Service staff was super friendly. Clean ambiance. Delicious food. You do have to wait just a tad bit longer for the food since they're making it fresh, but overall super satisfied! I want to go back and try the other items. I'd say to help pass time, get ready to order an appetizer right away, if you will, then after that order goes through, then look through the rest of the menu to try to decide what you'll have for entre, as again, it might take some time. When we were there, there were a consistent flow of people coming in and out for take outs, so I'm sure they're busy.

Food: 5 Service: 5 Ambiance: 4 After living in Poway for 25 years, I only discovered Joyee within the past two years, and honestly, I have no idea how I missed it for so long. Joyee is a legit, homey Chinese restaurant that delivers every single time. The service is friendly, no fuss, and very efficient, whether it's busy or slow. What really stands out is the food. It is always fresh, piping hot, and insanely delicious every time we visit. No matter when we come, the quality and consistency never change. Everything we've ordered has been amazing -- from the boiled fish and boiled beef to the walnut shrimp, salt and pepper fish, Mongolian beef, and the green beans with garlic, which is my absolute favorite. Every dish hits the spot. We've also ordered takeout many times for family gatherings, and the food always travels well and is just as good at home. We are always left super happy and super stuffed after every visit. If you're looking for a solid Chinese food spot in Poway, I cannot recommend Joyee enough. This is hands down my number one Chinese restaurant in Poway,

Came here after we went to another neighborhood favorite was closed. Wasn't sure what to expect but thought we'd give it a try and we were pleasantly surprised. Started with some appetizers, potstickers and popcorn chicken and I thoroughly enjoyed each dish. Having eaten popcorn chicken at other dumpling restaurants, the pieces are sometimes pretty small and get lost in all the breading. These were good. Potstickers tasted good as well. For our entrees, we ordered the Seafood Dumpling Soup and Walnut Shrimp. The walnut shrimp had the right amount of sauce and tasted good. We also shared a Beef Roll, which was good. Shopping center can get pretty busy on the weekend with other restaurants, retail, and gym but the parking lot is big enough to be able to find a good space. Inside of restaurant is pretty sparse, but plenty of seating.

The people at this place were so kind!! My waiter, George? from the get-go was so happy-go-lucky. We talked the entire time I had my meal and he was so funny! I got the honey walnut shrimp and the bok choy and the portions were so huge! George truly made my day and taught me so much about Chinese culture and practices! Come for the food and the ambiance.

Poway's best kept secret. Our favorite place to stop at for chow mein, xiao long bao, and dumplings. Everything is fire, they have reasonable prices, nice staff, and delicious food. People mostly do takeout, which makes dining in so much more relaxed. I was introduced to this place by my Chinese relatives. We love Joyee's!!

Enjoyed lunch here. The cucumber cold appetizer was perfectly seasoned with salt and garlic and crisp. Still thinking about the cucumber appetizer. Boiled dumplings and eggplant dish were good. XLB soup dumpling was just okay and they were stuck together. Beef chow fun noodles were flavorful. Service was good and friendly. He was covering the entire restaurant and did a good job at lunch. Lunch time was moderately busy inside. It was clean and decent sized.

Went in for a quick bite and left satisfied! The server was helpful and attentive. We only ordered two things, their potstickers and dumplings were so delicious! The filling inside was packed and flavorful! We got full with just these two so sadly we weren't able to try anything else but definitely bookmarked to come back!

The place is nice and comfy, great service from the staff there, but most importantly, the food. The orange soda was nice, yes, it's from a bottle, but it's a fairly unique flavor I haven't had elsewhere. The mapo tofu though. Absolutely the most flavorful mapo tofu I've had ANYWHERE. This stuff was like 2 steps below a climax, but in my mouth and tongue. I couldn't stop eating it. I took it home to eat later, but unfortunately warming it up in the microwave kills a bit of the flavor; it was still very good though. But fresh at restaurant itself? My god. I would drive 5 hours to eat this. I would be on the toilet for 10 hours to eat this. I don't care. It's THAT good.

    Chicken dumplings - good

This place was decent. Food was good, service was okay. We were irked that their menu doesn't reflect their current offerings. For example, we were excited to get the walnut chocolate bun. They told us they don't have walnuts, just chocolate, so we ordered it anyway expecting something like the picture on the menu. But it was something much different. Still a dessert, but we wouldn't have ordered it if it wasn't going to have that waffley look and expected taste like the picture. We didn't love the fried cream cheese wontons, scallion pancakes were nice to have but a little too greasy for us, chicken dumplings were good, and wouldn't get the chocolate buns again.

The best experiences in food may be in ordinary food places that can pull your heartstrings.

Pork Soup Dumpling (4/5) - decent soup dumplings, the soup flavor was good, but wish there was more soup within each dumpling. But overall flavor was succulent. Chongqing Chicken (4/5) - def not a specialty, but tasty. I've def had better where the chicken was a bit more crispy and Wonton in Spicy Soup (5/5) - this was the standout dish, the spicy soup sauce was phenomenal and perfectly complemented the wontons. I'd def come back for this dish alone. Bonus - Chocolate Dumplings (5/5) - provided this as a free dessert, which TBH should be on the menu (if it isn't already), the chocolate flavor was so delicious and had the nice pork soup dumpling type skin. Service was very attentive as well - def better than your typical 'chinese' style service of quick/brusque servie - for sure. They repeatedly checked water/tea refills. Overall 4.5/5

I ordered the almond chicken lunch special, which came with fried rice, wontons, and an egg roll. Everything was delicious. The egg roll had a lovely hint of curry, the chicken was flavorful without being greasy or overly sauced, and the vegetables were perfectly crisp instead of soggy. The fried rice had a delicate smoky flavor that complemented everything perfectly. I also added a side of hot and sour soup with wonton chips and was delighted. All of it tasted freshly made, which was easy to believe with the constant chopping sounds coming from the kitchen. It has total takeout or casual dine-in vibes: small, cozy, no frills, just really good food and friendly service. What makes it even more special is the heart behind it. The owner pretty much does it all, cooking, taking orders, and serving, with one other person helping. You can feel the pride and care in every dish. It was $76. Ordered fried rice, chow mein, one shrimp entree, orange chicken and house chicken. My wife picked it up and noticed the house chicken was not in the bag. Had to drive back to the restaurant and was told I ordered house CHOW MEIN. (No, I did not! 4 of us were sitting here and the other 3 people overheard the order). So had to wait while they begrudgingly took back the house chow mein I did not order and made the house chicken entree. When we finally got back home with the now cold food, after 2 bites we threw ALL of it in the trash. The orange chicken and house chicken were inexplicably dried out and stringy, almost like jerky. They also put those 2 entrees, right off the open flame wok, in to PLASTIC FOAM CLAMSHELL CONTAINERS. The heat from the entrees literally melt and warp the foam containers, and the food tastes like plastic. These type of single use foam containers were banned - ILLEGAL - in San Diego FOUR YEARS AGO!!! WHY are they still being used here? The chow mein and fried rice were also horribly, chokingly dry. And the shrimp tasted very fishy, like it had seen better days. I live in the area and used to come here all the time, then stopped several years ago due to a HUGE downgrade in the quality of their food. It has now gotten even worse, if thats even possible. Panda Express, down the street, is 100 times better than this. It would have been less than half price of this place and WAY better quality.
