Eugene himself is usually behind the bar, with plenty of chat about the history of his pub. We came midweek and had the place pretty much to ourselves. Yes there are tourists, but Ennistymon is largely overlooked by the hoards of people heading for the Cliffs of Moher. It's a place for locals, craic and music. Just spent a rainy, sunny, hailing, windy,balmy afternoon with the finest bartender (Joan) and delicious drinks to warm the soul after the winds of the cliffs nearly swept us off to sea. I first visited in 1994, and though there have been several owners since, it remains a magical place. By the way, Joan got kicked out of her Facebook account, but is wishing all her American friends a very happy Thanksgiving!

I opted for the vegetarian plate but was told the fish I was looking forward to was out so they substituted cod. Mine was okay but very under seasoned. My girls opted for just a plain pasta dish which they liked but it is hard to mess up penne pasta and red sauce. The plating was beautiful but the food didn't live up to the hype. The view was nice as we sat outside but the food was just disappointing for the cost.
