We went because the kids' menu had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on it, which is what my son wanted. When we arrived (early Sunday afternoon) they were serving breakfast only. When I politely asked about getting a sandwich, the server went straight to the kitchen and asked. They accommodated us! There is a medium-sized cheese plant -- Great Lakes Cheese -- just down the street. They used to have a factory store where you could buy direct, but now Freeway Grocery sells it instead. The price is a steal. The 4X Cheddar (the sharpest version they make) goes under the name "Adams Reserve" when sold elsewhere. I've seen little chunks of it for sale in gourmet stores in Boston and NYC for more money than what at Freeway gets you a big brick of no-nonsense, wrapped-in-plastic-wrap, tangy, crumbly deliciousness. Milder versions (3X, 2X, 1X, medium, mild) available too. If you like good cheese, fresh curds, and/or local products, this spot is a great, easy stop off the highway.

The vintage diner feel was cozy, and the Coca-Cola light fixtures were unique. Each table also had its own vintage jukebox. We came on a busy Sunday morning, but got lucky and were sat right away. From the beginning, and throughout our experience, the staff were very friendly. Our sever brought us drinks within minutes, and we were able to put in our orders pretty quick. Like I said, it was a busy Sunday, so it took awhile for us to receive our food. But this gave my wife and I time to talk, and enjoy the ambiance. I ordered the breakfast lasagna (had never seen this before) with white toast and a side of corned beef hash. When the food came out, it was warm and fresh. The breakfast lasagna had a nice flavor from the peppers and onions and meats that were baked inside. The base was made from what seemed like mashed potatoes which threw me off a little, but wasn't bad. The toast had a good toast to it, and was nicely buttered. I am a corned beef hash lover, and Shorty's was pretty good! The flavors meshed well together and the texture was great. My wife ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits which was not great. The sausage gravy was lacking flavor, with the main taste being cream. The sausage within the gravy was cut up sausage links, and for myself and my wife at least, we prefer ground sausage. Lastly, the biscuits were nothing to write home about. They were not bad but they didn't wow. Overall, I gave Shorty's a three because the food didn't wow me. There was not anything wrong with the food we had at all, and we will probably be back in the future to try some of their other food. Otherwise, my wife and I also loved the feel of the diner itself.

This is my experience as an AuDHD adult, male-presenting person…read more I went to Déjà Brew and was greeted with smiles. Three people were prepping early in the morning--maybe around 8:30 or 9:00. The whole place had a warm, easygoing vibe. I ordered a Soul Shine smoothie and a BLT for later, with romaine substituted and garlic & herb sourdough, a Texas-toast-style bread. They called it sourdough, and maybe it was--but just a heads-up, it's on the denser side. I liked it, though! The interaction was great. They answered all my questions, and when I asked if I needed to make a purchase to use the WiFi, they said no--it was freely given. That small kindness already made me feel welcome. I took my time sipping my smoothie while researching what's next. When I was ready for my sandwich a couple of hours later, I let them know, then stepped outside for some air while they made it. When I came back, I found they had brought it right to my spot. That small, thoughtful gesture really stuck with me. The sandwich looked fantastic, and to my surprise, it came with a few thick-cut pickle chips--definitely dill, and so good. The BLT itself? Also solid. Big slices of tomato (which, honestly, I don't usually go for, but it's a BLT, so I rolled with it). The mayo--or maybe aioli?--was incredible, the kind that makes your mouth water. The romaine was fresh and crisp, and the bacon was good--though I wouldn't have minded another slice or two. When they brought it over, they reminded me that chips were included. I checked out the options and saw some good flavors, but I was craving something a little more nutrient-dense. I asked if they offered fruit with the meal, and they kindly offered me a banana. It seemed like something they don't normally do, but they were happy to accommodate, which I really appreciated. The total came to $21.60 after taxes, and honestly? Worth it. I spent five hours here, enjoying the space, the welcoming atmosphere, and the heater they had running on this cold April day. The kindness, the food, and the comfort made it an easy place to settle in for a while. 10/10, would recommend to a friend.
