When I checked in, I was given 2 pages to fill out, and within about 7 minutes, I was called in. Anna was the medical assistant who took all my vitals and asked me some health history questions to complete my chart. Soon after, she lead me to another room to be seen by the Nurse Practitioner. Within a couple minutes the NP came in-- I thought wow, that was fast! The NP was really nice and did the whole exam, and even asked if I wanted to run some blood work to check cholesterol levels, etc. My entire appointment took less than an hour, and I felt my physical exam went pretty well. Now, I just need to schedule a separate appointment for my blood work.

This is now the second time they've failed to submit my prescription--something that directly affects my health. Meanwhile, they're quick to take your copay and will cancel your appointment without hesitation if your insurance isn't perfectly in order. They'll call you to schedule a follow-up after bloodwork, but while still on the phone, they're checking your insurance coverage--like your care is secondary to your billing status. It's clear that money comes first. Worse, I've only seen my assigned doctor twice in all these years. Every visit is with a nurse practitioner--often still in training. There's no continuity, no personal connection, and certainly no accountability. I will absolutely change providers and will actively warn others about this clinic. I also plan to report this experience to my insurance provider. This place no longer deserves anyone's time or money.

He is such a great doctor - super nice and very thorough with the few concerns I did have. Because of him my physicals are quick and easy, which is very alleviating when I see doctors as a patient! I've also gone here once on a non-physical appointment. On that appointment I saw Dr. Tran. He addressed my concerns to my satisfaction and his prescriptions helped me get a lot better. The support staff from the check-in desk to the RNs and even the lab staff are super friendly. Whenever I go here they ensure that my visit is hassle-free. I also have good medical insurance so no surprise bills to come out of here. PS: My only concern is that Scripps doesn't have an urgent care location south of the 52. I know that as of my last visit they were promoting HealthExpress so at least there's an option there but it just sucks that I would have to drive the equivalent distance of going to work just to be seen.

***PLEASE READ ME***…read more After three years of having my children as patients, I cannot recommend Dr. Singh or the pediatrics office at Scripps Eastlake. Over the past year, three last-minute cancellations, repeated communication failures, and consistently long waits have led me to seek care elsewhere. First, appointment times have meant very little in our experience. We arrive 15 minutes early as requested, only to wait another 30 minutes to an hour past the scheduled appointment time before being seen. These delays mean more time away from work, more school missed, and additional childcare disruptions. The bigger issue is that appointments for my sons were canceled on three separate occasions the morning of the visit--sometimes approximately 30 minutes beforehand--without notification reaching me. The office said it called my wife's number. My wife is deployed in the military and cannot reliably receive and relay these messages. My number is on file as the primary contact, and I have repeatedly explained that they need to call me. I raised this with the front office and nursing staff after each incident, yet the same problem kept happening. I understood the first mistake. After the second cancellation, I filed a formal complaint and changed pediatricians for one of my sons. My other son still needed an appointment while I waited for availability elsewhere. What happened next was especially frustrating. When scheduling contacted me about an appointment, I specifically said I did not want another appointment with Dr. Singh because of the previous cancellations. I was considering an available appointment with another doctor that same day. The scheduling representative reassured me that Dr. Singh would see my son, or another provider would see him if she could not. Based on that assurance, I accepted the appointment. I took time off work, pulled my son out of school, and rearranged childcare. When I arrived, I learned the appointment had been canceled again that morning. The assurance that another provider would see him was not honored. I filed another formal complaint, as well as a complaint through my insurance provider. Over roughly three years, Dr. Singh personally saw my children only about twice; other doctors covered most of their visits. I understand that doctors have emergencies and personal circumstances. What I cannot accept is repeatedly leaving families without care or effective notice, especially after the communication problem has been explained and formally reported. Parents deserve reliable appointments, accurate contact information being used, and scheduling promises they can trust. If a physician cannot consistently see their patients, families deserve an honest explanation and help arranging care with someone who can. Based on my family's experience, I strongly encourage parents looking for a pediatrician in Eastlake--including military families using TRICARE--to consider another practice. This is my firsthand account, and I am sharing it so other families can make an informed decision.

