Frustrated and Disappointed After Years of Loyalty…read more I've been going to this clinic for years, and the quality of care has seriously declined. This is now the second time they've failed to submit my prescription--something that directly affects my health. Meanwhile, they're quick to take your copay and will cancel your appointment without hesitation if your insurance isn't perfectly in order. They'll call you to schedule a follow-up after bloodwork, but while still on the phone, they're checking your insurance coverage--like your care is secondary to your billing status. It's clear that money comes first. Worse, I've only seen my assigned doctor twice in all these years. Every visit is with a nurse practitioner--often still in training. There's no continuity, no personal connection, and certainly no accountability. I will absolutely change providers and will actively warn others about this clinic. I also plan to report this experience to my insurance provider. This place no longer deserves anyone's time or money.

They are there for a paycheck and not for what they study for and committed to. Stacie on referral is rude and she wants you to do her job. Dr Oseguera is never at the office. There's no follow ups with them. They refer you to places that you have wait 3 months to get an Appointment (the eye institute) You ask for referral for prescribed glasses and Stacie just says do your own research (no help offered). They are not there to help. Think about your mother or grandmother having to find a place ( with no knowledge or access to computer) to be checked out depending on their needs. This is a quick clinic to get checked for minor illnesses like a cold or stomach upset. The weekend…read morepractitioners are not willing to treat without your primary care physician's permission on other healthcare symptoms or issues. My insurance and my own copay pocket has wasted money every time we have visited this location in the past 2 years. My daughter missed her primary care appt by 10mins (her driver got lost) at another UCSD location so she booked to come here on a Saturday. She had symptoms specific to 2 major health issues and the practitioner here told her to "try over the counter high blood pressure medications because I don't feel comfortable prescribing it without her seeing her primary care physician..." which was futile treatment. He gave her NO LABS, NO MEDS, NO TREATMENT. We went to the CVS pharmacy and the pharmacist was puzzled and told us that "there are no over the counter high blood pressure medications...not sure why he told you that. They all require a prescription...did he do any labs at least?..." She ended up having to cancel her flight back to college because she woke up with a medical emergency on the day of her flight, 5 days later, related to her symptoms from the appt here l that went untreated by the practitioner. We contacted her UCSD primary care physician's office and they were able to see her within a few days and treat her to get her stable to fly back to college. I do not recommend coming here for symptomatic issues on the weekend. It is best to pay the emergency fees and visit the emergency room. Black women must advocate harder for their healthcare and we will not utilize this location any longer, as they do not seem to take our symptoms seriously. We can go to CVS or another UCSD Clinic location for our vaccines.

I love that she doesn't automatically jump right into a medicinal/prescription solution (the easy way out) like many doctors do, but looks at the whole picture. I was referred to a specialist and provided a prescription to be filled at Walgreens. When I arrive at Walgreens, they inform me they did not have a prescription for me. I have to contact the Lakes Urgent care office once again only to find out the made a mistake and sent my prescription to the wrong location. I had decided to switch primary care physicians due to the fact that it was (and MOST LIKELY STILL IS) extremely difficult to actually speak to a staff member when TRYING to schedule an appointment. The ONLY one time I was able to speak to someone was my first time calling this office and the staff member alerted me that before I would able to make an appointment, I would have to come in to sign papers which I thought was an inconvenience for me. Also, I was told that Dr. Curtis would not be available until the following month as she was on vacation the time I first called making it rather difficult to be seen sooner. On my second and third attempt calling (giving the Dr. enough time after arriving back from vacation) and TRYING to schedule an appointment, I reached their automated answering machine. Everytime I press #7 (to speak to a staff member) I'd cross my fingers hoping for someone to pick up, but instead it was usually an automated voice saying "Dr. Curtis will be away until..." for weeks at a time and it has surely been quite frustrating! So for the past 2 months that I had been trying to schedule an appointment, I've been getting the machine and no response back. On top of the doctor's own schedule having always been out of office, I find that on most Fridays that I am able to leave work early to accomodate something like this, their office closes at 2PM and I'm unable to make it. I almost feel that the staff and doctor are non-existent at this point. It's unfortunate that I was unable to get through to this office and even more upsetting that I thought I did enough research to believe Dr. Curtis and staff would be an ease to reach, to communicate with, to schedule an appoinment with, to receive care from... BUT NADA to any of the above I just mentioned. The past 2 months trying to speak to someone and schedule an appointment here with these folks has been a PAIN and addded to the existing physical pain I'm already going through. There's no point in TRYING anymore. Time to move on...
