Each person that has come to our home has been pleasant and appears technically sound. In January of this year one of our units, of almost 20years, went toes up and needed replacing. The install went well and we had heat upstairs again. They even cleaned up the debris and attic floor. Fast forward to this week. My 10 mo old grandson and daughter were visiting and the upstairs thermostat where they stay went dead as a doornail as they were heading up for the night (8 pm-ish). After calling the thermostat company I called CF and spoke to a dispatcher, within 30 minutes a tech, Bobby, called and gave me some troubleshooting tips. I had already checked all the breakers. I decided not to lug the vacuum cleaner upstairs to the attic nor down into the crawlspace to unclog the drain pipes and potentially get it back online. Bobby offered to put in a service call for the next day, it would have been after 11 pm before he could have gotten here. The kids spent the night on the couch on the lower level where it was cooler. The next day I had a service call set up. As luck would have it, Bobby was my technician so he already knew what was going on. This was the first time the unit had really been put through the paces for cooling as outside temperatures rose. Bobby C. kept me informed throughout the process, indicated it was a warranty service call, so no charge! He educated me on the problem, his planned resolution and what to do should it occur again. He came out and gave me a quote which was quite reasonable and said the job should take about 5 hours to install the new unit, all new piping and all new air handler/evaporator coil etc... everything new, and that the owner's son and a helper would be here to do it. From initial phone call to installation day was about a week and a half. Fortunately, I have kept a decent window unit around for situations just like this, knowing there would be some lag time between unit failure and installation of a new unit.

But that's an acceptable condition for me in order to work with an experienced, trustworthy group that will not bill unnecessary services. I once called them out to replace a 40-yr old unit. Instead of quoting another $10k+ estimate I had received from 2 other companies, Absolute offered to repair it for $180! Needless to say I was floored and have been a devoted client ever since. Anyone who would do what's right for the client is alright in my book - no matter how quickly they jump when asked.

Since I had specifically asked for him, I phoned for an explanation and he claimed there would be further, and likely extensive, billing and tests before the problem could be found. I fired them then and there. We're all familiar with broken/loose appointments, high prices and poor service from monopolies like Ma Bell and TimeWarner. One would think however, that small businesses like Absolute Air Care would remember that whether customers are treated fairly or poorly, they are going to tell everyone.