Dr Oseguera was a God send. Although she is my primary care physician, when you are admitted to the…read morehospital through the ER, the hospital manages your medical care. Nov 2015 I broke fell at home and broke my hip. I had emergency surgery to repair the break. After surgery I was transferred to a Skilled Nursing Facility for 5 weeks. While a resident in the SKF, your medical care is overseen by the SNF physician. When I was released by the SNF, I was still unable to walk and using a wheelchair, and required constant physical assistance. Yet the SNK doctor (in charge of my care) decided to release me home without consulting with my primary care physician, even though he knew I would be alone for 14 hours a day for a week. To add insult to injury, without any prior notice or planning, the SKF admissions manager woke me and told me that I was released and needed to arrange for someone to transport me home in a hour. Fortunately, I had a friend come to get me and take me home on her lunch hour. What a mess, to say the lease. The SNF gave me my medications, some of which were expired (since 8/2015, and this was in 12/2015) and lent me a walker that required return, and sent me on my way. The SNF told me they ordered a wheelchair, walker and portable potty, to be delivered that night to my home, a Home health assessment, and off I was sent home. Well, when Home health finally came they said checked with my insurance and no DME items were (wheelchair, potty or walker) ordered by the SKF. So the HHS also said they would order these items for me, spoke with Dr. Oseguera and told her they were sending requests to Dr. Oseguera for signature. Dr Oseguera called to check on me, and told me she had not received anything from the Home Health Services. First of all, Dr. Oseguera was upset that they had released me home knowing I was not ambulatory and alone in the home setting. Second, she was upset becasue she had not received request from the HHS for the DME. So, later that day Dr Oseguera called to check on me again. Thank God for Dr. Oseguera! No one else seem to care about me and how I was endangering myself by being alone so long or that I was without a wheelchair or walker, or ability to get to the toilet. (Please remember, these are just the basics of life). At any rate, Dr. Oseguera personally got an emergency authorization from my insurance company, ordered the DME items and saw that they were delivered that same day. By the way, when Dr. Oseguera checked with my insurance carrier personally, they told her that NO Authorizations requests had ever been submitted by either the SNK or HHS. So, if it were not for Dr. Oseguera, I would not have these basis items to assist me in the basic necessities of life like getting to the toilet, getting to the front door in case of emergency, or even bathing. I cannot tell you how grateful I am a Dr. Maria Oseguera patient. Dr. Oseguera stepped in when others failed to do their jobs or complete their promises to take care of me in my time of most need and greatest pains. I feel that Dr. Oseguera saved me from a system of others medical professionals who just don't really give a damn about the defenseless non-ambulatory patient. Dr. Oseguera took time to take care of me and she wasn't even paid for helping me. She had symptoms specific to 2 major health issues and the practitioner here told her to "try over the counter high blood pressure medications because I don't feel comfortable prescribing it without her seeing her primary care physician..." which was futile treatment. He gave her NO LABS, NO MEDS, NO TREATMENT. We went to the CVS pharmacy and the pharmacist was puzzled and told us that "there are no over the counter high blood pressure medications...not sure why he told you that. They all require a prescription...did he do any labs at least?..." She ended up having to cancel her flight back to college because she woke up with a medical emergency on the day of her flight, 5 days later, related to her symptoms from the appt here l that went untreated by the practitioner. We contacted her UCSD primary care physician's office and they were able to see her within a few days and treat her to get her stable to fly back to college. I do not recommend coming here for symptomatic issues on the weekend. It is best to pay the emergency fees and visit the emergency room. Black women must advocate harder for their healthcare and we will not utilize this location any longer, as they do not seem to take our symptoms seriously. We can go to CVS or another UCSD Clinic location for our vaccines.

Then I saw Dr. Sundaram who was even more thorough and had me take more tests/scans including optic nerve and cornea. She walked me through the results and went over my MRI with me, explaining what they indicated and next steps. She was factual and matter of fact, but also calmed my nerves a bit. The only reason this is a 4 star review and not 5 stars is because I had two appointments (field eye test then the consult), an hour apart. The second time I was 20 minutes early, checked in online then went to the front desk. The girl who helped me had no idea how to check me in and when I told her what Jackie did to check me in, she still looked lost and went and asked for help. Long story short, it somehow took 25 minutes for this to happen so instead of being early I ended up getting seen late. Dr. Sundaram was great and very thorough, and I would recommend her.
