J.R. Perkins came out to run a test on our AC unit and give us a quote. Apparently, my husband asked too many questions and upset the technician and General Manager. We got a quote emailed to us and in the heading under our name they wrote, "guy is a jerk". It is so unprofessional that they label their customers- wow! And I am pretty sure that all my husband did was ask a bunch of questions. I guess you are not allowed to ask questions about the service, products, and cost. You are supposed to be a good customer and be silent, just make sure you pay them $5,000. I wish I could post a picture of the official letter with his labeling, maybe I will try under the profile. We actually have an older home with four separate A/C units given additions. We tried to work through our home warranty company, Fidelity, and finally gave up. This company has replaced two of our HVAC systems with professionalism and follow-up calls. We added the home air purification system to our units and I will share that my eyes feel much better--I was putting drops in my eyes all the time and it has completely stopped. Excellent! We have another older unit and we will use them again when the time comes. Highly recommended! read more

JR Perkins was a lifesaver when my unit went out last summer. After 3 unresolved service calls though my home warranty, including a hotel stay and taking time off work to wait for their "repair" people, I took my uncle's advise and called JR Perkins. They were at my house right away, the next morning I had a big crane delivering a new air conditioning unit. Late summer I called them after a huge storm to check the unit for weather damage, they let me know about a possible problem with my roof which could have turned out to be a big problem. This shows me they really care about their customers. I have kept their warranty service offered on my new unit and they are nothing but professional, courteous, and friendly. Air conditioning service and contact has always been an unfortunate problem for me--false work "required", ridiculously inflated service charges, arrogant and aggressive reps--among other problems. That is until I began to utilize the services of PERKINS. Diametrically opposed to the questionable ethics, charges and dishonest contracts I had experienced, the representatives from PERKINS were friendly, on time, knowledgeable and more than reasonably priced. From telephone/email contact to on site representation, PERKINS' associates took the sting out of air conditioning service. I was confident enough in my four years of my relationship with PERKINS that I enlisted them to install two new units. Once again, the PERKINS experience was smooth and instilled confidence in this buyer, They were on time, installed the units in three hours and explained al the new facets of the system thoroughly. If you want to get ripped off, call JR Perkins. They charge a large service call fee, AND a high installation fee, and don't wrap it into one. Most companies waive the service call fee if you get work done with them. JR Perkins does not, and doesn't tell you that up front either. Most companies perform the same work for about 1/2 as much and don't price gouge. If I could give 1/2 a star, I would. read more

I would NOT refer, use or call this service ever again. It was 118 degrees outside and 95+ degrees inside when our air conditioner stopped working. We scheduled an urgent appointment for 6pm that evening and agreed to pay $120.00 just to look at the unit (we later discovered that other companies were only charging $80-90.00 for the same appearance). So, we waited all day and they NEVER SHOWED. Further, they wouldn't even return our multiple, desperate and sweaty phone calls begging them to simply contact us. Bottom line, if a company is going to charge higher than average prices, the LEAST they could do is treat their customers with courtesy, show up when they say they're going to or, at a bare minimum, call the customer back!!! After we waited all day wasting our time, we finally got the hint and called another company. They were at our home within 45 minutes and we saved $40. I don't recommend this company to anyone. A company that can't be bothered to call or return calls from anxiously waiting customers doesn't deserve my money! read more

Their customer service is superb and I felt like they were not just going to end our relationship there that day. We had an issue with our condensation line leaking rust. JR Perkins was one of seven HVAC service companies that we called. Of the four that inspected our issue and quoted us, JR Perkins was by far the most reasonably priced and gave us the most honest assessment of what was wrong with our system. While other companies wanted to over-charge, misdiagnose the issue in order to take us to the cleaners or outright try to sell us an entirely new HVAC system, JR Perkins told us exactly what was wrong. They explained the situation to us in terms that we could understand and did not put any pressure on us to move forward with their recommendation or to use them for servicing, at all. They are the most professional, honest and trustworthy HVAC service company that we've encountered. read more

They installed our units and one of them has not worked properly since installation. They are not interested in working with us to fix it and are not treating customers like family as they advertised and promised. They aren't even interested in customer satisfaction or retention. We chose them because the owner is a Marine vet like one of us. Lesson learned. Vet your AC company carefully before you buy new units. read more

Just wanted to update my review from 3 1/2 years ago because J.R. Perkins came through for me again today. I left message at 10pm on a Thursday (I decided not to select the "emergency" prompt), because one of our A/C units went down, and we're having a party this weekend with the temperatures forecasted to reach 115. JR Perkins returned my call first thing in the morning and -- despite a flood of emergency calls -- managed to fit me in to fix my unit within a couple of hours. Rich, the owner of the company, did the repair work himself, and he even drove back to his office to get the part that I needed. I have been a faithful customer with JR Perkins for many years (they also do my twice-yearly maintenance check), and they've given me no reason to look elsewhere! read more

Last week JR's went out to look at my A/C unit and said that the unit needed a new motor run device (aka capacitor). They replaced it for $350 and said that everything else looked fine. One week later and the AC is out again. For another $495 they offered eagerly to replace the fan motor on the spot. I declined as it seemed to me that their price for the first visit was too high and now I was being told only a week later that I have an entirely different problem and this new problem would cost me another $495. When I decided to go with a different company I was promptly charged another $75 for a service call when all I wanted them to do was to ensure that that they had done the work correctly the first time. In total, $425 and still no working A/C! read more

We have had JR Perkins checking our air conditioning/heating unit twice a year for about four years now. I always request their technician Ivan, as I found him to be very reliable, competent, and he has a positive, cheerful attitude which I love! He has done a great job of keeping our air conditioner/heater in tip-top shape, checking all the gizmos and levels of whatever to make sure everything is in order for each up-coming season. Ed, the service person is honest and excellent. However, when I called up they did not tell me up front that there is a service charge of $85. This will be charged even if you buy a service from them. Later, Mat explained to me that this will be waived only if we buy a maintenance from them. The $85 Service Charge is very high compare to the competition, who provide similar kind/quality of services. read more

We just relocated to Scottsdale from Chicago and being new to the area comes with some nervousness about new vendors. JR Perkins was the company that came to do an inspection on our HVAC equipment at home purchase. They have been extremely honest (even when it wasn't so easy to be because our a/c units need work right away), fair and trustworthy! They took the time to explain our situation to us and gave us plenty of partnership ideas to choose from. We had many of their staff come through the house to talk with us and each one was so nice and had a willingness to partner with us for the care of our home. We needed to have one of the entire units replaced. Jake and Zack came to the house, covered the entire floor with cloths, and cared for our new home as much as we do! They cleaned up everything, were super friendly, and even asked us if the cleaning they did was good for us. I would highly recommend them, no matter what your HVAC situation was. Ivan was professional and found the problem in just a few minutes. They didn't try to sell me any extras, just fixed the problem and got the air going. I would recommend them and use them again.
