Horrible. DO NOT GET ACRYLIC HERE. Go elsewhere and save yourself from the disappointment. I came here to get acrylic nails done last Sunday. By 4 days later on Thursday, three had literally popped off, which I have never seen with acrylic. They came off like cheap cvs glue-on nails, didn't even hurt. And all the rest were lifting. When I went back, the main lady (Joyce i'm assuming) who originally did my nails didn't even seem surprised in the least. She refused to fix my nails or even soak off the rest. Instead she just gave me my money back and left me with crazy looking hands. I'm pissed that I tipped her! I've never seen "acrylic" that acted this way. Either what they're using isn't actually acrylic or they're using extremely cheap low budget quality supplies while still charging $40. I wish I had read the reviews before coming here because i'm seeing other girls have had this same exact issue. I went elsewhere to get the rest of my nails soaked off and it was so strange how fast their "acrylic" came off. Typically acrylic takes about an hour to soak off, what this place put on me came off in about 15-20 minutes. read more

*edited from 3 to 2 stars because it's only been a week and my acrylic nail is falling off already!!!** I walked in for an acrylic full set, I was seated right away. Its not a fancy place at all, but I live across the street so its convenient! It cost $40 but I had to pay an additional $5 for coffin shape nails, which I didn't know until halfway through...I got my nails done by the owner, Joyce. Her English wasn't great but she is friendly. The electric filing tool wasn't working so she had to hand file the acrylic, it worked ok but I think the electric filing tool would be better! Overall, my nails could be neater. They look ok from far but close up I see flaws. I won't go back for acrylics and will get a fill in elsewhere. read more

Whenever I come to this neighborhood, i'm happy that theres a lot of salons to choose from, but who needs to once you come here! Work is decent, I've gotten a mani for a lot more for far less quality in the city. Owner can hold a conversation and is funny..plus got a neck massage while getting my nails dried..I heard other places offer that too, but have yet to experience it except for here. Def coming back here~ Owner was nice enough to give me some flip flops she had since I wore sneakers and didnt want my pedi to get ruined, and the color for my mani lasted me about week, week and a half, and longer for my toes of course. read more

I cannot begin to explain how dirty this place was. There are dozens of flies, the floor and work spaces are filthy. The owner is rude and does not talk to her staff or patrons well. She also repackages DISPOSABLE materials. They do not clean their clippers or cuticle cutters. I went in for a gel manicure, pedicure and wax. I barely made it through the pedicure when I apologized profusely to the poor girl who was helping me and told her I could not stay a minute longer I was literally itching just being in there and looking around. The owner charged me for a manicure and pedicure even though all she did was take off non existent polish. I was happy to pay anything and could not get out of there fast enough! People there are nice and the price is reasonable too, considering that there are competition all around, this place has been around for a while, they must be doing something right. Right for the price. Owner is nice and if you get to know her, you don't want to go any place else! Lots of nail polish variation and lovee the wax work they do! I don't normally rave about manicures because I don't splurge. This is such a hidden gem in NY. The facility is very clean and staff is friendly/attentive! I showed the owner a picture of a manicure for 2 seconds and she knew exactly what to do. They get the job done for the right price! I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews about this salon! I have been here a few times over the past few years, usually for a manicure and a few times for a pedicure, and they have always done a beautiful job. My nails have never looked better and even after the polish starts chipping, my nails still look great for weeks on end because of how nicely they shape my nails. They are not much to look at but they're one of the best nail salons I've ever been to in terms of actual quality of manicure. I do agree with the reviewer who said that you shouldn't see the owner for a mani/pedi. I've had manicures with two or three other ladies there and they've all been great and really sweet. read more

Got my nails done for a wedding. I rarely get manicures but it was a one time splurge and I'm glad I did it. Owner is very friendly and staff was very welcoming. Prices are very very fair and I'm glad this place is in my neighborhood, within walking distance. They spent their time making sure each nail was perfect so I appreciate that attention to detail. read more

I recently got married in Mexico. The night before we were leaving for the wedding I went to Joyce Nail Salon for a pedicure and gel manicure. When I made the appointment I was told by the owner, not to be late. I arrived 5 minutes early, but wasn't seated into a pedicure chair until about 7:20 (thanks for caring about my time). It was a very hot July evening, and there was no air conditioning. When my pedicure was over, I was seated for my gel manicure. At this point it was near closing time since they weren't ready for me when I got there. The owner skipped the entire manicure experience, and proceeded to put the gel on my nails. I asked her if she should be clipping my cuticles or at the very least, pushing them back, and she said no, it would be fine. I kept telling her that they didn't look good and I wasn't happy and this was for my wedding, but she kept pressing on, telling me that I would love it when it was finished. After being completely rushed through the gel manicure, my nails looked like a 4 year old polished them. What was I to do? I was leaving for Mexico in the morning for my wedding! I told her this. She told me to come back and she would fix it, but obviously, I could not come back as my flight was leaving before the salon opened. By the time we arrived in Mexico the next day, the gel was peeling off my nails, by that evening, I no longer had a manicure (admittedly, I helped it along by biting once they started peeling). I have been going here for 10 years. This used to be a great place but now the owner isn't ever here and the service sucks. Two weeks ago I went at 9:50am was told I had to wait because a "customer" was coming at 10 I waited & 10 came and went they begrudgingly helped me and no one came the entire time I was there, no mystery customer. Today I went for a pedicure there were 2 people working 2 people getting pedicures. I picked my polish and sat to wait, 30 minutes later one lady is done and someone walks in they speak to the worker and the worker says to me "can you wait?" I said I have been waiting. She proceeded to tell me that this lady who came in 30 minutes after me needed a mani/pedi so I left and I will never return. It's a shame, this place used to be wonderful and now it's a dump with crappy service. I would give it negative stars if I could. read more

I've been going here for years but the service has changed drastically. When you enter, you're barely acknowledged. The workers are confused as to who is next and don't understand English. When you ask how long the wait is they say 5 mins but it turns out to be an hour. It's not so clean. Only one of the manicurists is good . There's a new manicurist all the time. The owner scolds the manicurists for no reason and has her perferred customers. Don't bother making an appointment if you're going to be a little late, they don't wait. Don't go before closing, they don't take the time to do your nails nicely. read more

I have gotten my nails done at numerous nail salons. I lived in the Bronx and on the Upper East Side, and this place does the best job. I used to come here from the UES just for my nails. It is definitely not the nicest looking place and could definitely use some redecorating/renovating, but the job they do with nails is the absolute best. Even when I do a regular mani - the nail polish lasts at least 1 full week bc the polishes aren't old and they put on thin layers which helps keep them from chipping. They manage to do thin, meticulous layers bc they are not rushing. All over Manhattan, they do rush jobs to meet the demand - also I think the rent is so high (or they are just so cheap) that they don't replace old polishes. So, the polish bubbles as it is drying, and bc they are globbing it on in a rush, it ends up clumping as well so they peel and chip within the same day. The price here at Joyce is also unbeatable.
