. And when I wanted my results they needed to see me so i could spend more money instead of just saying the results over the phone. went in for a consultation in February 2023, receive instructions with appt date and was scheduled for colonoscopy do to bleeding, which is emergent itself, 2 months later (because that's what was available) I starve myself for 2 days as part of prep, miss a day of work, arrange transportation(waste their time as well) and waste 30$ on my prescriptions because on the day of my appt at Turlock surgery center, they advise me no paperwork was ever sent over from Dr Canales office or prior authorization from my insurance. i trusted dr Canales office despite bad reviews and they proved all bad reviews correct. Dr was nice but staff is untrained and really don't care About you. Receptionist mentioned no appt was placed based on her computer, although I called one week before asking about my prescription, & had my paperwork with instructions and appt date, no problem was caught. Receptionist said there was nothing that could be done for me because their scheduler Mayra is responsible for appts and was out for the day. I had an appointment were I saw Dr. Canale, and he was very informative about the procedure I needed (gastroendoscopy). He told me that, based on my BMI(64%) I wouldn't be able to be seen at Emmanuel Hospital in Turlock, but that Doctors Medical Center in Modesto or Stanford Hospital would be where my procedure would be scheduled. Since the day I saw Dr Canale was late on Friday evening, I was told I would get a call back the following Monday, to give me my scheduled appointment for the procedure. But I didn't get a call back until Tuesday, only to be told by the office person that I was scheduled at Emmanuel Hospital, and I tried telling her what Dr Canale told me, but she wouldn't listen. I asked her to wait till I talked to the lady who I talked to at the end of my visit to the doctor that did the scheduling. The next day the office person, called me again to say that the doctor had said "that he would not be able to help me and that I needed to be referred to another GI doctor" At which point I got upset and told her that was bullshit...now they won't answer the phone to my surgeons office, so they can send me out to get my procedure done...really bad people in the office...the doctor and the scheduling coordinator I saw on my first visit were awesome but the office people that answer the phone really are rude, and intimidating and need to work on their people skills. read more

First visit went well. Modesto office. Doctor gets 5 's. He is very pleasant. Scheduled for colonoscopy. I did the 2 and a half day prep, and showed up for my procedure and was told it was canceled! Are you kidding me?! I was not happy! Prep for this type of appointment wasn't easy! A regular appointment I wouldn't have been that upset. There was NO COMMUNICATION from his office to the surgery center! Ok so we all know insurance is a bundle of auths and paperwork. His staff never had the procedure correct, that was the first thing, then she never communicated to the surgery center to confirm the colonoscopy! She had me down for endoscopy! Two totally different ends! Right? The surgical center finally heard from her at Dr. Canale's office and finally took me in for the procedure. Awesome Doctor and it went well! Thank goodness! Now I'm scheduled for endoscopy and called to see if there were any cancellations, her (I don't know HER name) customer service is very poor. She didn't even look it up, just said no there aren't..... So I recommend the Doctor and PA but be prepared for some poor communication with phone staff. A few years ago Dr. Canale perform a colonoscopy on my mom, he did that even during weekend time at the local hospital. It sounds like the unhappy patient unfortunately does not know how the system works, if she had wanted records to be there, she will have needed to sign a release at the office where she was seen by the Gastroenterology team so those will have been there. Physicians cannot automatically obtain records. I like the way the office handle the situation in an standard kind manner and even offer the patient to call if there were any further ways in which they would help. I saw doctor canale for a consultation and for the exam, and it was a pleasant experience considering why I was going in. the woman who answered the phone and made me the first appointment was very rude and made me feel dumb, and unimportant, so I had my reservations going in. I had my appointment first thing in the morning the young girl in the front was so warm and nice really made me feel comfortable. The waiting time was long but nothing crazy for a doctors office. Finally the girl who took me back was very friendly and we had a nice chit chat, The physician assistant was very nice she took her time and really explained everything. The secretary was very helpful and got me in sooner, I really appreciated that my needs were met. I went in to have my exam I met the doctor and he prayed with me that almost made me cry to see a doctor care about his patients. I saw him almost a month later for my results and he was very kind. Over all my experience was great im glad I decided to go in even though I was hesitant going in because of my initial impression with the horrid woman, maybe she was having a bad day, unacceptable. But im glad I met the doctor amazing staff, and beautiful office THUMBS UP!!! read more
