Staff were welcoming and jovial, joking with us from the beginning. . Very lively fun atmosphere here. Capable of seating a group of 4-6 around tables if needed, We started with a Negroni and a gin and tonic, both made with Jenever. Our food orders were based on other Yelp reviews praising the rubs here: We ordered a normal spare ribs (pork) classic dry rub (comes with salad and two sauces (similar to ranch and thousand island) and a normal mixed. We ordered a baked potato on the side to share, which comes with garlic butter. They also brought plain bread slices on the side. The pork ribs were both tender and flavorful. My husband liked the classic dry rub better than the smoked. The salad was crispy thanks to celery slices. The garlic butter on the baked potato was creamy, strong, and addictive.. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. When we left, we asked the mamager where the sister bar was located exactly and he directed us across the street to Cafe GDG.the adventure continues! Highly recommend!

A normal full bar and friendly quick service. Our steak was done as requested (med. rare) and very tasty. Got the classic ribs and were dry rubbed so it was tasty and tender- on the drier side with little fat. Would have loved bbq sauce on the side instead of the white garlic sauce and the Thousand Island sauce (weird) . Enjoyed the baked potato and chopped salad with a sweet vinaigrette. Plain French bread slices accompanied meals- no butter. Outside seating available. Friendly service.

Chicken supereme and tasty beers! What more could a guy want on a Friday night? Fun and busy…read moreambiance? Check. Authentic and friendly service? Check. A tasty dessert? Check. In a world where gourmet chicken restaurants are becoming staple food and microbrewing is more popular than tennis, its getting hard to distinguish your chicken & beer place from all the others. Luckily, all hipsterism aside, there are still a few places that stick to the core and deliver tasty delicous chicken and not much more. Kloek has its own special method of preparation which guarantees a stable level of quality and a much more lean (the fat doesn't drip of your hands) piece of meat. They pre-cook the chicken ik a spiced broth. This is something that my mom (thanks mom!) has done for ages and although it delivers the good stuff, the meat always ends up dry inside. In case of Kloek, its only a bit dry, but not to a level that you'll be bothered. On the other hand, the flavour is spectacular and its not as fatty as the alternative method. What I also love about this place is that they don't serve fries as standard to your chicken (but coleslaw and salad), which is a concious way to treat your customers and keep the total calory level respectable. The dessert - also delicous, we had the milionnaire shortcake - was also modest in size. Last but not least, I've heard that they are also a microbrewery. I tried their dark blonde beer and it was very good, will definetely help you to moist up that chicken. But make sure you don't have to many as they are very strong (8,5%).
Five star rating for a chicken restaurant from a vegetarian?? *Gasp*…read more Yep, Kloek is just that much fun. We came here about a month ago now for our date night which is something we sometimes need to remind ourselves to do ten years into our relationship and two years into parenthood. Oops! Anyway, we remembered to have a special night and started things off right at Kloek. I wanted to make sure it would be something that the husband would love and what meat eating man doesn't love chicken? I don't know any such man. Kloek certainly delivers with their (so I hear) perfectly moist and wonderfully coloured chicken, super friendly servers and fun, hip vibe. I have to say the even looked tempting to me and I haven't eaten meat in about twelve years. Also, they may only have one vegetarian dish on the menu (so considerate) but it's a great one! I love a good wrap and have learned not to be offended by what europeans think they can pass off as falafel. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, G&T, hooray! Loads of microbrews, hooray! Fancy sodas, hooray! Basically, you can just love everything about Kloek. So if you're looking for a fun dinner or even just drinks and snacks, Kloek is definitely something that should be very high up on your to do list.

The streets were packed with families and the boats in the harbor were all lit up. The restaurants were all filled to capacity but on our third try we were able to get seated at Fuego. Fuego is beautiful inside and all the tables face giant windows on the marina. You can also dine on the outside terrace. Even in the cold temperatures people were bundled up eating and drinking. From the service, drinks, and the food our experience was wonderful. The Long Islands were strong and packed a punch. We started with a bowl of creamy tomato and smoked paprika soup. It was excellent. Good flavor and consistency. From there we had the seafood trio. Wonderful presentation of cod, gamba (prawns), and salmon. The flavorful burre noisette sauce was excellent. The steak was expertly grilled with a nice medium rare center. We passed on dessert but decided on coffee before heading back into the cold. Our experience at Fuego was great, five stars!

We stopped for lunch at the Fuego Bar & Grill, a classy, upscale pub around the corner from the boardwalk, where vendors peddle classic Dutch kitsch such as wooden shoes, traditional costume photography, postcards and other tourist bait (although the almost-next-door Cheese Factory Volendam and attached museum is absolutely worth the price of admission; you will not walk away with out a few wedges!). While not exactly traditional Dutch cuisine (the menu is similar to an American seafood and steakhouse, with some regional European flair), the steaks here were juicy and cooked to order, and to perfection. Salad was crisp and not drowned in dressing, and fries were thick, steak-cut and golden brown. While you won't get any adventure points for branching out and trying something new and exotic, you will have a hard time finding a better restaurant in Volendam.

We kept it classic this time: * The Ribs: Fall-off-the-bone tender as always. They don't over-sweeten the glaze, which I appreciate. * Le Cannibale Royale: The pulled pork on top of the patty is a heavy hitter, but the sauerkraut actually cuts through the richness perfectly. * The Fries: Still some of the most consistent in the city--thin, salty, and actually hot. Service was busy (it's Handboogstraat, so what do you expect?), but the staff was super chill and kept the craft beers flowing. It's loud, it's moody, and it's exactly what I wanted for a late-night feed. Plus, I've noticed they actually take the time to read and reply to feedback here, which is a rare find for a place this popular. Keep doing what you're doing!

It was down the street too so we just walked on over and it took maybe 10 minutes. My mother and I came in and were sat immediately and given a menu. It's very simple. Half or whole chicken with your choice of a side. Also, it's pretty cheap €14,50 for the half and € 28 for the whole. And for Amsterdam, that's cheap, especially when paying for freshness. The chickens are cooking (where we were sitting) in front of you and it was so juicy and lightly crispy and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I know it sounds weird but for my side I got apple sauce and don't regret it. When I come back to Amsterdam, I will definitely be coming back here.
