Who doesn't love a candy shop? Seriously. This place transports me back to my childhood with all my…read morefavorite treats. If I want to go back to my middle school days then I grab a handful of Airheads. High school was nothing but Twix. Just looking at the glorious wall of candies gives me diabetes, but it also reminds me of much happier and carefree times. When you're feeling a little more sophisticated with your sweet tooth then snag a freshly baked brownie or delicious smoothie. When savory tickles your taste buds then a homemade empanada is the right move. For the truly decadent, FRIED OREOS. Do I need to say more? This little shop will make your mouth happy no matter what mood you're in and I love having a spot like this around the corner. Now I'm off to the gym so I can work off the Snickers I just ate.

I love this place. That was in the early 80's. Today, a treat can be more of an expensive endeavor. Even something as simple as a milk shake. Vanessa, the owner of this shop, understands that kids sometimes need a sweet as an outlet from the real world. And the sweets here are plentiful and extremely inexpensive. I can easily come in and find a snack that is not commonly available for a quarter and get my daughter's a simple frozen treat also for a quarter...! Virtually every treat is under a dollar and even her home made snacks are in the same range. Vanessa makes cupcakes, brownies, milk shakes, smoothies, even fried oreos. She has a ton of variety and she always take the time to chat with my kids. Whom love coming to see her for whatever treat they are getting for the week. She is within walking distance of the train and I am not sure I've ever seen shakes and smoothies, naturally made with real ingredients and real fruit and veggies for $3-4. That is just foreign to me. I'm used to prices in the $10-12 for those types of drinks. $6-7 for shakes. This is going to be our stop this summer for all of our random treats. If you have never been and you are in the areas of Rutherford, Lyndhurst, Orange, Ironbound, Kearny, Clifton, Bloomfield, and places within range of those it's only a few minutes drive. I'm glad my buddy, Gabriel, was able to get this place listed on Yelp. She deserves to see her store get a ton of great reviews.

My wife got a package of Cadbury Flake (her favorite) and I got a box of Sno-Caps. We would have gotten a lot more, but we were headed to the Yankees game later, so wouldn't have been able to bring everything into the stadium. Check out was quick as well, so we didn't have to wait in line long to make our purchase. Will definitely be back our next trip to New York, and will make sure we don't have anywhere to be so we're able to get a lot more.

They also carry a lot of different candies and snacks that you probably can't find anywhere else. They had German Haribo, and I bought the yogurt flavor -- it was really good! We ended up purchasing a bunch of random new things we've never seen before, like Yoohoo chocolate and Sriracha chocolate. I actually liked the Yoohoo one a lot, probably one of my favorites. The Sriracha chocolate does have a spicy kick, but just a little. I'd suggest getting a less dark chocolate version if you can't really handle the bitterness of 70% dark chocolate. It is pretty pricey here, but honestly I understand why since they carry a lot of imported and unique stuff. Also, their tote bag is super cheap -- I think just a few cents more and you can get one. Definitely worth buying since you also get a cute souvenir for your trip.

It has a small town feel, always busy but rarely a wait, and a great small town feel which perfectly fits Bloomfield, but no review would be complete without mentioning their national or global significance as a significant filming location from "The Soprano's" series. There's a counter as well as booths. You can get some candy or ice cream to go as well as get some quick bites and of course, ice cream. I wanted to start with something standard to see how they did it and got a pineapple sundae with vanilla ice cream. The whipped cream and cherry on top made it adorable, and the ice cream was creamy and very vanilla. The wet walnut sundae also paired well with it. Both were just overflowing right out of the dish. Even though it's simple, it wasn't basic. We were served quickly and with pretty and tasty desserts. I admire the local history captured in photos. There is plenty of street parking nearby. The old school vibe is missed in a lot of places, so it's nice to sit down, relax, and just have a splendid treat.
