Several years ago I purchased and had installed a Trane 3 ton dual fuel heating/AC system from Alvin Joyner at Joyner's Heat. He eagerly spent time with me to arrange the purchase and installation which cost several thousand dollars. Each year I requested him to service the unit as well as a second unit in my attic which he did. I agreeably paid his fee which also included the time it took for his son, the usual technician, to drive to my home. I always tipped his technician. His son, Alvin Jr,unknowingly dropped a $100 in my yard which I returned to him. I was a very easy job for him. In fact, some years Alvin Jr. would not even clean the coils saying they were fine. I still paid the fee even though that part of the service was not performed.
I say all of this to show how loyal a customer I have been to Joyner's Heating and Air. This past September I called and requested him to provide the yearly checkup on my unit. Weeks went with no reply. I called a few times and each time was told they would come when they had work to do in my area. I waited until Hurricane Matthew hit. I then noticed my duct work, installed by Mr. Joyner's installers, had gotten wet due to the immense amount of rain. I called several more times to arrange for a service man to check my system and the duct work. Each time the receptionist was very polite and said she would relay the request. I was never contacted. Weeks passed and I called a few more times. Finally a serviceman arrived at my door on the Friday after Thanksgiving. He checked the duct work which was still wet, after two months of me calling Mr. Joyner and asking for help.
The service man immediately shut off the power to my heating system. He said there was a possibility of Black Mold due to the wet duct. I asked him to return the next week and replace the piece of duct. I never heard back from the company. I called the next week and left a message and a request for service. I got no reply. The receptionist said she gave Mr. Joyner the message. I called his personal cell phone. He answered and said he would get back to me the next day. He did not. I waited a couple of more days and called the office again. The same conversation took place. I explained how cold it is in my home and how my wife works from home with a dedicated computer system that is downstairs. She has to sit in the cold all day.( I finally bought a small electric heater to help her bear the cold.) I called Mr. Joyner's cell again and he promised to call within the hour. He did not. I called the next day. He was given a message concerning our situation. He did not call back. I called again and asked for a definite time when he could send someone out to help. I got a call back from another secretary who said Mr. Joyner would send someone out after Christmas. This was unbelievable!
This is a man who says he is backed up with calls from customers with wet ducts. He is servicing those customers. If he services others as he has me, he will be without a company soon. He did not make an effort to help me, although I have spent thousands with his company. He showed no concern for me whatsoever. He said he was short of help. One of the Fridays when I requested help, I was told the the Joyners were fishing because they had not gone out together in a while. We are suffering and he has the ability and the obligation to help us and he did nothing but ignore me. If he was short of qualified help, I ask did he ignore his other customers?
I am still without heat and now, two months later, I must search for another company to help us obtain heat with our very expensive Trane heating unit. Mr. Joyner, I am very disappointed with your unprofessional and heartless treatment of me and my wife. You could have at least told me from the beginning that you were not interested in servicing my equipment. I could have found a more caring person two months earlier and avoided all of the cold evenings and mornings. read more
